Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Taipei Taiwan (2024 Updated)

Under the radar of most U.S.-based travelers, Taipei boasts a lively LGBT community and one of the friendliest receptions in Asia. Explore it like a local with W Hotel concierge Joyce Hsu and other gay friendly hotel Taipei. Though it’s under the radar for many travelers, Taipei, Taiwan offers plenty of reasons to visit—including its thriving LGBT scene.

Taiwan Pride is the annual LGBTQ pride parade in Taiwan. The parade was first held in 2003. Although joined by groups from all over the country, the primary location has always been the capital city of Taipei.

Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, is a modern metropolis with Japanese colonial lanes, busy shopping streets and contemporary buildings. The skyline is crowned by the 509m-tall, bamboo-shaped Taipei 101 skyscraper, with upscale shops at the base and a rapid elevator to an observatory near the top. Taipei is also known for its lively street-food scene and many night markets, including expansive Shilin market.

Taiwan is definitely worth visiting, though to be fair how much you enjoy it depends on your interests. Taiwan’s natural scenery can’t compete with the Tibetan Plateau, but it is very impressive and beautiful nonetheless, especially if you’re willing to do multi day hikes

The best time of the year to visit Taipei are the months of  April. One of the best time to visit Taiwan is in late spring in April. This means the weather is dry and not so humid, and you can expect clear skies for most of your stay. Other months are September to November during the fall and Spring (March to May).

Ximending is also the main gay district of Taiwan, with a host of many clubs and pubs surrounding the area and here you can find gay friendly hotel Taipei.

Wanhua is the oldest district of Taipei, home to many historic buildings, such as the Longshan Temple and the Red House Theater. Ximending is the “harajuku of Taipei“, a shopping neighbourhood centred around teenager fashion

The gay scene is wild and vibrant. Combine tropical weather with gourmet food, stunning shopping experiences and a rich history of culture and art, Taipei is a city oasis that never ceases to surprise. Add in a cruising gay beach, gay hot springs, circuit parties and the hot and muscled native Taiwanese guys.

Our second recommendation for a gay friendly hotel Taipei is a excellent 4* hotel. Inhouse Hotel is located a 5-minute walk from Ximen MRT Train Station, and a 5-minute drive from Taipei Railway Station. It offers a restaurant and rooms with free wired internet access.

Location wise, hard to fault as it is a few min walks away from Ximen station and also is a well-known place for hangout; bars, shopping and food all within reach.

Hotel Inhouse is within a 10-minute drive of Longshan Temple and the famous Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. It is a 24-minute drive from Songshan Airport, and a 1-hour drive from Taoyuan International Airport.

Wanhua District is a great choice for travellers interested in shoppingstreet food and night markets.

The room is well decorated and functional, with ceiling to floor curtains, which stretched along the window wall from the bed head to the toilet/shower; the room can be as bright as you want it or just pitch black thanks to the total blackout blind.

The complimentary breakfast is more than just cold cereal and toast. If you like local foods, they have at least 4 hot items each day, and not the same one day after day. Plus always a soup and congee with optional fixings. Some local touches like braised meat rice are available as well.

Hotel is  highly recommended for solo travelers or young travelers or tourists who are looking for action & excitement in Taipei.

Beautiful place to celebrate Valentines. Good place to stay for couples.

Rooms are very affordable and they have rooms and room sizes suitable for all types of travellers from singles, couples to families in large group. Rooms are modern and with a decent bathroom with showers. Only larger family size rooms or suites have bathrooms.

Breakfast buffet area gets busy and crowded around 8 am plus and there are not enough seats. So better have your breakfast earlier. The buffet spread had quite a decent variety.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, but not everyone could speak English confidently – you should have no problems getting the help you need. As it was rather wet during our stay there, what really helped was that they were willing to loan umbrellas for free :).

5. Sheraton Grande Taipei Hotel – Gay Friendly Hotel Taipei

Our last choice for you for a friendly gay hotel is Taipei is a luxury and a 5* hotel. Offering 5-star luxury in the city centre, the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel houses a day spa, fitness facilities and an outdoor pool. It provides 9 dining options, concierge services and free Wi-Fi in all areas of the building.

Located beside Shantao Temple MRT train station, Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel is a 3-minute train ride from the high-speed rail to Kaohsiung. It is 500 m from Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall and 2 km from Snake Alley.

The room in general is good but quite some partition and many wood.

The room has all of the usual things you expect: a king size bed (actually two beds pushed together), a wide screen TV, minibar with some drinks, espresso machine with four coffees, writing desk, very nice bathroom with bath and separate shower, and most of all – free wifi Internet that is very good and access no questions asked (not even a password or login required), without any restrictions. The wifi is throughout the hotel including the lobby. The executive room also gives (minimal) complimentary laundry service, and ample space for clothes.

There are a couple of pretty good restaurants in this hotel. They have a nice Thai restaurant and the Antoine Room is a nice place for upscale dining.

The shower provides a good strong flow of water jet stream. But, the temperature fluctuates during the shower, which is a bit annoying.

Breakfast buffet downstairs was very good with nice selection and always a queue for the famous french toast. They make all their own breads too which is great.

The gym was fairly good, although would get crowded in the limited space available in the weights area, but plenty of cardio equipment
