. Our room overlooking the marina was spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and spotless. Even with a wedding going on, staff was attentive to all visitors and we heard no noise in our room at all.
We enjoyed the heated outdoor saltwater pool, although it’s somewhat smaller than I expected for laps.
We also used the fitness room, which had a lot of treadmills, 2 bikes (1 reclining, which we both used and considered very comfortable) and 2 stair steppers (not ellipticals), as well as lots of machines. Each bike-treadmill-stepper had its own tv and I really appreciated that the woman in charge was able to lend me a pair of headphones, as I hadn’t thought to bring my own.
We didn’t end up using the bikes, but it’s a fine area to use them. The timing just didn’t work out.
Plenty to see in the area. Not too far from Mystic, beaches, other nice shore towns, shopping. But we were happy on Main Street in Old Saybrook, enjoyed a crafts fair, excellent dinner at Val’s Oyster House, frozen yogurt, and breakfast the next day at Mirsina’s.
My only quibble was that in the eco-conscious Inn that the water pressure is really low. Honestly I took off a star because it’s more expensive than I hoped. That’s subjective, of course and it’s high season, so that’s the way it goes.
This is a lovely location on the water. Our room had views of the docks and the Long Island sound, really pretty. They have a wonderful multi-level patio area with clever seating arrangements and lots of pyramid heaters. Even saw a few brave people swimming in the outdoor pool on that remarkably mild Thanksgiving weekend.
The staff were friendly and accommodating.
The location of the inn was perfect! The view of Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River was breathtaking. Our room was quite nice, spacious with water views. The staff was very accommodating and professional. The spa was lovely and I engaged in a very relaxing aromatherapy swedish massage. Completely decadent!
The town was quaint, and we took advantage of the nearby venue, “The Kate” (named for Katharine Hepburn and contains lots of her memorabilia). We visited the town of Essex and took a foliage ride along the Connecticut River on the Essex Steam Train- a very nice take.
We plan on visiting Old Saybrook again in the not so distant future, and will be sure to make the Saybrook Point Inn and Spa our venue of choice.

Our experience was incredible. We stayed in the main inn – full of history and character. The most comfortable beds (seriously, we travel a lot, best ever), great toiletries, amazing staff (friendly, courteous, fun), beautiful grounds. Indoor pool was fantastic with well-stocked changing rooms and a great adjoining fitness center. We had dinner at their restaurant our first night – excellent food, well presented, great service. Breakfast is included and cooked to order – very, very good.
My favorite was the jacuzzi tub and fire place of course since it got chilly at night. The fireplace was perfect place sit and relax from the world. We can not wait to go back again. Love it! We wish we didn’t have to leave. Our stay included breakfast with reservations at check in. It was delicious and every staff we meet was friendly and nice. Very easy to find and get around. We did lots of exploring as well. Our first time to the White Mountains was amazing and beautiful 10+. We will be back soon.
ocking in the beautiful rockers, basking in the March sunshine, and breathing in the nice fresh air. The cottage was very spacious, and clean. We own Timeshares and have traveled all over staying in Condos, and the couch in the living room here was more comfortable than any of the couches in our recent stays. The bed was extremely comfy, and the linens were crisp and clean. Dinner was excellent, and our server Josh, was just delightful and kept checking in on us all throughout our meal. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful. I had eggs benedict, and my hubby had some excellent old fashioned oatmeal, with brown sugar and raisins.
There was a side table where you could help yourself to cereals, yogurt, granola, homemade muffins, homemade pumpkin bread, and fresh fruit. Breakfast was included with the room charge and was a very pleasant experience.
Decor retains the antique feel of the building while offering a wall mounted flat screen TV, plenty of outlets for charging electronics, and a relatively modern and nice sized bathroom. Despite being located at the top of the stairs, the room was quiet, it also offers lots of natural light. Bed and pillows weren’t the most comfortable but we’ve certainly experienced worse.
A delicious breakfast was included with the stay offering several menu choices (had an omelet both mornings) promptly served by a pleasant and helpful staff (don’t forget to leave a tip). We’ve stayed here several times in the past and are definitely glad we made another return trip.
