Video Review of The Sukosol Hotel Bangkok

Guest rooms at Sukosol Hotel are elegantly furnished with Thai décor accents and Art Nouveau-style teakwood.

They all include a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a seating area and en-suite bathrooms.

An array of diverse gourmet cuisines is on offer thanks to the 5 restaurants of the hotel.

The restaurants, the lobby and the public areas are all fitted with antiques, artefacts and curios from around Asia and across the globe.

This polished hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Phaya Thai transit station, 3 km from the Jim Thompson House Museum and 8 km from The Grand Palace.

Refined rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and safes, plus minibars, an tea and coffee making facilities.

Some provide access to a club lounge with free cocktails and snacks.

Dining options consist of an ultra chic bar, a cafe and 2 restaurants. Other amenities include a gym, a souvenir shop, and meeting and event space, plus a spa.

There’s also a rooftop terrace with an outdoor pool, sun loungers and a bar. Breakfast is available.

Mixing colonial-style architecture, modern amenities and Asian aesthetics, The Sukosol Hotel (formerly Siam City Hotel) is a wonderful place to stay for a truly unique, five-star Thai experience.

The 500-room hotel is located beside the Phayathai Skytrain and Airport Rail Link stations.

In the middle of Bangkok’s famed royal district, the hotel is within easy reach of the best sightseeing, shopping and dining that the City of Angels has to offer.

The hotel boasts award-winning restaurants, rooftop pool, fitness centre, gift shop, jeweler, and more.

Location: The hotel is strategically located near Phaya Thai station which is also the where you could connect to the airport link.

Overall experience: The hotel staff are very accommodating. I like this hotel because they are eco-friendly.

Also, the rooms are spacious. What i didn’t like though was that there are times that the wifi is easily disconnected and it would be a bit difficult to reconnect.

I was impressed by the level of service and attention to detail, for the reasonable price. Things I liked best:

1. Most comfy mattress ever
2. Eco-friendly hotel (complimentary water is in glass bottles, toiletries are in pump bottles not daily-sized bottles)

3. Food is good at the restaurants. Deli sells pastries at half price in evenings (it closes at 7pm). Bar has a pianist in evenings.

4. Walking distance to PhayaThai station (for BTS and for train to airport).

Stayed here because of their green initiatives.

Loved the sustainability room on the twelfth floor.

Check in and out was seamless and it was a shame that I did not explore the hotel more as it was on my last night.

Will definitely be back nonetheless.

Nice hotel, even its in middle of the city lot of green inside the premise.

Clean rooms, nice pool and quality spa.

Breakfast is really good. Friendly staff. I was there with my family and we all enjoyed our stay.
Rates bit expensive.

Not very near to the city center, shopping malls. If you can get a meter taxi then you are OK.

I attended the meeting at the Sukosol in July 2019. The hotel uses environmental friendly product and the meeting was held with Green meeting concepts.

The venue is convenient to reach by public transport, BTS. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This green hotel walks it’s talk. Has great amenities like it’s pool in addition to conference facilities.

The staff are friendly and work hard meeting all our needs even across language barriers (we sadly didn’t speak Thai). The food and food choices are fantastic.

The products in the room and daily glass bottles of water a great green touch.

The room is nice and big. The bed is comfortable.

I know this side of the building has recently been renovated so the rooms look very clean.

The only complain I have is that I tried to support the green initiative of re-using the towels and the bed sheet, but the cleaning lady kept changing them.

Also, I ordered a breakfast through room service once.

I was expecting rye bread to come with the egg white omelet, but instead I got an assortment of pastries, muffins and cakes which was bad for a diabetic like me.

Nice hotel lovely decoration , good environment with a lot and well design space that mixed with green of nature, all facilities are in the good quality , all the hotel staff are very friendly and so welcome, I would love to ask my friend to be here for drink and food soon.

Facilities – Pool, spa, restaurant & a locker room to shower/relax (very nice if you have already checked out.)

Green initiative – use soap dispensers, reusable water bottles and don’t change sheets signage. First time I’ve seen the reusable water bottles, it’s a great concept.

The standard “Deluxe” room are actually quite spacious in itself

– The hotel is close to Phaya Thai BTS station and Airport Link station, but it’s rather difficult to find the exit when you are coming from the Airport Link station, ask the BTS station staff in the ticket counter for directions

– There are two traffic lights once you get off at Exit 4 in the Phaya Thai BTS station to the hotel.

The traffic lights takes more than 10 minutes to turn into green, and the both sets of traffic lights turns red/green at the same time, so when it is turning green, make sure you have to run very quickly to cross the road for the two sets of traffic lights.

When the traffic lights is on red, be prepared to wait for a long time, as the crossings are very busy with traffic

– There are two 7-eleven nearby for drinks…etc.

There are a couple of restaurant and a standard quality food court at the commercial building next to the hotel for some quick eats if you super hungry. Otherwise, the neighbourhood where the hotel is not really appealing for tourists.

– The swimming pool is small but decent looking, the water temperature is good, but the floor can get very slippery, be careful when you walk, don’t run in the swimming pool.

The “Jacuzzi” is the “bed” kind, you need to lie down to enjoy it. However, it broke down when we were there.

When you have changed in the swimming pool, you can’t get into the swimming pool directly, instead you have to pass through a public area before you head to the pool.

– There are no toothbrush and toothpaste provided in the hotel room, if you ask housekeeping they are very happy to provide them with you.

– For those who need conditioner for their hair, there is no conditioner as well in the hotel room.
– The hotel room wifi is excellent and is free, allows multiple device to log-in at the same time

– There is a “radio” function at the control panel of the room which plays relaxing, easy-to-listen music and songs

– The bar is a nice area to relax, but unfortunately it closes way too early

– A hidden gem of the hotel is that there is an outdoor courtyard with fountains, sofas, staircases and a two storey “classical” building next to the main wing that serves a good backdrop for photoshoot, and is popular for couples to do their wedding photography.

I loved the modern, contemporary style of the rooms. This is an eco-friendly hotel trying to avoid single-use plastic.

As such it is a role model in Thailand which is together with China, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam among the 5 countries responsible for over 60 percent plastic rubbish in the oceans.

Perfect hotel for couples as well as business and solo travellers.

The breakfast here was top notch. You select two dishes on menu with a wide range of Asian and western dishes as well as a drink.

We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning and looked forward to it.

The location was excellent. Easy 10 mins walk to Asok station, plenty of nice, affordable thai massages up the street (highly recommend Araya massage).

Unfortunately though it’s next to this German Hofbrauhaus restaurant which gets particularly rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights, but not much the hotel can do.

We can recommend to anyone who looks for small boutique & green hotel in the centre of Bangkok.

Housekeeping, front door security guards are also very helpful and outstanding kindly assistance. Food and restaurant are beyond expectation, especially breakfast is extremely delicious.

Rooftop bar is breathtaking view, staffs are nice and friendly. what else we could ask for more!! Definitely we will return to stay at Akyra S.20 again.

Thanks to everyone for making our Bangkok trip so unforgettable.

This eco friendly boutique hotel is small, but makes up for it with the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in!

Not to mention at breakfast you have the choice of choosing two menu items!

Big thank you to Thor in the concierge for your excellent service and for going above and beyond for us in arranging activities in Bangkok.

Very friendly and he took the highest level of initiative and service excellence. Wish I left a bigger tip.

Guests will feel good inside out. Sivatel Bangkok offers its distinctive brand of modern Thai hospitality to both leisure and business travelers, ensuring the best kind of experience this city can give.

Sivatel has never failed me since the first time I checked in several years ago. The location, the amenities and the service still remain high standard though I see changes along the way.

It used to provide body lotion but no longer which is a little disappointed.

I am heartened to see it moving into an eco green friendly hotel and has received recognition along the way. The staff are friendly and efficient.

LOCATION

The Luxury Boutique Hotel Sivatel in Bangkok is located in a prime location, the central business district and is just 5 minutes walk from Ploenchit BTS Sky train station. Proximity to shopping malls.

The hotel is eco-friendly and has been awarded by the Tripadvisor – Certificate of Excellence – for the last four years.

How to get there: Many options how to get there for instances: Sky train (which links directly to the airport Suvarnabhumi), taxi (about 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic), local bus + tuk tuk (slower but cheaper).

If you are trying to find it yourself, make sure you have a map because the streets in Bangkok are big and long; and getting lost would cost a lot of time.

Taxi is cheaper than tuk tuk but depending on the day, I would recommend the use of motorbikes because Bangkok traffic can be pretty congested.

The 5* boutique hotel is surrounded by a few supermarkets and some street vendors.

The streets are pretty busy by traffic but the hotel organises transportation whenever you need. Koh San Road can be reached by taxi within 25 minutes.

FIRST IMPRESSION

When my friend and me arrived at the hotel by taxi, the concierge opened the door and took our luggage – very courteous and outstanding service.

We were then welcomed by a very friendly staff member that offered us some beverages, biscuits and we also received an “Oshibori”, which is a hot wet towels to clean one’s hand before eating.

In Thailand, this seems to have a hygienical purpose.

A very smooth check-in, some helpful informations and got escorted to our suite, therefore excellent first impression.

ROOMS

The suite was very clean, comfy, very spacious (over 65m²) and fitted with everything that you can possibly imagine: King Size Bed, 2x flat screen TV’s with iTV, good Sound System, a very big and cozy Lounge, Air Conditioning, Desk, Carpeted Sofa, Shower, Bathtub, Hairdryer, Bathrobe, Telephone, Safe, iPod dock, Rooms Service on request, Wake-up Service, etc.

It felt like a home sweet home apartment, with a probably better skyline view that you can enjoy at home – haha.

LAYOUT, SERVICE & FACILITIES

The hotel offers a delicious breakfast buffet with omelettes with a variety of ingredients, pad thai, cereals, bread, coffee, tea, fruits and so much more.

The highlight of the hotel is the infinity pool, gym and sauna. The hotel offers other facilities as well such as: fast wi-fi connection, the use of three iMac’s, Concierge Service, 24-hour Security, CCTV System, excl. Massage & Spa Treatments, Photocopying, Car Rental, ATM on site, Tour Desk, Currency Exchange, Laundry, Babysitting, etc.

STAFF

The staff is super friendly, makes you feel very welcoming and home. They always offer you the best, with all their respect and discreetly. The main staff speaks Thai and English.

SUMMARY

To summarise an awesome stay, I would like to thank Sivatel once again for making us feel so welcoming and special.

The highlights during this stay were the cozy bed, the outstanding service and the infinity pool.

This incredible stay in the 5* luxury boutique hotel Sivatel in Bangkok has got us a total different Bangkok experience.

This is because you are in the heart but feels like far far away from the high polluted, populated Bangkok city and by my other experience whilst staying in other hotels / hostels, I can assure you, this is a perfect getaway.
