Gay Friendly Hotel Marrakech
Gay Friendly Hotel Marrakech

Riad La Maison Rouge or Riad Villa Almeria Hotel & Spa as it’s advertised on booking.com is a gay friendly riad in Marrakech. Located in the Berrima district, 1 km from El Bahia Palace and a 20-minute walk from Jamaâ El Fna Square, Riad Villa Almeria Hotel & Spa offers an outdoor swimming pool with a view of the palace. Hammam and massage treatments are available on site.

The air-conditioned guest rooms at Riad Villa Almeria Hotel & Spa are stylishly decorated and equipped with free Wi-Fi internet access. Each room has an en suite bathroom offering a bathtub and a hairdryer.

The Riad is placed just perfectly far enough away from the centre of the city, to be able to escape from all the noise and thereby have a relaxing stay, but yet so close that it only takes about 15-20 min to reach the main scare Jemaa El-fnaa, and if you come by airplane to Marrakech the riad is situated only about 10 minutes from the airport.

The place is gorgeous, the room was very comfortable and the roof terrace is perfect for relaxing, reading, and enjoying a drink or something to eat

The hamman (spa) was great, prices for massages etc etc were fair and the service very good. Couples can do a hamman together which in short is fabulous!

The patio and terrace are lovely…very comfortable furniture, clean with views over one of the royal residences. There are two restaurants to eat in….upstairs on the terrace or on the undercover courtyard patio.

This interior courtyard offers visitors a wonderful sense of calm after the hustle and bustle of the Medina.

The setting of the Riad is perfect, being within the back streets of the Medina but in a quiet area and a short and easy walking distance to all the sites. It’s reached by a few small winding streets and felt perfectly safe at night. There is always a security guard at the main door and the hotel provides you with a personal mobile phone with a range of pre-programmed numbers if you get lost and would like to be escorted back or need any help.

This truly is a stunning boutique hotel, and it has SUCH an intimate feel and relaxing atmosphere – exactly what you need after a day of exploring Marrakech! I would say Riad 72 is in the perfect location as it’s just far enough from the craziness of the markets, but still within walking distance to everything.

3. Riad Karmela – Gay Friendly Hotel Marrakech

Riad karmela
Riad karmela

Our next suggestion for a gay riad in Marrakech is a deluxe 4* hotel, located in the heart of the old Medina, close to the Souks and an 8-minute walk from the Jamaâ El Fna Square (please be aware that there is limited access to cars and taxis).

It offers a hammam, a sauna and massage treatments.

The Riad Karmela is a real oasis in the busy medina of Marrakesh. This charming riad is located bang in the middle of the busy medina area and offers a calm oasis of high-end hospitality just minutes from the “chaos”.

The location is perfect, just outside the main market area, 10 minutes from the souks and the main square, with good local restaurants nearby and easily walkable to the main dining areas – ask at reception for recommendations!

Like almost everything in the Marrakech Medina, Riad Karmela is a little bit tricky to find when you first arrive, it’s tucked away down a small lane, not directly accessible by car, so ensure that you have good directions or a map pre-loaded onto your phone to avoid wandering in circles if you take a public taxi. I would suggest on arrival, that you book a hotel transfer.

It has an amazing roof terrace, with sun loungers, heaters and covered areas. The communal dining area is amazing with great authentic decor and ambiance. The roof terrace is a perfect sunny spot if you want to top up your tan or read or nap somewhere sunny.

Rooms are in the traditional Riad style with antique furnishings and lost of ornate textiles throughout. The bed is very nice and a smaller single bed at the end of the room which could be used for an extra guest or as a daybed to read and relax if it’s too hot outside. There is also a bowl of fresh fruit and complimentary bottled water which was nice. We had lovely large wooden doors and shutter windows (no glass), and a large bathroom.

Breakfast is lovely, typical home made riad style food. Fresh pastries, breads, roti pancakes, jams, cheeses, fresh fruits and yoghurts, as well as some nice savoury vegetables and fantastic onion omelette! A great self service spread with lovely fresh coffee and juices.

Riad La Terrasse Des Oliviers
Riad La Terrasse Des Oliviers

The riad is about 10 minutes walk to the main souks and 20 minutes to the new town. So ideally located and a peaceful retreat whilst still feeling like you’re in the heart of the action. The taxi to the airport takes about 30 minutes depending on the time of the day you go to Marrakech Airport.

The location, fifteen minutes or so from the main square, but just seconds away from the buzz that is this vibrant city, leaves you feeling that you have really lived with the inhabitants of Marrakesh. Lastly, the riad itself is an ocean of calm. Superb, comfortable rooms clustered around the courtyard, a sunny terrace upon which to relax and soak up the winter sun.

The rooms (suite) is spacious and traditionally decorated with beautiful furniture and lovely lamps. The bathroom, although not luxurious, is large and has shampoo, soap, shower gel and body lotion. (no conditioner). The other rooms and they were all of the same high standard. There are several lounge areas around the Riad to sit and read or have a snack, the terrace is lovely with orange and olive trees, 2 sun loungers and a variety of seating areas.

The breakfasts is way above expectations with breads, fruits, omelette, yoghurt, juices, cake, tea/coffee. Gluten free option also available (another guest requested this with no issues!)

The Riad itself has a beautiful interior and terrace and is incredibly peaceful; a nice break from the chaos of Marrakech itself. The service whilst you’re staying there is second to none as well.
