Orchard Hotel is in a perfect location for the major sights, just up from Union Square, and with a Cable Car stop nearby for great ride to Fisherman’s Wharf.
The hotel is nicely decorated, rooms are large, very clean and staff are friendly and helpful. The eco focus is really good to see, with fresh filtered water available.
Large silent clean room and large bathroom. Location the best. Tram and busses nearby take you everywhere. The eco friendly hotel pleased as well. Beautiful stylish hotel and restaurant. Good wifi Friendly and helpful staff. Five star hotel.
Could not have been happier with our suite – roomy, views, quiet, huge bathroom, loads of character and elegantly furnished with beautiful touches – chandeliers, tasteful art, and turndown service. Cleanliness was faultless, 5 stars. Staff made us feel very welcome and were so helpful. Courtesy service to nearby downtown area provided on first-in basis in a Tesla was an extra bonus which we really appreciated – thanks to Angelo.
This is a classy eco-friendly hotel we would happily rate as 5 star. It felt like a home away from home from the minute we arrived.
The location is great (close to Union Square and not up too many steep hills), the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are spacious and well equipped (Nespresso machine is a really nice addition). The eco friendly aspects are nice too, there’s no bottled water (water is available from refill stations), toiletries are large bottles rather than single use disposables.
The hotel was eco-friendly, which I really appreciated. The front desk staff were always very nice and greeted me each morning and evening. The room was spacious and clean and had everything I needed. There was a small fitness room with some cardio equipment and weights, but it was adequate for a quick workout. The location was good – a short walk to Union Square and Chinatown. I would stay here again.
The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from most attractions and shopping, our room was quiet and spacious, including a spacious bathroom. Breakfast is included and not just a continental breakfast, you can choose from anything on the menu. Staff were always friendly and helpful. I also loved how eco-friendly this hotel was – refillable shampoo etc, minimal plastic, and other environmentally friendly features.
The location of this hotel is perfect. Cable Cars are outside the hotel door, and many MUNI buses are 2-3 blocks away, so its perfect if you’re using public transit like we did, rather than renting a car. The staff is amazing, caring, and really try to make your stay as welcoming as possible. All of the doorman, Nathan, Mitzu and Marie are great, knowledgeable and helpful in all aspects.
The room was always clean, and the staff left chocolates on the nightstand every day that we came back. The bathrooms are VERY large for a city hotel. There’s a minibar in the room. We didn’t touch anything because we bought stuff at Walgreens down the block to save some money.
They also practice eco-friendly facilities management, like quick shut-off shower heads to conserve water in the drought.

hotel is historically set in a former timber and brick warehouse across from the waterfront. With its exceptional service, its charming style and the adjacent family-friendly Blue Mermaid restaurant, the Argonaut Hotel is an ideal spot to enjoy San Francisco.”,”viewport”:”DESKTOP”}]}”>
The room was spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds, bathroom was adequate – I didn’t like the toiletries in pump dispensers on the wall – I appreciate it’s probably an eco-friendly thing but somehow seems a bit cheap in an otherwise classy hotel.
The hotel is in a great location- right on Fisherman’s Wharf but tucked away on the quieter, less touristy end near Ghiradelli Square. Walking distance to anything you should need. Definitely take advantage of the valet parking, as they park your car in a secure facility.
We booked this hotel because of its location in Fisherman’s Wharf but were still surprised just how well located it was: on the nice left hand side of the wharf; literally next door to the Hyde/Powell Cable Car Turnaround; next door (3 mins) to the Ghirardelli Square; within steps of so many places to eat and drink including Ghirardelli, Buena Vista Cafe, Pub BBQ etc; within steps of a lovely walk across the front to a pier and Fort Mason with grounds; within 15 mins walk to Lombard Street; 7 mins walk to Pier 39; 5 mins walk to Pier 41 for ferry’s to Sausalito and Angel Island, and Boudins; 30 mins walk to the Ferry Building ; and with constant views of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge.
The whole wharf area suffers a bit from homeless people, like the rest of the City, but it always busy and felt safe around the hotel and surrounding restaurants and bars, which was comforting.
The hotel itself was lovely; a small boutique with a nice foyer area and good restaurant attached (Blue Mermaid), with excellent service from all staff. We expected some noise from the street (it’s location is so good we thought it must suffer from street noise) but heard nothing and slept peacefully in comfortable beds in perfect quiet (we did chose an inward facing room to ensure peace).
We were very pleased to have chosen this hotel for our week in San Francisco as it offered us everything we could have needed.

Nice sized room with a great work-table and plenty of outlets for the business traveler but with a great vibe. Virtual reality experiences are available in the lobby as part of your daily amenities fee, as are two pool tables, a table shuffleboard and a 2 story pachinko-like game you play with a soccer ball. The lobby bar had an inviting feel and the prevalence of repurposed items, such as the lobby chandeliers made out of old wire-framed eyeglasses made it extra fun and appearing eco-friendly. Good location for shopping, dining and sightseeing.
Beds were comfortable, superb amenities, large modern bathroom, a bunch of plugs located bedside, even a USB charging station. Noticed that the luxurious toiletries such as the shower gels, lotions and shampoos were giant 300ml sized bottles – good thing I didn’t take them upon check out because one of the bottles notified that it would cost $35! 😁 that’s half thumbs down but I’d give 4 thumbs up for the eco reasons!!
The front desk staff was amazingly helpful and friendly, so were the bell desk staff. Thanks for recommending the Blue Bottle cafe across the street!
Lobby of the hotel is nicely decorated and cozy, I could stay there forever and invite my friends over to hang if only I had more time.
Location was very strategic. I could shop around Market st and come back to hotel to drop off the bags before I continue to other shops.
The room was beautifully designed and NOT a shoebox. This is unusual for “boutique hotels. Stunning art on wall. Large flat screen TVS. Desk. Plenty of plugs. Annoying expensive water, snacks and mini bar present. There is a complementary espresso maker…which I found impossible to operate. It also does not make coffee…just espresso. The hotel is eco friendly and this is noted by recycling bins and two button flush toilet. Also..no little containers of toiletries …but big containers to tap from.
Location of this hotel is very convenient as it is off of the Powell stop. Check in was easy, it was the typical check in service you get where they explain the room and amenities. The room was very clean. After we took our shoes off, the floor felt super clean. I was amazed at that. The bed was comfortable but when you stepped in certain places, you could hear the spring which was the only con of the bed.
After exploring the city, it was great to come back to this hotel because it felt clean and looks modern. You were able to get water or lemonade out in the lobby.
We enjoyed playing the games on the 2nd floor especially the pinball machines. There were plenty of seats to relax in or even take a meal back!
If I were to stay in downtown SF again, I would definitely consider Hotel Zetta again because of it’s location and cost.

Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, where personalized service meets cutting-edge style. Our hotel is set in the heart of the city, just steps from Union Square shops and restaurants, making it the ideal destination for both business and leisure travel. Our four-diamond rated property features 532 guest rooms and 22 suites, each with pillow-top beds, high-speed internet, and a wealth of modern amenities.
A bit of Japanese service feeling permeates.Semi elegant lobby with plenty of seating. The hotel rooms on the 19th floor were not quite unlike their competitors, a little impersonally furnished but with most comforts that wish for an overnight stay.
The location in San Francisco is central and the hotel can hardly be blamed for a situation with homeless, drug addicts in nearby neighborhoods. However, you feel a little uncomfortable during your walks, especially at night.
I know a lot of people like the Fairmont, but Hotel Nikko’s Japanese influence makes it a modern/sophisticated stay while in the city. Its location is central to Union Sq and Market St, not far from the Embarcadero and ferry building. The rooms are clean with your basic but nice amenities. The hotel renovated a while back and our most recent stay reflected that. One of the things we like most about this hotel is the breakfast buffet as they offer both American and Japanese breakfast options. We loooove Japanese breakfast so it’s always a nice touch when we visit. Definitely recommend this hotel.

he first thing that stuck out to me about this place was the exceptional service. Every door was opened for us, and we were always greeted with a smile regardless of where we were within the hotel. The wait staff, servers and doormen were all very polite.
We stayed in one of the Imperial rooms which gave us free access to the club/lounge with food and drinks, and breakfast was also included every morning. The room itself was a good size and the view of the city was nice. The bathroom was spacious as well. The shower is bit smaller than I’d like for 2 people, but we made it work, and some of the water can leak outside if you’re not careful.
Location-wise, this is a good spot if you want to be close to the major tourist attractions, but traffic is an issue, and being so close to the Tenderloin wasn’t ideal. If you want to get your car out of the underground driveway, I would request it about 20-30 minutes before you need it, because space is limited and your car can get buried in the garage depending on how busy things are in the city.
