The hotel itself is within easy walking distance of the historical downtown area of Catania including the outdoor market. Also it is only 5 minute walk to the train station/bus terminal so it would be a great place to say as a hub to explore the east side of the island.
The room was two stories with a little desk and closet area downstairs and the bedroom and bath upstairs. The room was comfortable and the shower was fantastic – it had two massaging shower streams perfectly placed to target my lower back in addition to the traditional shower head. The facilities included a nice sitting area outside. Breakfast is served buffet style in a separate building.
A lovely modern hotel, very clean, friendly staff, great breakfast, good position for the train station and access to the city, the rooms are a good size as are the bathrooms, regular clean linen. there is also an area in which to relax with a drink after a long day.
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms (bed and bathroom are in an upper loft area) are spacious, good air conditioning (and water pressure). The outdoor courtyard/bar is a great place to relax (especially at night under the stars) and breakfast was generous (and included). Great price. The area can be a little sketchy if you turn left instead of right (when leaving) but close to the historic center, the train station and other key sites.

Location was central, close to all major attractions, lots of restaurants in close proximity. Hotel reception were excellent and very efficient, we arrived earlier than their check-in time but they managed to get us a room early. Very good with advice and organising transport. Room was a corner room on 2nd floor, good amenities, good storage space. Had a walk-in cupboard but they only gave you 4 jacket hangers and 4 skirt hangers.
In particular, the continental buffet breakfast offers local pastries such as chocolate, marmalade, cream cornets, ravioli with fresh ricotta filling, different cakes, yogurts, flakes, syrup and fresh fruit, assorted nuts, butter, jam, tea, milk, American coffee, espresso and milk, ham, bacon and other cold meats, tomatoes, bread, boiled and scrambled eggs, local cheese such the smoked caciotta, mozzarella and the possibility to make on your own fresh Sicilian orange juice and even gluten-free products on demand.

The bed was extremely comfortable and the room itself was kept very clean with fresh bedding and towels provided daily and the tea, coffee, toiletries and minibar replenished each time!
We had breakfast in the rooftop restaurant, which was either continental style or you could order hot food, (we had both!) the views of Etna were stunning!
The executive room was large, comfortable and the hotel is in a great location, where you would want to be based when staying in Catania.
It is a large hotel and you can tell the difference in quality of staff versus smaller boutique hotels of a similar grade. The service wasn’t very efficient, especially on the roof restaurant. We had complimentary roof breakfasts as we were in an executive room.
The room with a view did not disappoint. We had clear days and wonderful views of the steaming Mt.Etna. The minibar was not as fully stacked as I would have liked but it had enough items to get us through. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was truly grand with full views of the volcano. Waiter service was a bit slow but the selections for breakfast was very good.

Excellent location but be careful at night. Walking distance to many restaurants, markets, and cafes and almost right in front of the duomo. The rooms were unique and decorated nicely with plenty of room. Staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Street parking was convenient right outside the hotel. The rooftop terrace was beautiful with amazing views of the duomo.
The location is excellent, just a few steps from the Duomo Square, it is right beside the fish market and one of the main shopping streets.
We found the hotel to be very clean, the bed sheets were lovely and crisp. Great big comfortable bed.
The rooms are full of technology, lots of lightning in each room, they have USB charging slots at each bed side, Nespresso machine, sink, fridge etc.
The breakfast room is lovely but the offerings are quite poor for the price as the breakfast is very small and the breakfast kitchen is a tiny cupboard. That said, the chef is very polite and will make you a fresh omelette.
There is a Nespresso machine in the room but not genuine capsules. There is also a minibar fridge. Nice wet room bathroom and excellent wi-fi. There is a nice roof terrace to real in. Right next door is a little grocery store which is surprising cheap so you can stock up yourself. The hotel prides itself on its electronic gadgetry which posed some teething problems but the staff sorted these promptly and with a smile.
Lots of restaurants nearby including the fish market but best avoid these as its a bit of a tourist trap! Would strongly recommend the hotel overall.
The spa was lovely but would benefit from extra facilities such as sauna and hot tub. Overall an excellent place to stay in the the perfect location for visiting Catania.

Location- Great location. Not only is the place so easy to reach from the airport but Via Etnea is the main street of Catania. A beautiful street, on both sides full with old houses and little stores/shops that lead to the Duomo. That’s right, the hotel is 1.3 kilometers away from the Duomo and Piazza del Duomo. As a bonus right here you will see the Fontana Dell’ Elefante which you will surely enjoy. Also close to the hotel is the Giardino Bellini and Piazza Stesicoro so you can rest assured you are close to the action.
• Staff– Nothing but good words. I enjoyed my time spent at the hotel, they were very helpful with information and very polite and it was my pleasure at the end of the stay to leave a nice message in the hotel’s guest book.
• Room– Now, I don’t know if I was lucky but my room was big. Really big. And the bathroom was just as big. Very clean, daily service, from what I remember they kept leaving us 2 bottles of water each day, free of charge and I really think that was a nice gesture. The room had a small terrace where I enjoyed a glass of wine in the evenings or just stood there contemplating how quiet that part was in contrast to the crowds that filled Via Etnea
• Breakfast– Italian. Yes, I love this country, yes I love the people here but the breakfast…not so much. As usual, the selection was very limited to some cheeses, one or two types of salami and something sweet. While I don’t usually eat breakfast and don’t care much for it, many of the people I been with on my trips consider this an important aspect so that’s why I’m pointing to it.

The 4-star Grand Hotel Baia Verde is set on volcanic rocks overlooking a natural bay, on the road between Acicastello and Catania. It offers an and a free gym. The modern spa is complete with Thalassotherapy facilities.
Baia Verde is surrounded by a garden with palm and pine trees and a semi-Olympic pool. It has a sun terrace built into the rocks, which features a staircase leading down to the

of the Ionian Sea.The Oleandro Restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and traditional Sicilian and Mediterranean dishes at dinner. It has a wide selection of local wines and a sea-view terrace. The outdoor bar offers traditional Sicilian ice cream, snacks and drinks.
The Grand Hotel Baia Verde is a 4 star hotel in Catania facing the sea with 147 Rooms, Swimming Pool, Private Rocky Beach, Spa, Meeting Rooms, Restaurant,Roof Garden,Free Parking Area,American Bar and Scuba Diving School. The Hotel has 147 rooms different in typology (Classic & Superior Rooms, with sea view, Deluxe, Family room, Business Suite, Junior Suites and Suites) smart furnished all equipped with: air-conditioning TV LED HD 32”, Pay TV, SKY TV, frigobar, safe, telephone and Free Wi-FI.
Rooms were large and well appointed with lovely balcony and views out to sea. Good air conditioning and very clean. Beautiful big pool with plenty of sunbeds – never a problem to find one and no dawn-rush to put towels down. There’s also a fabulous terrace built into the cliffs to get down to the sea which was perfect. When you check in they give a towel token each which you exchange at the pool bar for your towel and get it back when you return the towel. When you check out if you give all the tokens back all well and good, if not they charge you for the towel which, IMO ,is a great system to stop people taking them as souvenirs.
Breakfast is in the terrace restaurant and is a self serve buffet with all kinds of fresh fruit, yogurts, cakes, cheese, bread, ham, pastries, juices. A selection of different twinings teas but just filter coffee, no machine for espresso/latte/cappuccino etc. Hot food a tad disappointing, just boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and fatty bacon – emphasis on the fat.
Breakfast was very nice with standard European food such as cheeses, cakes, yogurts, fruit, croissants, cereals, some eggs, juices etc but if you got there after 9am it was crowded and quite warm and would benefit from air conditioning in that room. One day we got there at about 8am and it was much more enjoyable.
Near the hotel is the restaurant Mare which is fantastic and not that expensive. I did not find it snobbish in any way, as some have said, and we went there three times in all. We also went to a trattoria a few doors down for pizza which was also nice. There is not much else around the hotel within walking distance and i would recommend hiring a car. It is a 10 minute drive to Aci Trezza, 25 minutes from Catania, 1 hour from Taormina and also 1 hour from Siracusa. Etna is also about a 50 minute drive away.
Turning right out of the hotel takes you too a few more restaurants, bank and bars not too far away. Turning left takes you to a pharmacy and supermarket (about 20 mins walk). There is bus stops just outside the hotel but there isn’t a lot to do within walking distance.
Pros:
– Incredibly spacious accessible room and bathroom
– Fantastic breakfast with outdoor seating that can’t be beat
– Most convenient and spacious parking lot for those who bring a rental car like us
– Wonderful pool & lounge area on the rocks (the lower lido area was closed after Oct 15th but we were still able to get access to the ocean over the rocks on the other side of the hotel at the surf school and were able to swim in the ocean AND the pool – while most other hotels had closed their pools already)
– Very clean
– Many elevators spread out through the expansive building
– Amazing views
– Wonderful service all around, from housekeeping to front desk to breakfast staff to the bar staff who would also service the outdoor & pool area during off season.
How much does a room costs at Grand Hotel Baia Verde Catania?
Prices start 90$/night for Classic Double Room with Sea View. The Superior Double Room with Sea View is 170$/room per night with breakfast included – if coming on a honeymoon this is the perfect choice for gay couples.
