Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa
In Vietnam is better to double check everything. Even if you are booking a specific room you might get a different room then the described one even if you made the booking in the booking.com or Agoda.
It seems that the same problem happens and happened (with us) for the Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa.
First of all I have sub estimated Dalat and the things you can do in Dalat and the surroundings. I have booked only 1 night in Dalat but we need at least 3 days to explore the city & surroundings and to do the extra activities as rafting or tribe visits.
Best way to check the hotels reviews is to check in at least 2 sources. Let’s say Tripadvisor and the website you are booking the hotel. Tripadvisor has a flow and you have to be careful about it. Period of the review is the most important one and the latest reviews. Even if the hotels has a rating of at lest 4 on Tripadvisor you should check the latest reviews. Maybe the good ones were added 2 years ago and we know how much things can happen in 2 years.
Usually people how book and leave an review on booking do not have to much time and the mark on booking is made out of few things as location, free-wifi, staff and value for the money. Of course guest will give higher marks for the above and even if the room was not accordingly a lower mark on comfort (let’s say the bed was not that good – but rarely happens) won’t influence that much.
I must say I have made my choice of booking the Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa based on bookings reviews rather then the Tripadvisor reviews.
Back to Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa Review. I wasn’t that bad but it wasn’t that great.
Check in at Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa
We arrived early in the morning from Mue Ne by bus and we were a bit tired. Our rooms was not ready (even if it was low season and I always mention the arrival hour on booking) but lucikly for us another rooms was ready. How lucky of us! Being tired we said yes and decided to take it. It wasn’t a bed room (on the last floor with a strange celling and no AC) but was inferior to what you have booked.
Other thing I was more upset; from the beginning the owner was trying to sell as a tour. Why don’t you stay longer? Maybe you can book this tour. I don’t like that kind of approach.
Location Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa
Hotel is well positioned close to a few restaurants and coffee shops and with walking distance from the main night market in Dalat; no more than 10 minutes walking.
First you have to go down on this street around 200m from the main street and head second left. The hotel is first building on the left. Going it’s easy but going to downtown can be a bit difficult. Dalat is located on hills.
The hotel street (above image) is a quite one with no cars as well and only one restaurant and one coffee shop.
The Room
We have booked a double superior room at Dalat Flower Hotel & Spa. As I said earlier another room room was give to us at the last floor. There is a elevator but the last floor you can to climb the stairs; the place is a bit narrowed and with baggage is not that easy.
Even if I booked a double room a twin room was give instead. Beds were OK for 2 people but not 100% comfortable. I would have preferred a king size bed as originally booked.
Room was big; enough space to walk and to keep your baggage; with a closet and sleepers. TV as well (did not switch it on to see if it worked or not)
What was the strange about the room was the rooftop made out of hay; some strange noises during the night (maybe some geckos) were to be heard.
Toilet
Toilet was big but the shower area and the WC were not separated. Amenities were not to many; there was only one soap even if we were 2 people.
Breakfast
Breakfast was not included the room price but since we were given a different room as an extra we were given a free breakfast which we took the day we depart.
I had friend eggs with baggage. It come with a carrot, tomato salad as well. Salad was fresh but the bread was not what I was expecting from a vietnamese baguette.
My girlfriend had the Vietnamese noodles. She had been trying and eating only this kind of noodle during the whole trip to Vietnam and she said the taste of this noodle was quite great!

Next time in Dalat will I choose the same hotel?
Not sure; for 16$ a night the hotel value for the money was OK. Owner was friendly and speak english well. He tried to help us with the bus pick up for the departure – which was a strange affair. First time after she talk with the girl from the bus company he said everything was OK. Then they had a second talk and yelled at the phone and the girl changed her mind and said that we have to go to the bus station to take the bus. Not sure what happened.
He helped us hiring a taxi for a trip around town at a decent price but better rent a moto because is way cheaper. I was to tired and did not have to much time to explore on our own by moto the city of Dalat, Vietnam.
