Excellent stay, couldn’t have asked for more. Considering this is a really dog friendly place, everywhere was extremely clean.

The garden and barns were lovely to look at and a little brook down the bottom of the garden was brilliant for our dog.

The hosts were extremely welcoming and all provided a brilliant breakfast experience as well.

What a find, a real gem of a place and SO dog friendly. First time our dog has come away with us and what a joy.

Dick and his team are wonderful and so friendly. Dick is very funny, such a people person.

Right job for him. Rooms beautiful. We stayed in The Wardrobe (not literally).

Beds are out of this world, the mattress so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me but car was too small and I think Dick would have noticed :).

Breakfast absolutely amazing, you won’t need lunch or dinner after one of Dick’s breakfasts.

Such a lovely area to stay in and so much to do too. Walking straight from the Barn is brilliant too.

We will certainly be back and I am telling my friends about our wonderful stay.

2. Hotel Helen Browning’s Royal Oak 4* – Pet Friendly Hotels Wiltshire

Situated in Swindon, 7 km from Coate Water Country Park, Helen Browning’s Royal Oak is a pet-friendly, dining pub with rooms and boasts a children’s playground and terrace. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar.

The rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and free WiFi. Certain units have a seating area where you can relax. You will find a coffee machine in the room. Every room is equipped with a private bathroom. For your comfort, you will find free toiletries and a hairdryer. Guest will have access to a shared courtyard.

Breakfast is provided at the property. Guests can enjoy an à la carte menu that changes most days in accordance with the season. The food served is organic and freshly picked from the properties farm and neighbours.

The property had everything a Ridgeway walker could want – lovely [dog friendly] accommodation, lovely/quirky pub, decent food/drink and farm shop.

Staff and the owners were great at the customer service side of things.

Really liked the separate guest lounge by the rooms block with honesty box approach that made us feel welcome as trusted friends.

Great atmosphere in the pub for dinner. Good food. Plenty of veggie options.

The hotel was clean, very quaint and cosy.
Breakfast was a perfect countryside breakfast (choice of cooked breakfasts, fresh coffee/tea/pastries etc).

Dog friendly, if you’re a dog person I’d definitely recommend taking your fluffball here with you, I travelled for work, but it would be extremely pleasant for a personal trip.

Having read the book, ‘Pig’ we were keen to see the farm project. We enjoyed the farm safari in the Defender with James – it was brilliant, see separate review. The safari set us up nicely for dinner in the pub and, of course, we chose farm produce from a simple but excellent menu. The staff are all lovely and the place has a great feel to it.

Our dog friendly room was great, with a fantastic central honesty bar meaning lots of tea, coffee etc. Lovely bathrooms, good WiFi, nice simple and cosy furnishings. Basically lovely!

Will definitely recommend!

3. Howard’s House Hotel 3* – Dog Friendly Hotels in Wiltshire

Located in Teffont Magna, Howard’s House Hotel features a restaurant, shared lounge, garden, and free WiFi.

A Full English/Irish breakfast is available daily at the hotel.

Howard’s House Hotel offers a terrace.

Built in 1623 and set in the Nadder Valley, this elegant country hotel is 10.7 miles from Salisbury and 12.4 miles from Stonehenge.

The 10 individually decorated country-style rooms with en suite bathrooms have flat-screen TVs and high-end toiletries

We booked a night at Howard’s House to break up our long drive down to Devon. We’d have been really happy to stay longer, rather than driving on. We had a wonderful experience. Yes, there is no reception desk, as one reviewer said, but it’s a very small hotel and someone arrived instantly we rang the bell. We had a standard room overlooking the pretty garden, which was spacious and comfortable.

Dinner was superb. Excellent in every aspect, with an interesting wine list to choose from as well. Breakfast was equally delicious.

The hotel is dog friendly too, with walks from the door, yet only a 20 minute drive into Salisbury.

We will certainly be returning in the spring – and it won’t just be a stop off on a drive to somewhere else. It’s a destination in itself!

Lovely hotel in an idyllic setting. Beautiful room.

Very flavoursome, carefully prepared and presented food, made with locally-sourced ingredients. Service was charming, if a little dreamy at times.

The hotel is perfectly situated for a night away from London, a visit to Stonehenge or a break from the traffic jams on the A303.

They allow dogs and there are excellent dog walks from the village.
