The resort is lush with wonderful water views. The new fitness center is state of the art and the spa is clean and well run.
The grounds are breathtakingly beautiful…very tropical and lush with many places to hide away and relax.
The beach is small, but has really nice sand and plenty of shade. Great reefs right offshore for snorkeling…and the beach loungers are really well padded and comfortable. Beach toys for the kids are available from the lifeguard.
The room we stayed in was in the Pineapple House. It was clean, pretty, and had a great bed and bathroom. I loved the big bathtub and the separate walk-in shower. My favorite place to sit was the chaise. Our balcony felt very private due to surrounding landscaping, but had a great view of the pool and ocean. I also really appreciated the instructions we were given about using the air conditioner and making sure doors and windows were closed while it was on (eco-friendly!). It was also a nice touch for them to include a vape-mat mosquito repellent unit in the room.
Food was very good (except for one evening when my fiance’s pork dish came out cold). There was a great variety and I loved that they use veggies from their own garden whenever possible. The herb vinaigrette was delicious and so were their homemade sorbets and ice creams! The atmosphere in the restaurants is very nice as well. I especially enjoyed the farm-to-table night where the weather cooperated and we were able to eat in candlelight on the upper terrace.

3. Jakes Hotel, Villas & Spa 4* – Eco Hotels Jamaica

Jakes Hotel
Jakes Hotel

On a rocky Caribbean coast, this relaxed, whimsical hotel is a 9-minute walk from Treasure Beach and 2.1 km from Great Pond.

Featuring beds with mosquito nets, the colorful individually decorated rooms come with ceiling fans, and decks or verandas. Some rooms include mini fridges, iPod docks and/or outdoor showers. Upgraded rooms have kitchens, living areas and/or air-conditioning, while cottages and villas with up to 5 bedrooms are also available. Some units have pools and/or room service.

Amenities include a thatched-roof bar, and a restaurant with outdoor dining and a dance floor. There are massages, yoga and art classes, and fishing trips.

Maybe you’ve heard that Treasure Beach, Jamaica is a magical place. We like to think we had a hand in making some of the magic. It’s certainly had a hand in making us. Please come and visit Jakes to see for yourself. Rooms. Beautiful rooms. Rooms with Ocean Views. South Coast, Jamaica, Deluxe Ocean Views. Garden views. Funky nomad-style design. Bohemian-inspired interiors.

We put the bang in Bungalows. History lives in our Cottages. We have Roots. Alex Haley’s Roots. And charm. Have we mentioned that our Rooms and Bungalows and Cottages and Villas are all terribly, terribly enchanting? And wildly comfortable, too. You won’t want to leave.

It’s a very unique small inn owned by the Hensell family. Father Perry is the creator of the famous movie, The Harder They Come and the roots of Jamaican culture is everywhere to be seen. Each cottage and villa is individually designed and decorated. If you appreciate color, art and funkiness you will love Jake’s. It’s a totally unique property. If you’re looking for nightlife and lots of restaurants Treasure Beach is not for you. But if you want to chill, eat great food at either the restaurant at the hotel or at their sister restaurant, Jack Sprat’s you will not go hungry – the food is delicious, this is for you! Enjoy the fresh saltwater pool, have a drink at Dougie’s Bar, eat great jerk chicken and pork available from the proprietor of the convenience store up the street on Saturdays or watch an outdoor movie at Jack Sprat’s on Thursday night.

Also, they have a spa, yoga and you can take a cooking session. If you want to keep busy you can do that. Drivers are available if you don’t have a car and there are a lot of day trips. We stayed in Octopus 1 which was a spacious villa which opened onto a deck with the sea practically splashing on the deck. It also has a second level outdoor deck. How about an outdoor shower with a claw foot tub – loved it. Jake’s is class=”_3f5ztoLj”>eco friendly.

We stayed in ‘Coral’ and the hotel’s website pictures give a very accurate depiction. The room was cozy and intimate…we didn’t miss the TV at all. We absolutely loved the salt -water pool: all the therapeutic benefits and no sand, with a fantastic ocean view to top it off.
The hotel staff are friendly and very willing to meet any special requests.

Downsides: The restaurants can be pricey but there are options like Smurfs cafe nearby/within walking distance for breakfast or brunch. We felt very safe walking the property and even off property, in the Treasure Beach community. Also, this is a very eco-friendly boutique hotel, so if you’re squeamish about lizards and other ‘wildlife’, you may want to weigh more carefully whether you’re up to a visit here.

Jakes has managed to combine great service ( friendly efficient staff who are always present to assist but never intrusive ) and a rustic throw back of a Jamaica of long ago with a art deco twist. The food was remarkable, fresh farm to table produce cooked with love and wonderful to the palate. The property itself is breathtaking. We visited the world renown Jack Sprat restaurant located at the edge of the property and were not disappointed.

Our cottage a naturalist dream, eco friendly, comfortable, cozy, rustic with barn type doors that open to the waves off the Caribbean sea crashing against the shore. All the modern conveniences ( the wifi was a little spotty ). But what I loved was that there was no television.

Our stay was truly restful, peaceful, and enjoyable. The Henzel Family and their wonderful staff can be proud of this great product.

Jake’s is a low key Eco friendly resort in rural southern Jamaica. It is a collection of seaside cottages with very ordinary rooms (not even a dresser) that have extraordinary Ocean sounds and views. Jake’s is very modest, low key and understated but at times it can come close to the line of being shabby. (it never crosses that line though) If you are looking for a great yoga deck, and simple pleasures it’s for you but if you need amenities, night life, or a variety of restaurants you might consider somewhere else.

The resort is a collection of individually-designed little cottages furnished tastefully and creatively, in a well-landscaped area centered around the outdoor salt-water pool and the famous “Dougie’s Bar” (the absolute best rum punch you can get on the island). Friendly dogs roam freely around and come to be petted on to snooze at your feet. The restaurant has always been famous for the quality of its Jamaican-inspired cuisine, with outdoor seating in a shaded grove. Recently, Jake’s began offering yoga sessions in the morning, with pristine view of the Caribbean Sea. The owners of Jake’s have always been extremely active in the community and promote eco-friendly practices. And best of all, prices are very reasonable, so what’s not to like ?
