Dr. Blondy Apartments

Dr. Blondy Apartments Budapest Hungary (2024 Review & Photos)

For my fourth time in Budapest, Hungary the accomodation chosen was Dr. Blondy Apartments. It was made last minute since I did not know exactly I would have traveled to Morocco via Budapest or via other city. Other options were on my list before coming with Dr. Blondy Apartments Budapest. Hotels got very expensive in Budapest in the past years and not to many have opened. But in the same time a lot of apartments are available to book while you are staying in Budapest.

As for this time I was looking for a place to stay in Budapest to be close to the metro or to the bus which goes to the airport since Budapest this time was only for a short 2 days stop over before heading for the long trip to Morocco.

Dr. Blondy Apartments was the only apartment which was within my budget and close to the metro and bus station. The reviews on Tripadvisor and Booking were very good so I decided to book Dr. Blondy Apartments on Booking.com.

Location @ Dr. Blondy Apartments

Only 130 m from the Danube River and 650 m from the Corvin-negyed Metro Station on line M3, the Dr. Blondy Apartments in Budapest was the perfect location to me. There are many ways to go to the main touristic area of Budapest; by foot is a 20min walk or your can take the yellow tram no 2 and reach the downtown within 3/4 stops.

Close to the location you can find a SPAR Supermarket; it’s has everything you want from beer to fresh meat and fruits. As I tip you go when it’s almost closing time, all the pastries (from bred to cookies) are 50% discounted and still are very fresh.

Check in @ Dr. Blondy Apartments

We arrived before the check in time and I had to coordinate with Kati (the blonde landlord of the 2 rooms which are on rent on an old building in Budapest). She welcomed us and since we were a bit tired (early flight from Bucharest to Budapest with Wizzair) and just wanted to pay the room and  take a rest before going for a short sightseeing in the evening). It did not go as planned since Kati started to explain in details all the things we can do in Budapest in 2 days. As it was  well intended it was a bit too much since I already told here that this was my 4th time in Budapest. She even started to show me some photos from NEW YORK CAFÉ BUDAPEST where she went with a friend to have a 10$ coffee; even if I am coffee guru I am not kind of person to pay 10$ for a coffee!

Finally the payment moment come and after showing to us the whole apartment we finally had our time to take some rest. Please note that payment is only cash and no credit card payment it’s possible.

The room had a very, very kitchen design; from the wallpaper (wildrose) to the leopard bed sheet type. There was a double bed but made out of 2 separate bed and the mattress was very thin; to be honest the bed was one of the worse I had every slept; pillows were as well very small and too soft. Good thing about the room was the think it had a inside sink  where you could have washed your hands or teeth without going to the main toilet. This room type I booked had the toilet separated and it was just in front of our room. Good thing was that we were only the 2 person which stayed in the apartment for the whole period.

The bad thing about the room and the apartment was that the furniture was quite old (not to mention the antique TV) the smell of a  old house and lastly a strident smell from a shop located in on the ground floor of the same building – a tibetan shop which was selling antiques and – o boy! That’ smell I will not forget in my entire life; It was not that bad but the room did not a have a fresh air because of it.

Our room did not have the toilet ensuite; it was not a big thing since as mentioned before we had the toilet and shower only for us since no other guest were in the other room. Toilet was separated from the shower room – 2 different rooms. Even if there were a bit small there well clean.

The apartment is renovated with great taste and both the bathroom and the kitchen are very modern only! We stayed only 2 nights and in this time room or bathroom was not clean; if were to stay longer and the place is not clean at least every 2 days it can become a bit dirty.

Kitchen @ Dr. Blondy Apartments

The kitchen was fully equipped with a large fridge, kettle  oven or a microwave. We had breakfast and cooked the dinner  in the kitchen. I was big and recently renovated. It was the main plus of the apartment; if you want to stay longer and to cook the apartment can be a good solution for you.

Prices & Room type @ Dr. Blondy Apartments

Apartment comes with 2 rooms. One room is sold as One-Bedroom Apartment with Backyard View and the other room is sold as Apartment with Street View. We booked the room with the backyard view but it was the wrong decision. We thought that being to the street, it would be noisy but the street is not noisy at all and only a few car pass since it’s more located in a residential area.

The other room is way more better than the courtyard room; it’s more bigger, has more natural light and air and the toilet is ensuite and quite big. Plus it’s located closer to the comun area of the apartment. If we are to book a room at Dr. Blondy Apartments don’t hesitate to book this room – the street view room!

We paid for our stay 90 Euro for 2 nights; that means 45 Euro per night and only accommodation since breakfast is not provided. It was good deal and the location is not bad at all. Next time I will probably try to stay in the same area but will try to secure a hotel in Budapest within months ahead to book what apartment suits me. You can book online Dr. Blondy Apartments on Booking.com or Hotels.com.
