This 4* hotel is 2 minutes walk from the beach. Set between Alicante Harbour and Postiguet Beach, Meliá Alicante offers an outdoor pool and free WiFi throughout. All rooms feature a terrace, some with sea views. A kid’s club is available in high season.

All rooms at the Melia Alicante are air conditioned and spacious. They have flat-screen satellite TV, a minibar and a safe. The modern bathrooms come with toiletries and a hairdryer.

Alicante is a lovely town, very Spanish in its feel, with some nice places to visit, totally different to Benidorm. Mind you, you have to experience Benidorm for a day trip. The central market (Mercardo) is a 20 minute walk away, this is the closest place to pick up the tram line to the Central station or to Benidorm.

The Melia Alicante is in a great location, perfect for the beach, the mariner and the old town.

The hotels location is virtually on the beach, with the old town and restaurants a 5 to 10 minutes walk away.

The rooms are spacious & well appointed with a desk, large TV (with four channels in English), mini bar and a balcony overlooking the marina. The bathroom has a rain shower, a large mirror with separate lighting, an adjustable shaving mirror & a supply of toiletries.

It is well appointed, equipped with modern furniture and very clean

The bed is large and very comfortable and there is little noise at night therefore sleep quality is very good. The air conditioning is efficient & fully adjustable as was the room lighting. Upgrading our room can be costly but is money well spent

The buffet breakfast was pretty extensive with a large variety of hot & cold food on offer & seating is available inside and out. The coffee is brought to your table & is a bit hit & miss as regards temperature. The omelette which is  made as per your taste to order was very tasty.

There are aperitifs then at 12.00, 16.00 & 19.00, which are generally tapas, cheese, bread, cold meats. At 16.00 it is desserts and sweets. Free bar is available all day long with a vast range of alcohol, soft drinks and tea & coffee.

Service is good and the pool areas also very pleasant, with multiple areas, which means you can get sun all day.

This 3* is 8 minutes walk from the beach. The NH Rambla de Alicante is set in the centre of Alicante, 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and marina. It offers comfortable, air-conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs and a safe.

Rooms at the NH Rambla de Alicante come with a pillow menu, a minibar and free WiFi. Each private bathroom has a hairdryer.

This hotel is in a great location to everything. Whether it’s nightlife, the beach, shopping or historic sights this hotel is in the perfect location for it all

It is in a great location – five minutes walk to sea front, c6 bus stop and tram station – just on the edge of the city center.

This hotel is clean, tidy, adequate rooms with nice helpful staff and a good choice for breakfast. The room is spotlessly clean as as the bathroom. The bed was really comfortable.

The rooms are not spacious though have space enough. The bathrooms are sizeable and well appointed. Fresh towels are supplied every day. Shampoo and body wash replenished. The rooms are very clean. The reception really helpful and polite.

The air conditioning is very effective. The fittings are sufficiently robust to be not depressing, though the art on the wall is hotel-bland. This hotel actually works really well. It is not luxury but it is far from budget in its comforts. The beds are comfy and the bedding is of fair quality. A safe in the room is a useful touch.

Excellent breakfast selection, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, hot food, toaster, numerous breads, cheeses, cold meats, cakes, lovely coffee and selection of different teas, different fruit juices, great way to start to the day.

There is  a mini bar in the room and the prices were reasonable.

3. Eurostars Lucentum Alicante – Gay Friendly Hotel Alicante.

This 4* hotel is 9 minutes walk from the beach. The modern Eurostars Lucentum is located in central Alicante, on Alfonso X Avenue. All of the air-conditioned rooms have free Wi-Fi and there is also a restaurant.

Lucentum Eurostars can be found next to Alicante Central Market, just 10 minutes’ walk from the port. Just opposite the hotel is a tram stop, allowing easy travel around the city.

The spacious rooms all have modern bathrooms and TVs. They also have safes and hairdryers.

The hotel is just a short stroll into the old town with its many tapas bars and eateries. 10-15 minute walk down to the seafront where you can get a lift up to the castle.

It is a great location as it is in the centre near to the Old Town, Marina and shopping, restaurants, everything you need really. The Merkado is right across the road. And the Castle is within a short walking distance.

The suite was very spacious, clean, light and modern with air conditioning.

The rooms are really nice clean as well with plenty of space and over looking the town so we had great views of the city.

There is a good selection at breakfast with Continental and English available. As well as fruit and roasted peppers and courgettes. Some days spicy sausages and Tortilla are available. There is always a good selection of pastries.

Breakfast is buffet style and there was certainly enough variety for everyone to enjoy. The churros are very very good!

Prices start 140$/night for the Superior Double Room. The Junior Suite is 150$/night.

This stylish suite has a large seating area with a sofa and a dining table. It features air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a TV and a fully equipped bathroom. There is also a safe and hairdryer.

This 5* luxury hotel is 4 minutes walk from the beach. With beautiful views of Alicante Cathedral and Santa Bárbara Castle, Hospes Amerigo’s free rooftop spa features a sauna, pool and gym. Rooms offer free Wi-Fi and flat-screen satellite TV.

This elegant design hotel is set in a 19th-century Dominican Convent in Alicante’s old town, 300 m from Postiguet Beach. Hospes Amerigo is within 50 m of the cathedral and Alicante Town Hall.

This is a superb hotel located in Alicante old town right in the middle of fabulous restaurants and bars but just a couple of blocks back from the seafront.

The location is perfect: close to the marina and right next door to the charming old town and restaurants. And just 2 minutes from harbour, beach and old town which is great – loots of places to eat and drink for the lunch and dinner.

The 24h room service menu is quite typical but do note that room service also delivers from the hotel restaurant. The restaurant menu is not provided in the rooms but you will find it from the hotel website.

The Rooms was clean and had a good size. The only minus here is that they don’t really have a door between the entrance and the bathroom

Bed very comfortable and quality linen. Towels are of a good quality and fluffy

The bathroom was large and had a separate shower and bath.

Breakfast is decent and always has a spread of fresh fruits, and the hot selections are mainly egg based. The gym is small and basic, but clean with a few weights and an elliptical trainer. There is also a small rooftop pool.

This 3* hotel is 5 minutes walk from the beach. Set at the foot of Santa Barbara Castle, Hotel Maya is 5 minutes’ walk from Alicante Beach and 10 minutes’ walk from the centre. It has a seasonal outdoor pool, free WiFi and a gym with panoramic views.

All air-conditioned rooms at the Maya have satellite TV and a minibar. The private bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer.

Hotel Maya is an easy 15-minute walk from the centre of the Old Town and only 5 minutes from the gorgeous golden beach. It’s on a main transport route, next to the tram station and bus stops, with the main roads coming together at a roundabout at the back, so it’s easy to get to.

The hotel is modern, bright and well maintained. The rooms were a good size and spotlessly clean, and wifi worked well.

Rooms were absolutely spotless, equipped with mini-fridge, aircon and hairdryer, and cleaned and given fresh towels every day. Beds are pretty firm and  comfortable and very clean with bedding and towels changed every day.

The buffet breakfast is excellent with a wide choice of food. The evening buffet is also great value – 12 Euros including a drink, and the food was excellent and varied.

Pool is small but lovely and clean with a poolside bar. Not that many loungers.

Prices start 50$/night for the Double Room. The Double  Room with Sea View is 65$/room/night.
