Art Hostel Bangkok | Review & Photos

Having made the mistake to forget my Business Visa papers for Myanmar and not having my laptop with me (first time in many years when I decided not to take it!) I had to stay one more night in Bangkok. The Art Hostel Bangkok was the best deal I could find in a matter or minutes while searching on Booking App to find a cheap place to sleep in Bangkok.

I wanted to stay more or less in the Ekamai Bangkok area and close to S44Room Hotel where I previously slept the nights before. Decided to search for a basic and cheap hostel and the best option was Art Hotel Bangkok. It was the best offer at 9$/night with good reviews and in the same area. If was cheaper than other hostels because it was not refundable.

Location

Located on 3757/15 Sukhumvit 40 Alley on a quite street and only 10 minutes walking to the nearest BTS Station of Ekkamai it’s a good location far away for the busy road of Sukhumvit.

The area is a residencial  one with mainly local people living in houses rather than big condominiums. There are not too many shops or restaurants around the hostel and since breakfast is not included we have to walk at least 10 minutes to a place near by to take the breakfast.

The Reception @ Art Hostel Bangkok

Check in was very fast. In 5 minutes as I already in the room. Passport and money was handed and everything as handle very fast.

Close to the reception it’s a Northern Thai Restaurant which was close when I arrived (late in the evening) and when I left (early in the morning) and I did not have time to try it.

The Room @ Art Hostel Bangkok

The first hotels I stayed ever was in 2011 and it was in Prague. Back then it was a great hostel but now it has no such good reviews. Hostels has become more and more popular in the past years and in the same  time the room size has shrink. Many hostel owners focus more on getting as much beds in the room rather than keeping the room size in accordance with the number of beds.

I was surprise to see how big the Art Hostel room was. Only 4 beds where you can easy fit 6 or even 8! I was the only person to be accommodated on that night and I felt like having my private room.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable with clean toilets, there is a kitchen for self-catering such as tea, coffee, microwave, fridge, make us feel comfortable at home.

Extremely hard mattresses on the other hand but for 1 night it was OK.

I opened the window for some fresh air and I was surprised to see a lot of mosquitos coming very fast in the room. Compared with other hotels I stayed in Bangkok this was the first case. I wondered why and the next day as I was walking to the BTS station I found out the reason. Close by there is the Klong Toey Distribution Pumping Station Waterworks with a open water canal with some dirty and bad smell and which can attract the mosquitos colonies.

I love the artwork in the entire place. The whole place is clean and the fixtures are so chic and modern. In front of the rooms there was these empty big space where people I believe can dry there clothes. I think they can use that space for a recreational area and adding some sofa and a bit TV screen.

The toilets and showers are located on the same flour with the rooms. The WC was decent clean and shower did not tried it because I did not have a towel and none was provided by the hostel.

The staff is very helpfull and friendly. At the checking in and out I had to print some papers. They easily help me and when I asked how much it was they said it was free of charge. In other hostels I stayed in Bangkok they asked for money.

The Breakfast Area

The do have a free snack and coffee place as well. Being on the rush and wanted to eat the magnificence croissant close to Asoke station at an Italian restaurant I did not try the snacks and their free service.

How much cost one room at Art Hostel Bangkok

I paid for my bed in a 4 bed dormitory room 9$/person. Prices for one double room start from 30$/room with private bathroom and beds in 8 dormitory and 4 beds dormitory have the same price – 9$/bed/person. My suggestion is to book the 4 beds dormitory rather then the one
