City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang | Kuala Lumpur | Review

For my third time in Kuala Lumpur I have decided to stay in a hotel close to the party & food & shopping area of Kuala Lumpur: Bukit Bintang. City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang was my hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

I have booked it 2 months in advance and I got a pretty good deal on Booking.com. The room I have booked at City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang was only 30$/night with breakfast included. And the main reason why I have choose to stay in the Bukit Bintang of Kuala Lumpur was the proximity to the shopping area of Kuala Lumpur and nightlife in terms of food options.

How to Get to City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang from KLIA2 Airport

You can get from KLIA2 Airport to KL Sentral first. You can take either the KL Express, Grab for 65 ringgits or take for around 75 ringgits. If you take either the bus shuttle or train then you have to switch to the local transportation and take the MRL Train. Takes 40 minutes in total and it’s direct so no need to change if you have a lot of luggages.

From there to the hotel walk around 14 minutes by foot. Kuala Lumpur is a city build more for cars rather than for people so expect to make some detours to arrive to a crossroad and the right path.

Location @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintan shopping & street food area is 5-10 minutes drive away from the hotel.

There are lot of restaurants in walking distance including Chinese, Indian and Malay. The main shooping areas is 30min walking away but Grab is very cheap – around  7 ringgits to the Pavilion KL Shopping Mall.

The Check In @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

I arrived at the hotel around 4pm because my AirAsia flight from Yangon to Kuala Lumpur had a 55min delay. After giving my passport for check in, paid 100 ringgits deposit for the key (a bit strange because I am used to pay deposit only at the hostels not hotels) and having the key and the ticket & information for the next day breakfast I went to my room.

Even if I am already reached the Genius Level at booking.com did not get any special treatments and a welcoming drink. Being a chain hotel, they should have these kind of small attentions.

Next to the elevator there are 2  vending machine with soft drinks are fixed on the lobby.

The hotels has 2 elevators and my room was located at 9th floor.

The Room @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

City Comfort Hotel is ranked on 78th position of the 346 hotels on Tripadvisor and has an average review rating of over 4.0 so I had normal expectation of the room and the amenities.

Room is spacious given the price we paid. It has many amenities including free bottled water, multiple combination wall power outlet, slippers, shower gel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, combs and even washing powder can be used at their free to use washing machine.

But room does not have safe to put our valuables or laptop. Maybe Breakfast is mandatory included in the room price, so no free coffee and tea in room 😉 only the kettle and 2 bottle of water for free.

Kettle

But I was reading some article on the internet why is not very good to use the kettle in the hotel so I did not use it this time!

The bed is very comfortable and the pillows were just perfect, the shower is also great. I loved the pillows that much that I took a photo of the importer/distributor in the Malaysia so maybe next time I fly to Kuala Lumpur I might buy the pillow

Though there are no fridges in the rooms but there is a vending machine at the corner near the lobby that sells cold canned cold drinks or you may walk to nearby coffeeshops to get hot or cold drinks or buy ice from them.

The Bathroom @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

Toilet

There are some basics available in the toilet like toothbrush, small toothpaste, comb and soap, however there is no shampoo available, only the soap in the shower which does not smell all that well. Also there is no fridge on the room.

Shower
Shower

The shower room was great and big enough. There was only one downside; at arrival there was still some water on the floor and more water in the shower room; maybe the room was just cleaned.

The shower pressure was perfect and after the tired flight from Yangon I stayed more then 20 minutes under the hot water!

Even if I was only me, the shower had towels for 2 people at least!

Room facilities:

Air conditioning, Desk, Wardrobe/Closet, Shower, Hairdryer, Toilet, Bathroom, Bidet, Toilet paper, Satellite Channels, Flat-screen TV, Electric kettle, Upper floors accessible by lift.

TV @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

Besides local TV channels, hotel also subscribed to HBO, Phoenix and BBC channels. But in my room only 7 channels were available and all local ones.

Breakfast @ City Comfort Hotel Bukit Bintang

Included in the rate. It is good and enough to feel full but you won’t enjoy it. They have eggs, toasts, mashed and fried potato, noodles, fried rise, coffee, tea, beans, chicken curry, sausages. I cant say that the taste was amazing, but it was fine. They could make breakfast much better, with adding vegetables and fruits, as it is so cheap there.

I had the breakfast around 9am and the room was already full of people. A big group was already there and the stuff was not handling properly the situation.

The omelette was cold; there were no more glasses for the juice (which was horrible – remind me of the communist juice I had in Romania and no bowls for the milk and cereals.

In 10 minutes they managed to bring more glasses and more fresh eggs and put some vegetables in the tray.

Then I went to look again for a glass and to drink some juice and to make more toast. I left my plate on the table and in less than 1 minute it was gone! They already cleaned my table and other persons were sitting there!

So I wasn’t able to finish my tea or my cold omelette. I went again to take more sausages – which were good and luckily this time my plate was still there!

Not the most beautiful view but it was OK for KL. At least the room had an window which was abble to be opened!
