Let the travel begin!

You already know who I am and what I do. In the coming months you will find out where I have traveled in the past 10 years, what I enjoyed and what I recommend.

I have traveled to 22 countries on 2 continents. Time is my main enemy right now in updating all the travel destinations and the stories about each of the places I have visited.

The third continent I will discover will be Africa. On the 27th December, along with 5 other friends (and let’s hope one of them will solve his visa issue) I will be landing in Cairo for a 24 h stop over and a short visit to the Giza Pyramids. If revolutionaries allow it, we might go to the Tahrir Square.

Our next stop will be Ethiopia, the second most populated country in Africa after Nigeria with over 80 million inhabitants.

The mission in Ethiopia? Being in the cradle of civilisationcivilization, our goal will be to find our grand-grand-grand-grand-grant+++fathers. My goal will be to find the best coffee in Ethiopia.

Two days in the capital Addis Ababa and then we will be heading south. Our journey will include Lake Langano where we will be for New Years Eve, The Omo Valley – a Unesco World Heritage Site – well known for its tribes and for the  Homo gracilis fossils discovered in the area.

Christmas will be spent in Lalibela. As you might know Ethiopia is an orthodox country and their calendar is the Coptic calendar also named  Ge’ez calendar. Lalibela is one of Ethiopia’s holiest cities and is also famous for its monolith churches. So Christmas in Ethiopia will be much like the one in Romania.

Next will be Aksum, Debrak, trekking in the Simien Mountains Area, Gonder and Bahir Dar. I will definitely write more things about these places when I am there.

While my friends will be coming back home, I will continue my journey in Africa. After Ethiopia I will be in Uganda from 4 to 5 months, volunteering in an orphanage. Of course, doing some guerrilla spotting and other Ugandan sights.

The next 2 months I will be in Kenya; don’t know the exact itinerary yet, but I will probably stay one month at the seaside.

This is what I will be doing in the next 9 months; while also working as I do have to fund my travel expenses in a way. I wasn’t born rich 😀
