1. Palm Heights 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Cayman Islands

Palm Heights
Palm Heights

Palm Heights has a restaurant, free bikes, a fitness centre and bar in George Town. The accommodation offers a private beach area and water sports facilities, as well as a garden and a terrace. The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, indoor pool, evening entertainment and a 24-hour front desk.

At the hotel the rooms have air conditioning, a seating area, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a kitchenette, a dining area and a private bathroom with a hairdryer, a shower and free toiletries. All rooms will provide guests with a desk and a coffee machine.

Palm Heights offers a continental or buffet breakfast.

A revel of the glory days of Caribbean understated glamour, Palm Heights is a generational reboot celebrating regional culture, cuisine, wellness, thinking and design. Nestled on Seven Mile Beach, one of the Caribbean’s most coveted stretches of white sand, at Palm Heights, guests can enjoy restaurants, stylish design, and breathtaking ocean views from every suite.

If you are looking for a refined, yet relaxed boutique hotel Palm Heights is a great choice . The attention to detail and service were fantastic . The hotel property is large enough to offer all of the luxuries you expect yet small enough for you to receive personal attention. Mykel was a great host and Nikki took great care to ensure we had a wonderful candle lit dinner on the beach. We have been to many beaches around the world and this one is at the top of the list. Palm Heights is perfectly situated on the most pristine part of Seven Mile Beach.

Unlike the mega hotels, Palm Heights offers their guests plenty of space on the beach as well as personal Yeti coolers and attendants to ensure you have all you need. If you get tired of the beach (unlikely), the hotel grounds and pools are peaceful retreats.

Every aspect of our trip was above our expectation. We were greeted at reception with a cocktail choice. Our room was recently redecorated. Their gym is fully equipped and new. The attendants at the beach brought refreshing towels, fresh fruit, or a complimentary frozen drink. The beach set up is complete with yeti cooler which is stocked with purified water on ice.

The beach is not crowded, had complimentary water sport amenities, along with food and beverage service from Tillies which is a wonderful restaurant. We ate most of our meals at Tillies. The menu is unique, and the food quality is fresh with in house made sauces, cheeses, and desserts. No industry food. Palm Heights is the place to stay if you are interested in a boutique hotel on the water rather than a huge, overcrowded hotel.

This is a boutique hotel on the best stretch of 7 mile beach. The rooms are all suites, recently renovated and very spacious. The pool area and the tropical gardens are extremely well done. The beach area is lovely, and not crowded. Walk down to the Ritz and the Westin, where there are a dozen plus rows of beach chairs crowded together like sardines.

The restaurant Tillie’s is excellent…great food and located directly on the beach with beautiful tropical plantings. Breakfast in particular is so relaxing there with their tropical fruit salad and freshly-baked croissants.

But best of all at Palm Heights was the staff. Every single staff member we encountered was polite, professional and genuinely friendly.

The hotel is beautiful, modern, and clean. From the moment we were greeted getting out of the taxi and escorted into the front desk we were treated with so much personal attention. We loved all of the front desk staff. They greeted us by name and asked us about our day, where we were going, and if we needed anything every time the saw us. They brought us anything we needed no matter what time it was. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated. We loved the comfortable bed and the nice tv in our bedroom with Netflix and Apple TV.

Our room was immaculate and the cleaning staff did a great job cleaning up our room daily, and they did a nightly turn down service. They even brought homemade sugar scrubs to our room with a handwritten note so we could use it after being out in the sun all day.

The beach at Palm Heights is gorgeous! The water is crystal clear blue and the white powder sand is so soft. There were cabanas set up every morning for all of the guests and a server brought you towels, water, and anything you wanted to eat or drink. They even pack a cooler and bring it to you with refreshments and ice in it.

The beach servers were incredibly nice and did a great job. Both pools were very quiet and large. The pool area was expansive and beautiful. It felt like we were the only ones there. The hot tub is nice too.Tillies is the restaurant and bar on the property.

Rooms – We have previously booked an Oceanview 1 BR suite which had a nice door from the king BR into the LR with a pullout.

It was a beautiful room perfect for 2. Each room has a nice kitchen area with coffee maker and bar, or you can get coffee in the lobby every morning. The balcony was had a great view of the resort pool and ocean. Rooms are well stocked with water and towels and the cleaning service was excellent. We have traveled many times and often you wait for any extra items you may need. Response time for hangers or extra towels or room service was very fast. Cleaning service was done right away every day. Hotel is modern and clean and new making it comfortable to sleep.

The property. Great gym with a view out front. The restaurants for dinner are all excellent and healthy. The hotel bar is also open and beautiful with great drinks. I would definitely recommend eating on the property. Breakfast buffet is significant and excellent – definitely worth eating there every day. The Cocoloba restaurant is by the beach and you can either order in the restaurant or at your beach chair. The service on the beach is also very fast and every staff member is so friendly and accommodating. The beach view is great and expansive, no fighting for chairs. Would also recommend the beach exercise activities – very nice they offer that. The spa is also very nice – highly recommend booking a spa service. I would also add everything is very convenient. It is a nice size property and bathrooms are located in easy locations. It is overall a great layout.

All IHG Properties could take lessons from the Seafire. From the moment we pulled up to valet, which is free and included in your resort fees, we were welcomed with smiles and service. Our room wasn’t quite ready when we got there at 3PM, which was fine as Spire We were upgraded to an ocean view king suite which was very much appreciated.

We were able to change our clothes and head down to the beach until the room was ready. We eat lunch at Coccolobas which as awesome food and service.

Once we were able to go to our room we were just blown away. It was everything we had hoped for. Awesome layout, awesome view. We love sitting out on the balcony and just watching over the resort. The bed was comfortable and the room was impeccable. There are light features that I tried to figure out. The closet with a safe and slippers and bathrobe. Do you want amenity I probably could’ve done without was the scale, I knew I would be gaining weight on this trip.

The pool is beautiful And we didn’t find out to her last night that is actually open till 9PM, I am not sure why it seems to shut down at six everybody gets out and no one enjoys it for the rest of the evening, you just get towels from the Concierge wants the pool supply is not there. The pool bar does close at six, which I think it could stay open a little bit longer. We did not get any drinks at that bar.

The beach is amazing and there was always a place for people to sit you did not have to get up early in the morning to save a spot. If you wanted the front row then maybe yes we did get up and go out at 7:15 and I got one of the few that were left in the front row. They have awesome covers for the beach chairs that are like towels that go over the back so you don’t need clips and they won’t blow away.

Kimpton Seafire exceeded our expectations in every way. The service of every staff member, without exception, was above and beyond. Needs were anticipated and wants were addressed immediately. Food was good at every restaurant, including pool service. There were so many nice “extra” surprises, from check-in to check out. Pool was beautiful, with sun shelf, area for kids and infinity edge. Highly recommend the oceanfront rooms.

The oceanview room had a nice view of the ocean, but also a good view of a parking lot and an empty field. There are roosters that roam the island and serenade you – I think they might be a bit harder to hear from the oceanfront rooms.

We offer our guests high end accommodations, excellent guest services, plus enjoy a host of amenities at our neighboring sister property on Seven Mile Beach. Whether your visit is for business or pleasure, a warm and friendly team awaits you!

I’ve stayed at some nice hotels, but not all have had such nice beaches. You will not actually be on the beach at this hotel. However, if you walk across the street to the Westin, you will be greeted by one of the most spectacular beaches in Cayman. The water is crystal clear and the sand is white. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas to use. If you’re into snorkeling and you go out a ways, you will see some interesting animal life. We saw plenty of angel fish, some stingrays, and even a sea turtle! You can also access the bar and restaurant at the Westin and charge it to your room at Sunshine Suites.

The one big advantage of staying at Sunshine Suites is how much money is saved. Breakfast is free and meals can be cooked on the stove. The grocery store, frozen yogurt shop, liquor store and some other shops are within walking distance of the hotel.

The service at the Sunshine Grill was excellent and the food was good too. The hotel staff was friendly and our kids enjoyed the chickens that ran around the property. Overall, it was a quiet hotel.

Nice little boutique hotel a block off the beach with full privileges at the Westin Resort.

A small on premises restaurant with great burgers, fish tacos, and breakfast offerings, the service is hit or miss as some servers seemed to be on Island Time even on the clock. A little pool to cool your feet in at the hotel and a shuttle to take you the entire 1 block walk to the Westin for a Premium Expanse of Seven Mile Beach and one of the best pools on the island.

ROOM:
We had a studio king room which was very clean. The room had a full size refrigerator with microwave, stove top, toaster, coffee maker, and plates and utensils. Our bed was made every day and we were also given fresh towels. The only thing I did not like about the room is that there was no in room safe.

GROUNDS:
The grounds of sunshine suites was kept very nice. They have a pool with lounge chairs and tables. They also have chairs scattered throughout the resort. Parking was free. There was no elevator to get to the second floor rooms.

SISTER PROPERTY (WESTIN):
The use of this property was an AMAZING PERK! it was located directly across the street and was about a 5 minute walk. At the Westin you are able to use everything as if it was your own hotel. You can even charge food and drinks to your room at sunshine. The Westin has a pool with swim up bar and two hot tubs. The Westin has activities every night. One night they had trivia and a dj. Another night they had a movie and popcorn on the beach. Another night they had a bonfire with s’mores.

FOOD:
The tacos at sunshine grill were AMAZING. They provide breakfast included with your stay which isn’t at the grill but a small building next.

To it. They had fresh fruit, pancakes, hard boiled eggs, toast, beef patties, hot and cold cereal. At the Westin they have happy hour, half off mixed drinks and buy one get one free beer from 5-7pm. I only ate appetizers at the Westin which were anywhere from $10-$15 CI. There are a few places to eat on your walk to the Westin. Eats cafe, Legends sports bar and grill, a sushi place and peachwave frozen yogurt. There is also a liquor store. We ate off property most days, heritage kitchen and coconut joes were our favorites.

We rented a car while staying here and were able to drive about 9 miles down the beach to a public beach called Spotts. Here you will find sea turtles. This was better than paying to go to the turtle farm. We also did the excursion to stingray city with starfish island. I actually found the activity on tripadvisor and it was $54 a person. They picked us up and dropped us off to and from our resort. On the boat they had soda, juice, and water for us. They also had someone taking pictures for purchase. The two guys running the boat were fun and knowledgeable.

I would highly recommend sunshine suites resorts to anyone who wants to travel to grand cayman on a budget!
