Kal's Studio Apartment Salzburg

Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg | Review | Photos

Surrounded by a large garden with a terrace, Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg enjoys a quiet location on the outskirts of Salzburg, 3 km from the centre.

Salzburg was not on my list to stop during my summer holidays coming from Myanmar but 2 things made the plans to be changed – the flight home would have been from Memmingen Airport, Munich secondary airport to Sibiu, Romania and being with a low cost – Wizzair was the perfect solution in order not to return to Vienna and second was the famous city of Hallstatt which was possible to be done from Salzburg as a day trip.

After the good accomodation found in Vienna and Schladming both in terms of price & facilities I was expecting more or less the same prices for hotels or pensions in Salzburg. I was still looking for a nice pension in Salzburg but the websites I found were not too well updated in terms of photos and prices and could not find a pension I was looking for. The big surprise come in terms of the hotel prices – compared with Vienna the prices were almost double. I could not have found a decent hotel under 60 Euro per night. As the check in days were approaching and still no hotel booked in Salzburg I decided to go again with an apartment Kal’s Studio Apartment even it was above my budget per night (more than 80 Euro). I did not have too many reviews on Tripadvisor  but I knew the place almost new on the market.

Check in @ Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg

We arrived around 9.30am at the apartment a bit too early for the check in. Bridget the owner of the place was just coming back from some chores she was doing and place was not ready yet. Of course we knew that it was too early to check in and we were told that in 1 hour everything would be ready. We went to the local bakery across the street – Butcher Shop Der Mache and we had a  quick brunch and even bought some meat in order to cook at the apartment.

After one hour and a few photos of the yard and the quite bunnies which were there we did the check in. Bridget explained to us about the things to do in Salzburg and we even bought one Salzburg Card to use especially for the bus.

Table

A small table was in the middle of the room; was not too big for 2 person but it was OK for us to have breakfast and dinner on the table.

The room was nicely decorated with nice painting and decorative items which gave the place a very modern and clean look.

A big TV was present on the middle of the room; being the Russia World Cup during my stay at Salzburg it was a nice addition to the place; usually I don’t use the TV anymore but except some big sports events and World Cup is not to be missed!

Entire unit located on ground floor and was not with mountain view but with garden view but this did not make our stay less enjoyable.  Place had a mosquito net as well. Few flies were in the room which seems a bit strange and some were annoying a bit but some horse staple are close to the place and that’s where the flies might have come.

The terrace was small but  cozy and we had our breakfast and coffee every morning on it.

The Bathroom @ Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg

The bathroom was the highlight of the apartment; this was one of the reason why I booked this apartment in Salzburg; the place had just been constructed and the bathroom beside being super big was very nice and well equipped.

The shower place was only half separated by a glass from the rest of the place but it’s was enough for the water not to split in the whole bathroom. There was no support to put the shower gel or the shampoo in the area and had to keep in on the floor. A hairdryer was as well as a amenity as well a bathrobe

Overall Stay @ Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg

Even if it was outside the town and 10 minutes by local bus to downtown the place is located in a very quiet area and has all the amenities we need to make your trip to Salzburg almost perfect. I would say the place suits very well families with children rather the solo travelers.

The studio apartment is attached to the hosts’ home so easy keys collection and hosts there to help if needed. We left the keys in the box inside the room because we check out early in the morning.

The bus into central Salzburg is very easy – bus stop 200m away, costs €2.60 one way, leaves 4 times/hour during weekdays, a bit less evenings and weekends. Brigitte provides a map and timetable to make very easy. 1/2/day/ onger bus passes possible and the Salzburg pass allows free entry to all sights + transport so a really good deal – at €27 for 24 hours in our case. We traveled and visited sights that would have added up to about €60 on our 24-hour pass. Salzburg is stunning , the view from top of cable car is amazing and Kal’s studio the perfect base to explore Salzburg and Hallstatt as well for a day trip!

Price @ Kal’s Studio Apartment Salzburg

We paid for the Studio Apartment 80 Euro per night and we stayed in total 2 nights only. We had to talk the taxi to the main bus station when departing because our bus was very early (the cab price was 17 Euro) and we booked it in advance with the help of Bridget.
