A very sweet hotel right smack in the heart of Golden. Short walk to both the Coors Brewery and the Colorado School of Mines. The room was decorated in a charming fashion, and I appreciated the eco-friendly touches like the shampoo and soap dispensers. Coffee maker and fridge in the room. Front desk woman was quite nice and let us both check early as well as have a late departure. Room was much quieter than I would have expected.

Likes:
-Awesome Coffee shop called “higher grounds” right across the street, better than Starbucks both in price and friendliness
-Front desk area had a nice looking water canister of either fresh cucumber water or lemon water
-Our room had a pull out sofa bed/couch with the TV as an extra living room area which was great for us when we wanted a little “me” time.
-LOVED the shampoo and conditioner available in the rooms, smelled great, and eco friendly.

This hotel has a wonderful “in- town” location with friendly staff and convenient parking. The restaurant in the lobby was a great night spot. The food was tasty and a good value. The bar was really hoping with attentive staff and friendly customers for sure. We had breakfast and had the same experience there. Second plus was the ECO products in the bath. Very nice touch.

Eco-friendly soaps and shampoos, clean sheets and what felt like a memory-foam mattress, along with the hotel’s character and unique design, make this a place I will return to.

The southwestern decor is very nice, customer service was great and the lobby, restaurant and room were all very clean and fresh feeling. We loved the large choice of dining and entertainment within a short walk of the hotel and breakfast on Sunday morning at the hotel restaurant was delicious. All in all it was a great visit. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in September, 2019. We had a double queen room facing Table Mountain with a nice balcony. Even though it faced busy Washington Street, it was not noisy after about 10pm. We loved our room. It was big and nicely decorated in a southwestern motif. The beds were extremely comfortable. The southwestern decor throughout the hotel is very nice. We did not have any trouble parking in the hotel’s two garages, although we ate dinner at the hotel both nights and we were not out at night. The food at the hotel’s southwestern style restaurant was delicious.

2.  Far View Lodge 3* – Eco Friendly Hotels Colorado

Far View Lodge
Far View Lodge

This Colorado lodge is located in the Mesa Verde National Park. This lodge offers 3 restaurants and a refrigerator in every room.

The Far View Lodge has tickets and information on the guide tours of the area. Free Wi-Fi is available.

Guest rooms at the Far View are equipped with a coffee maker and hair dryer. The rooms have a balcony and a small refrigerator.

Guest at the Far View Lodge can visit attractions within the Mesa Verde National Park including archeological sites and cliff dwellings.

Within the Mesa Verde National Park, this casual hotel with a southwestern vibe is 6 miles from the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum and 10 miles from the ancient dwellings at Cliff Palace.

Featuring balconies with park views, the cozy rooms lack TVs and have handcrafted furnishings. All provide complimentary Wi-Fi and mini fridges, plus tea and coffeemakers.

Amenities include a warmly decorated restaurant with a patio and park views, and a relaxed bar. There’s also a tennis court and a rustic lounge. Breakfast and parking are available.

Far View Lodge sits in the heart of the nation’s richest archaeological preserve, where amazing cliff dwellings bring to life the culture of the Ancestral Puebloan people. The lodge provides comfortable rooms with amazing views and is home to the award-winning Metate Room that delivers delicious and sustainable cuisine. Guided bus tours are available that provide and in-depth historical overview of the ancient people and dwellings.

Loved the remoteness, quite and beautiful natural surroundings. National Park class and rooms were eco-friendly, very clean and comfortable.

Restaurant had excellent food and great service. We loved the unique location of this lodge within Mesa Verda National Park and the property is well maintained and managed.

It’s a historic hotel built in the late ‘60s or early ‘70s for the explicit purpose of fitting in with the National Park in which it resides, and allow guests to fully enjoy the Mesa Verde experience. In short, there is no TV, a fair-to-middling WiFi connection, and some updated appliances, furniture and good beds, although even the fully remodeled rooms show wear-and-tear. Still, it’s all about location. Sitting in the park about 30 minutes from the entrance it affords terrific access to the cliff dwellings and trails in the park. The campgrounds, by comparison, are closer to the entrance and further away from what’s interesting. The Cortez, Colorado, motels are an additional 10-15 miles away from the entrance.

The views from the Deluxe Kiva rooms are magnificent with no light pollution. (Some non-deluxe lodge rooms do have minimal light pollution from Lodge lights.) However, stargazers should be alert for smoke warnings from wildfires and pay attention to the phase of the moon. Both smoke and the brightness of the moon can mask the stars. We saw mule deer, coyotes, and a wild horse walk close by our balcony while we stayed (also flying bats). It is very quiet and relaxing to sit out on the balcony.

Bring food for breakfasts, though. The Lodge only supplies coffee, orange juice, and some not-so-ripe fruit in the lobby. Yogurt parfaits can be bought. A nearby place to purchase more for breakfast is a quick serve restaurant that I will not review as I have nothing kind to say about it. The rooms come equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. I suggest you plan on using them. Dinner can be had in the Lodge restaurant, the Metate Room.

Eco-friendly soap, body wash, conditioner and shampoo are supplied and the showers get hot quickly. The rooms do lack sufficient power outlets for recharging electronic devices. The management could remedy this by providing electric lamps that have outlets built into the base as many hotels have, but as it was we had to pull the bed out to reach one outlet and use an extension cord with multiple outlets to meet our demands.

Mesa Verde is all about quiet reflection and wonder over the ancient Pueblo dwellings and archeological sites, and the trails that take you through the breathtaking scenery and Juniper and Fir countryside. A large part of the park is fire-damaged, but even those areas present interesting scenery to drive and walk through.

Staying at the Far View Lodge allows for a more complete immersion for this experience because of its location and design. I highly recommend it. Just accept it for what it is and don’t expect a standard luxury hotel experience. The Lodge has its own character. Accept that and you’ll enjoy your stay.

3. St Julien Hotel and Spa 4* – Eco Friendly Hotels Colorado

St Julien Hotel and Spa
St Julien Hotel and Spa

This upscale spa hotel and conference center is located 0.7 miles from the University of Colorado Boulder Campus and a 5-minute walk from the Pearl Street Mall entertainment area.

Polished rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, Italian linens, 4-poster beds and minibars, plus views of the mountains or downtown. They also have bathrooms with designer toiletries and walk-in showers. Suites add separate sitting areas and balconies.

There’s a fine-dining restaurant and a sophisticated bar, plus a lap pool, a whirlpool and a fitness center.

Style and genuine hospitality meet inside our casually elegant, locally-owned hotel in Boulder, Colorado. A stalwart of the local community, we showcase artwork and live music from local artists, as well as Boulder Lifestyle Packages that allow guests to enjoy the destination as a local would. Home to Jill’s Restaurant & Bistro, T-Zero Cocktail Bar and Spa at St Julien, guests enjoy our prime location in downtown Boulder and find themselves just steps from both popular dining and shopping at the outdoor, pedestrian-only Pearl St. Mall, and miles of hiking and biking trails at nearby Boulder Creek and beyond.

I think it’s so important to stay in a hotel that can not only provide comfort but quiet sophistication as well, especially when traveling for a 70.3 mile race. I chose the St. Julien Hotel to stay during my race weekend because I knew they’d be able to provide all fo the necessary things I needed to ensure a prepared and relaxing weekend. I loved how comfortable and stocked the rooms were, and the bottle of oxygen in the mini bar was a plus! Grabbed the with me for before the race.

Their restaurant, Jills, was delicious and had so many options, from escargot to truffle mac and cheese and everything in between. Great options for pre-post race meals. The couple at the table beside me was also racing and when I went for dinner the night before the race, the man ordered breakfast for the next morning, that of which the restaurant staff was more than happy to do (taking note for next race!).

The spa was wonderful and the masseuse’s really know what they’re doing when it comes to deep tissue, which is my go-to. I had to bring my bike up to my room and the bellman staff were really kind in literally doing it for me when I was so beat from the race. They really pay proper attention to their guests and were really kind and helpful.

If you can, grab a room facing the mountains! This seems like a great, centrally located hotel for gatherings, weddings and even meeting up with friends. While wonderful, it can be a bit loud in the evenings if you’re facing the courtyard. Noise tones down at around 10pm regardless, and I loved that staff made sure of that for people like me who are up at 3am for racing. I wouldn’t look twice for a luxury boutique experience while in Boulder.
