Diem Lien Guesthouse in Mue Ne was our second stop location and hotel in Vietnam. Before booking the guesthouse in Mue Ne I have made a extent research of the location where to stay in Mue Ne.
At the end I have chosen a hotel close to the dunes. I wish I had knew before all the information below before booking a hotel in Mue Ne
What to take into consideration when you book a hotel in Mue Ne.
- Location: Mue Ne is not a compact resort area. The costal line of Mue Ne stretches for almost 20 km from Mr. Dia Rock till the Red Dunes Sands. All over this cost line you can find hotels, hostels and guesthouses in Mue Ne. So depends why are you in Mue Ne. If you are only for the beach try to book a hotel close to Dia Rock and Sea Links Golf Country Club. The beach is a bit larger and with white side and less populated. If you are looking more to see Dunes of Mue Ne you should pick a hotel in the middle of the resort, close to the Fairy Stream. Staying in the actual town is not such a good idea because you don’t have many things to do
- Price: Luxury hotels in Mue Nu are located on the west side of the resort. Here you can have a private beach as well
- Restaurants & Clubs & Bars: I was in Mue Ne in April and it was still low season and the resort looked very bad with no night life activity. Plus, Mue Ne is very popular with the Russian tourists and all the activities are related to them.
Diem Lien Guesthouse Review
Diem Lien Guesthouse is located close to the Fairy Stream in Mue Ne and 3km away from the town and Fishing Village. It’s located on the other side of the road and the beach is 500m away. The beach is very small and a bit dirty. There are not so many people as well. Many people come to Mue Ne not for the beach but only for the sand dunes.
The entrance to the hotel is not very clearly marked. You can take it easily as a front shop rather than a hotel. It is a family run business rather then a hotel establishment (This guest house is manned by three sisters along with their parents; all of them would be helpful and hardworking)
The guesthouse is further than walking distance to the main part of town, but it is very close to many restaurants and shops and walking distance to Fairy Stream and the beach. It’s only a short taxi or motorbike ride (or longer bicycle ride) to the main part of town if you want more options for food and bars.
Rooms at Diem Lien Guesthouse are basic. Don’t expect to much for 17$/night. Get the garden view rooms; are more quite and it should have a view at least while in Mue Ne. The good things about the guesthouse is that is not located close to the street and is not that noisy.
Rooms are clean, bed is quite comfortable (a bit hard for me) AC and fun work. You can also use fridge. Obviously there is also free WiFi.
Room facilities at Diem Lien Guesthouse do include Garden view, TV, Cable Channels, Air conditioning, Fan, Wardrobe/Closet, Shower, Free toiletries, Toilet, Bathroom, Minibar.
The best thing about this guesthouse was the small terrace in front of the room, giving a great view onto the small garden with palms, coconut, lime, mango and you can relax on the hammock provided for free as well.
Breakfast at Diem Lien Guesthouse is not included in the price (at least in the low season). I have order one day and the price is 20.000 VND. It’s OK but it was not something I would have ordered the next day.
Bathroom – quite big. The only thing I did not like what the the shower was close the toilet and not separated by anything.
One drawback in our room was the water heater which takes about 5-7mins to start and the water pressure wasn’t powerful enough when it’s switched to hot water.
How much does a room costs at Diem Lien Guesthouse ?
These larger rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a cable TV and a minibar. They can accommodate 3 guests and have an en suite bathroom fitted with free toiletries.
