The whole thing comprises of 4 different buildings which made it quirky! We loved watching the stars in the glass igloo and cooking sausages in the tipi. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. It’s is all very well looked after by the hosts and we were made to feel very welcome. Located a 10 minute drive away from Rovaniemi itself so pretty secluded but close enough. We didn’t want to leave and would definitely recommend to anyone.
The location, right on the lake, the cosy buildings, the cool igloo, the unique sauna, the sustainable focused concept and Last but certainly not least the amazing hosts!
Ollero Eco Lodge is a perfect place for a getaway close to nature and yet close to the city and sports activities. The pictures do not do justice to the premises, the lodge is beautiful, facilities are modern and yet you get the feeling of history as well. All the communication was easy and the hosts most helpful and friendly. Everything operates perfectly. The glass iglu is simply an amazing experience as well as the new sauna.
The main sleeping quarters are functional and comfortable. It is totally quiet and peaceful and the woods as well as the river are magnificently beautiful. Our whole family with teenagers and young adults enjoyed the experience of staying at Ollero Eco Lodge! I highly recommend this place. If you are looking for accommodation around Rovaniemi, look no further!
It is an old-new place with beautiful interior and eco-friendly. The host is very friendly and helpful. The property is on a big piece of land in front of a lake (frozen now).
Beautiful log cabin by a frozen lake. Authentic, rustic Lapland style. Added bonus of a small Kota with fire pit, plus a glass igloo, with bed on the shore of the lake! Very private. Sledges for kids, very safe, pretty setting. Choice of places to sleep.
Well stocked kitchen with a few essentials like tea and coffee, hand knitted socks to wear inside. They have tried to make it as eco friendly as possible with good recycling facilities and sustainable plates, cups etc. A lovely place to stay if you are keen for a Finnish experience.

he shutdown and challenges of local economy made us to seek for good quality holiday location in Finland offering good food and services. We couldn’t have chosen better by choosing the one week full activity program at Naali Lodge! We were spoiled with delightful breakfast at Tapio restaurant, carefully chosen activities, tasty lunches during day trips, good discussions with our guide Thierry, the best ever sauna in commercial location and amazing dinners at soon legendary restaurant Tapio. Finally we have in Finland an excellent accommodation combined with a world-class gourmet restaurant in relaxed atmosphere.
Naali Lodge is run by true professionals Thierry and Catherine Chevillard. Interestingly they know Finland really well. Thierry has qualified himself to a professional wilderness guide in Finland. Catherine looks after practicalities and has created a beautifully harmonious atmosphere in the lodge.
Program is fun and let’s you concentrate on nature and outdoors without any concerns. After the activities sauna is waiting for you before the dinner.
Rooms are very comfortable, spacious and decorated with good taste. Showers and toilets are shared among three rooms. All facilities are spotless clean. Very comfortable bed, beautiful linen and decorations.
We look forward going back and left with a new booking. Highly recommended.
The lodge itself was absolutely lovely- cosy and beautifully decorated, with everything we needed for our stay. Our hosts, Thierry and Catherine, were so welcoming and Thierry was a brilliant guide on the walks, he even took some gorgeous photos for us! I was 19 weeks pregnant when we visited and Thierry adjusted the walks and activities to accommodate me and ensure I felt comfortable throughout.
Another huge highlight was the restaurant. Connor and Johanna were wonderful hosts and the food was brilliant, especially the sourdough!!! Connor catered well for me as a pescatarian. Beautiful food in a lovely setting each day.
It was also great to meet the resident pets, especially Neko the cat!
A very sympathetic lodge in a rather remote location. The rooms are very comfortable and furnished and equipped with very good taste. The best thing is the total absence of commercialism. On the premises there is an amazing restaurant Tapio. The owners preferred not to call it fine dining so we wish to name it laid-back fine. It is gaining attention all over Finland and definitely for a reason!

A breakfast buffet is complimentary. There’s a sophisticated cocktail bar, a lavish Italian restaurant with a gold ceiling, and a rooftop terrace.
Check-in process was swift and the staff were very friendly to us. The triple room we booked was not just a standard double room with an extra bed but a really large room so there was enough space for the guests to spread around bags and still have place to walk around. The double room was cozy and enough for two people to get comfortable.
The bathrooms were bright and well stocked with all amenities including bath salts (which unfortunately none of us used). The triple room had a kettle and some tea bags but the standard double did not have this which would’ve been nice. However, they do provide a steam iron and ironing table which was very welcome after having traveled for 8 days and ending up with crumpled clothes.
The breakfast spread was very impressive and a good selection of fruits and other vegetarian stuff which was good for our entire group. The hotel offers a selection of restaurants and bars (including a sky terrace) none of which we went to but were all looking full whenever we passed by.

Here’s a place on everyone’s bucket list, and if you haven’t learned about it…it will be!
These tree-house like “nests” are perfectly situated in the outskirts of downtown Rovaniemi, to allow panoramic views of the forests, but also close enough to the airport!
We stayed in a two bedroom glass house during our time in Rovaniemi in January. The snowy forest scenery surrounding the hotel is picture perfect, we really enjoyed exploring the surrounding snowy forest and the walk up to the hotels look out point for wonderful views.
We booked the glass house as we loved the idea of the glass wall allowing you to see the surrounding nature. We were not disappointed by the stunning view. It was such an experience to wake up seeing the snowy Forrest from bed. The glass houses are located higher up a hill to the rest of the rooms, which ensures you have a great view out. They are a 5 minute walk from reception and the restaurant.
The cabin apparently sleeps 6 people, however it would be extremely tight for 6. The two of us enjoyed having additional room in the cabin to ourselves. There are 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms ( one with sauna) lounge with mini kitchen and balcony. The style of the cabin is minimalistic, would be nice to have seen some more luxurious items/ fabrics in the glass house for the amount that is charged.
Santa Claus village is a safe 20 minute walk away down a pedestrianised road, a lovely walk through the snowy trees! The hotel does offer a shuttle bus which needs to be paid for.
Apart from Santa Claus village there is not much to do within walking distance from the hotel. There is much more variety for food and restaurants in the city, which is only a ten minute taxi away.
The breakfast included in the stay is fairly basic, and we felt it was a shame that the hotel did not sell snacks or other food apart from that served in Rakas throughout the day.
The hotel promotes themselves as being a good place to see the northern lights, however the cabins are not facing the north and unless you had a very strong display you would not see them sitting in your cabin. More information on this should be provided by the hotel.
The treehouses are a short walk from the lobby building and restaurant. They were very new when we stayed and everything was absolutely spotless. There is no phone so you communicate with reception by whatsapp. There is a TV but hidden behind a curtain, which is a lovely touch because it doesn’t distract from the big draw, the end wall of the treehouse which is glass and overlooks the valley full of snowy birches.
The bed was centrally placed within the room and was a four poster with an abundance of luxury cushions spread over it and great quality bed linen. One of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on.
There is also a bunk bed hidden above the wardrobe which gives a real treehouse feel. Mini bar was very well stocked, there is also a Nespresso and all other amenities you’d expect from a good hotel. Including, fast and free internet.
Breakfast, in the main building was good. Bacon, frankfurters, smoked fish, porridge, cereals, frui, cold meats and cheeses. The juice machine is controlled by an ipad – which was fun. Only minor gripe, the eggs were a bit overcooked, not just firm scrambled eggs but a little burnt.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it.The service is very good, the accommodation is unique and it’s a very peaceful play to stay.
How much does a room costs at Arctic TreeHouse Hotel?
