Belgium has frequently been referred to as one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world and no wander can find a few gay friendly hotels Antwerp.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in Belgium are seen as some of the most progressive in Europe and in the world. Same-sex sexual activity was legalised in 1795, with an equal age of consent, except from 1965 until 1985. After granting same-sex couples domestic partnership benefits in 2000, Belgium became the second country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage in 2003. Same-sex adoption was fully legalised in 2006 under the same terms and conditions as heterosexual adoption, and lesbian couples can access IVF as well.
Antwerp is a port city on Belgium’s River Scheldt, with history dating to the Middle Ages. In its center, the centuries-old Diamond District houses thousands of diamond traders, cutters and polishers. Antwerp’s Flemish Renaissance architecture is typified by the Grote Markt, a central square in the old town. At the 17th-century Rubens House, period rooms display works by the Flemish Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens.

Just came back from a weekend Antwerp, and we stayed at this hotel. We absolutely loved it. Nice modern room, friendly staff, and perfect location! As a gay couple we also felt very welcome! This was our first time Antwerp, and the staff gave us some good tips to shop, and have dinner. We asked for a late check-out on sunday, and that also was no problem.
The location is good. The hotel is very basic with normal beds, not so comfortable pillows but overall I slept well. The shower room is large and provide space. Overall, I think it is good hotel for the cost of it.
Excellent location. Really close to everywhere and a good base. Excellent breakfast and really nice and helpful staff.
Everything in the room is clean and neat. The bathroom was clean and the shower hot, good amount of water! The bed was great and I slept well those two nights. We had no view out our window because we were at the backside. Plus was that we had no noise from the street. It is directly next to the train station, if you don’t use the train to get there.
The hotel De Keyser is great.. just a stone throw away from central station with the shopping district, China town, old town cathedral, zoo all at walking distance with hustle bustle all around for it to be safe. One day is more than enough for tourist and of course if you want to woo a woman with Solitaire shopping.
Stay was great with no view which is ok, friendly and welcoming reception staff and breakfast which is better than most other European hotels, one thing is that everything practically shuts down especially the old town and shopping by 5pm evening,
So start early to explore…central station is open though for dinner restaurants. Great town with great history and an important business district of Europe and worth a visit as this is normally not a part of regular travel touristy places when you book through tours and travels.
The hotel is centrally located easy access to station and lots of restaurants and bars. It has a bar of it own, breakfast is good. The hotel is comfortable, clean, quiet and has the facilities expected at this level, good value for money.
The Good:
– Excellent location as it’s right in front of the most beautiful train station in the world and all the shops and shopping districts are right there in the center of town
– Good Breakfast
– Excellent staff and my check-in and check-out were very smooth
The Not So Good:
– The view from the room was the central landing, which was nothing much. Make sure you have a better view.
The location is convenient as metro station was juz next to it and lot of restaurants were in walking distance. There were no toothpaste toothbrushes slippers which u will need to bring it by yourself. The room was okay but kind of dark for me. Reception service was good as they could answer us all of the questions. The breakfast was good which was our expectation.

The room was fine, bathroom definitely needs renovation: big crack in the sink and one of those shower-in-bath constructions that never really satisfies. Good bed. My room looked towards a street with a sex shop and gay bar, but it was quiet and I slept well even with the window open.
Had dinner, breakfast and lunch here. All good quality and tasteful meals. Plenty of choice at breakfast. It’s a hotel so some of the food is a bit boring/standard. Friendly service from the hotel-college youths.
It is quite a walk into the old center of town and the immediat
This hotel is about 200m away from the Central Station of Antwerp where you could com from Brussels airport in 30 mins. You could easily reach all main sights of Antwerp by walk and there is also metro station almost under the hotel.
Hotel is very common 4 stars Radisson hotel. Breakfast was included in the price and was good enough.
My room was quite ok. Pillows were awful ones but otherwise everything else was oke area around the hotel is a bit sleazy.
The rooms are quite old and so are most of the things in the hotel. The breakfast was decent. The location is quite good facing the main square from the Antwerp train station.
Excellent location, very nice design, clean hotel, friendly staff. Just a couple of notes, like a hanger for the bathrobe in the bathroom, or a small shelf in the bathroom. Staff took a note of my comments. Also, I would suggest covers for the food in the breakfast room. Overall great experience. I would go again.
The Junior Suites on the high floors are bright, extremely large and cosy. The have a good king-size bed and the sofa is ok too. The bathroom comes with a tub and a separate shower and good water pressure. The breakfast is to recommend.
This hotel was beautiful inside and out. A stone’s throw away from central station and about a 20 minute walk to the Grote Markt while passing several shops along the way! Very easy walk. We stayed in the Junior Suite and it was perfect. Bed was comfortable and furnishings were nice. TV was huge and could be moved!
One of the best features was temperature control! I was worried we would not be able to turn on the Airco because it’s October but it was still fairly warm outside. Thankfully we could which made the stay perfection. To top it off, the staff was extremely friendly and there is a full starbucks downstairs:) I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is well presented and the rooms comfortable and well appointed, although for some reason my minibar had been relocated to the wardrobe from the empty hole beneath the TV. I had been upgraded to a junior suite with a decorative round window at the far end of the room in the lounge area, which meant that much of the bedroom area was very dark and could have benefited from more lighting.
Breakfast was great, a very well appointed buffet with options to order specialities.

Hotel Indigo Antwerp – City Centre is located only 50 metres from Antwerp Central Station so you can easily reach the hotel by train. In front of the hotel there is a bus stop if you want to go further away from the city centre.
This boutique hotel is very pleasant and conveniently located close to the main railway station. Hotel design is very nice and in line with the Indigo standard. However, rooms are on the small side. Breakfast is nice, cosy and not too busy and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
This is a really nice hotel, it’s perfectly located very close to the main station and also close to all the restaurants and bars on the Keyserlei. The hotel restaurant is also very good for breakfast or dinner.
The rooms are very comfortable and slightly quirky so I would tend to say it’s well worth staying here simply because it’s a bit out of the ordinary and makes a change from the big chains. There was also a few interesting books in the room which I enjoyed reading I made a change from my iPad :-).
The hotel is superbly located across the square from Antwerp Central Station and very near both Antwerp Zoo and Chocolate Nation, the Antwerp Chocolate Experience. My 11 year-old loved it. The room was superb and we had the luxury of a balcony overlooking the Astridplein station square. Breakfast included the usual continental, plus a delicious hot option and great coffee.
Getting into the Old Town was really easy… we just jumped on Tram 11 and we were there in less than 10 minutes.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was tidy and comfortable (a bit too small in my opinion, but it was fine) and their toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner etc) were awesome.
It’s literary a minute walk from Antwerp’s central station, which is very convenient. Yet, it’s quiet, in case you wonder.
The breakfast is extra. We took it and didn’t regret for a second, it was absolutely great. Fresh fruits, a good selection of bread and rolls, cheese (meat as well, but I don’t eat these things so can’t comment) musli and so on. You can even make your own Belgian waffles! Awesome.
If you’re in town, Indigo is a fantastic choice.
Beautiful boutique hotel in central Antwerp, a few steps away from the main train station and about 15 minutes walk into the old town. I was really impressed with room: stylish, spacious and well-equipped (also loved the Nespresso machine)! Staff were friendly and helpful. My Only complaint was the bed was a little on the soft side. No issue with noise and secure parking just outside. Would absolutely stay again.
The ensuite is fitted with a wet room and a quality selection of Moooi toiletries. The bedroom is also provided with a Nespresso machine, safe and a fridge which contains complimentary bottled water which is supposed to be replenished daily. We also had a wide private balcony which had loungers and also a table and chairs enabling us to relax and enjoy the pleasant sunshine whilst watching the hustle and bustle of the square below.
There is a large flat screen wall mounted LG tv which does have a good selection of channels including BBC1, BBC2, BBC World, Channel 4 and More 4 which would be of interest to British visitors.
Breakfast is served in Queen A`s Kitchen from 6.30 — 1030am and until 11am at weekends and a wide selection of both hot and cold dishes available..
The Waffle machine is quite novel and extremely popular with guests.
Queen A`s Kitchen is open throughout the day for both snacks and meals and we enjoyed dinner there on each evening of our six night stay.
The hotel is just steps away from Central Station and also Antwerp Zoo both of which are situated in the square. Long distance coach services leave from in front of the hotel together with the Shuttle bus service to and from Brussels Airport which is extremely convenient for anyone needing to travel on this transport.
The main shopping district along the Meir is just a few minutes walk away whilst Rubenshuis is around a fifteen minute walk. The Diamond district is also very close by. The MAS Museum will take around 30 minutes to reach on foot but well worth the effort with several floors of exhibits and a restaurant and at the top wonderful 360 degree views of the city and harbour.
Guests wishing to eat out in the evening will be spoiled for choice since there are multiple choices of restaurants in the area and no doubt recommendations will be given by the hotel reception.
We did visit Antwerp Zoo across the square from the hotel which is a great way to enjoy several hours discovering the many fascinating parts of the zoo.
The ticket price is 26.50 euro and 25.50 euro for over 60`s which may appear expensive but it is well worth the price.
75% of the world’s diamonds pass through Antwerp so a visit to the Diamond district is well worth the experience if only to window shop and again just a short distance on foot from the hotel. A City Map supplied by the hotel reception on arrival together with the many signs around the city will guide you to most places of interest.
There is a City Bus tour which also leaves from outside the hotel entrance which is a good introduction to the city for first time leisure visitors.
Overall we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Indigo and only the lack of drawer space would be a negative when it comes to anyone staying for a number of days.
We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Antwerp for either business or leisure.
