Chefchaouen was our last stop for the 10 days trip we had in Morocco. Hotel booking was made lastminute, only a few days ahead because we knew our itinerary in Morocco only after we booked the desert tour from Marrakech to Fes. Our first option was not Dar Naya Hotel in Chefchaouen but another 2 boutique hotels in Chefchaouen but since it was too late, the rooms were fully booked.
Chefchaouen or the Blue City how it’s called is a must to visit while in Morocco; personally I liked the most Chefchaouen compared with Fes, Marrakech or the desert safari trip in Morocco.
Location @ Dar Naya Hotel Chefchaouen
We arrived late in the evening from Fes by bus to Chefchaouen and we decided to took a taxi to our hotel in Chefchaouen. The cost was only 20 Moroccan dirham from the bus station. The driver left us at the end of Av. Sidi Abdelhamid road and since we had our map loaded in order to find the hotel we were a bit lost. After entering the Medina twice and trying to find our place we decided to call the owner to help us find the hotel. He came very quickly and he lead us to the place – which was super close from our stop.
If you arrive either by taxi or by foot – it’s quite easy to find the place. At the end of the road is a square and then the Kasbah Gate to enter the Medina. Pass the gate, turn left and after 100 meters on the left side the Dar Naya Hotel is located. The door looks like the image below and it’s written: Dar Naya – Apartment CASA Mueble Amuelada!
Check in @ Dar Naya Chefchaouen
One think I liked about all the check in process in Morocco was the fact that money did not show up in discussion. First it would be a cup of tea, some cookies and a talk about the area. All the time when I asked when should I pay, it was always at the end. I remembered once at a hostel in Berlin, as it was difficult to find a decent ATM had only half of the money to pay and the receptionist did not let me check in till full amount of paid – as if I were to leave the second I just arrived at the hotels!
The owner Saad was very kind and helpful. I could not book the return tickets back to Fes and I asked him if he could buy for it; of course his answer was yes and the next day I had the last 2 tickets for my bus back to Fes and then to Marrakesh and the price I paid was only the tickets prices without any fee added!
Please note that it’s apartment style, so he is not staying at reception for 24h, but he will help you anytime if you need anything 🙂
Room @ Dar Naya
The room is nicely decorated and has your own sitting area inside room. Having a lovely terrace where you can relax with nice view. close to the main square.
The only room available (at least on booking.com) was the apartment with shower. It’s not a very bit – only 16 m² but it’s more than enough for 2 person – if you are traveling with more than 2 baggages it might be a bit too small as there is not too much space to let them. Since the other rooms were not available (even if the place had no other tourists) our room had a 2 beds not a double bed but it was not a big issue.
AC, an old TV, a couch and a glass table in the middle of the room (personally I could have skipped it) were the other amenities of the room.
Bathroom @ Dar Naya Chefchaouen
The bathroom has a very nice design and the shower is separated from the toilet area with a small wall – it’s a bit strange that small wall since it’s a bit too high and you can fell while trying to exist the shower. Soap had been provided but shower gel no. The sink was a bit too small to add all our stuff on it.
Final Thought @ Dar Naya Chefchaouen
Dar Naya is a good place to stay for a couple of nights in the Blue City of Morocco. The rooms are a bit small but clean and tidy. The owner is a great guy and at the checkout it let is do to it after 1pm even if some other tourists were on the way. Should I book again at Dar Naya? Possible yet – but next time I would search for a more boutique hotel in Chefchaouen with breakfast included as there are not too many good options for breakfast around this hotel in Chefchaouen
Price & Bookings @ Dar Naya Chefchaouen
For our stay in Chefchaouen during the month of August (it was high season) we paid 28 Euro per night for one apartment with shower and no breakfast included. The Studio Apartment starts from 30 Euro per night and the Apartment which is the biggest one is 33 Euro per night.
You can book online Dar Naya Chefchaouen for the best prices & availability at Booking.com
