Guide to Eco Hotels in Siem Reap ( 2024 Updated)

An eco hotel, or a green hotel, is an environmentally sustainable hotel or accommodation that has made important environmental improvements to its structure in order to minimize its impact on the natural environment and eco friendly hotels Siem Reap are considered excellent place to hang out for a couple of nights in Siem Reap and then beyond in Cambodia.

The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) defines eco-tourism as responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people. One thing you will notice in Cambodia is that respect for locales is low. Rubbish and plastic bags are simply thrown out onto the street. Heavily polluting vehicles often create a thick haze over towns and cities.

Had a lovely stay at Eco Villa. We picked a place a little outside of the hustle and bustle of the center, but still close enough to go out for a night. The rooms were spacious and clean, the beds were super comfy and the food was amazing, but the one thing that really makes this place stand out is the staff.

This place is spotless, very clean and quiet. The swimming pool is a good size and refreshing. Breakfast is very tasty with many options. Staff treat you like a king and Queen. Our room and shower was huge with balcony. The shower is very modern and lots of room ( separate shower and tub). This small hotel is one of the best hotel we ever stayed at. Siem reap is very hot and humid but the air conditioner was working very good and we did not feel the heat inside our room.

I really recommend this amazing hotel Eco villa, enjoy the pool, breakfast, and all their amenities including fresh banana from their own banana tree!

We had a lovely large room with a balcony looking out over the pool. We enjoyed our stay here, but it didn’t seem to have any other guests. Siem Reap needs more independent travellers staying at locally run accommodation like this (as opposed to large Chinese owned hotels).

Neaus is the local tuk tuk driver used by the Villa, and he’s very good so you don’t need to worry about transport to and from pub street or any of the other areas.

The food at the Eco Villa was very good and the staff went out of their way to help. It’s good value for money.

Eco Villa is a little peaceful hotel in the busy and touristic city of Siem Reap. A tuk-tuk driver was waiting for me at the airport and brought me to the Eco Villa free of charge (about 10-15 min drive).

My bedroom was compounded by a huge space with an enormous comfy bed, a super nice bathroom (shower + bathtub), terrace and a beautiful chill out area by the window with swimming pool views.

Eco villa is the best!

The hotel is small and a safe sanctuary from the city vibes. The garden and pool are beautiful. The garden has pet bunnies that live in a special fenced the off area. The staff are wonderful and friendly and very helpful. The tuk tuk driver was amazing, kind and patient with us wherever we wanted to go. The room was huge with the best shower ever which drained into pebbles. The bed was also huge and really comfortable Totally worth the extra distance from town to have a bit of lush tranquility.

3. Shinta Mani Angkor 5* – Eco Friendly Hotels Siem Reap Cambodia

Shinta Mani Angkor
Shinta Mani Angkor

Guests at Shinta Mani Angkor enjoy lovely Khmer-inspired rooms while channelling funds to the local community. Designed by architect Bill Bensley, the boutique hotel is part of a community program that lets guests meet locals from rural Cambodia and help support the Shinta Mani Foundation. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property.

Shinta Mani Angkor is a 5-minute walk from the Old Market and Pub Street. It is a 10-minute drive from Siem Reap Airport and the Angkor Wat temple complex.

The rooms offer modern designs, city or pool views and each has a flat-screen cable TV. A safety deposit box and tea/coffee making facilities are also provided. The private bathroom offers toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers.

Surrounded by palm trees in the French Quarter of Siem Reap, this upscale hotel is a 12-minute walk from Angkor National Museum and 8 km from the iconic Angkor Wat temple.

Sleek rooms with chic decor include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, as well as iPod docks. They also offer minibars, as well as tea and coffeemakers; some add dining areas.

There are 2 restaurants, as well as a sophisticated bar and an outdoor pool with a bar. A lavish spa provides outdoor massages, and cooking classes are also available.

Shinta Mani Angkor is an upscale boutique property in the French Quarter of Siem Reap town. It boasts 39 contemporary designed rooms and public spaces in a European style with Khmer inspiration.
This exceptional hotel enjoys a tranquil and leafy setting just a 15 minute tuktuk ride from the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat. Shinta Mani Angkor, with a culture of Open Doors, Open Hearts, reflects its commitment to responsible tourism. The staff hope that during your visit you will open your heart to the beauty of the Kingdom of Cambodia, its gentle people and its fascinating culture.
The rooms are spacious and attractive, but be aware there are no lifts, so accessing the upstairs bar, library, spa and rooms may prove more difficult for some. As an eco friendly hotel many areas are also not air conditioned, which I prefer, but fans are provided which help to manage the heat at warmer times of the day and make it much easier to get acclimated to the weather.
The main pool is located in a quadrangle of surrounding rooms across the road which splits the site, but there is a lap pool just off the lobby if you are there to swim rather than sunbathe.

The hotel itself was tastefully decorated with excellent attention to detail: in addition to the usual facilities for its class, the room came with a separate dressing area, complementary fruit & fridge contents, and a mobile wifi hotspot.

There is an eco-friendly water cooler in reception so you can refill your water bottles. They served us takeaway tea, coffee & a selection of freshly baked cupcakes at 4am ahead of a sunrise trip to Angkor Wat.

Shinta Mani Angkor is perfectly located if you plan to visit the famous Angkor Wat Temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The temples are just a short tuk-tuk drive away.

I had the pleasure to stay in a beautiful Deluxe Poolview Room on the upper floor. The room was spacious with a large king-size bed, working area, separate closet, terrazzo bathroom with rain shower and balcony overlooking the pool and the garden area. The room was incredible and wonderfully designed! Interior was chic in black and white, with handcrafted lamps and lovely decorations and one of the best things was the ceiling with an image of the temple. Amazing!

Shinta Mani has one main restaurant called Kroya which means “food” in the Khmer Royal language. The restaurant’s menu blends international as well as local products, fresh ingredients, native herbs, and spices. The food is delicious.

The room was clean and spacious with many amenities including a complimentary mini bar during my stay.

However the one thing that was a standout for me was the service. From the moment i was picked up by the arranged transfer service to the tours organized.

The staff are so polite and accommodating. And Friendly!! Shout out to Jerry, Chanra, Leav and Lida in the Spa and the many others who made my stay so great. These people provided great great service to me. The front of house manager, Sophear Mot was so accommodating to me as I had flight to Ho Chi Minh.

The architect’s attention to every detail was very evident in creating a lovely experience. The service was excellent and the entire staff was so kind. We stayed in a deluxe garden view room. Our front door walked right out to the serene pool. Perfect! The spa is fabulous, too. We ate in the restaurant on site and the food was really delicious and beautifully presented.
