Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel

Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Chisinau Moldova

The situation for LGBT travellers is not promising in Moldova. Although homosexual activity is legal and the age of consent is the same as for heterosexual couples (16 years), homosexuality is still highly controversial and opposed by the Orthodox Church there are a few gay friendly Hotels Chisinau, especially the foreigner brand chains.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Moldova face legal and social challenges and discrimination not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same rights and benefits as households headed by opposite-sex couples. Same-sex unions are not recognized in the country, so consequently same-sex couples have little to no legal protection. Nevertheless, Moldova bans discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace, and same-sex sexual activity has been legal since 1995.

Spalatorie it’s the first LGBT-friendly bar in Chisinau – possibly the only one. it’s cheap, they play good music and there are lots of friendly faces.

Chișinău is the capital of Eastern Europe’s Republic of Moldova. Amid blocks of Soviet-style architecture are landmarks including the neoclassical Nativity Cathedral. The dome-topped church anchors Chișinău’s Cathedral Park, a plaza with a Triumphal Arch celebrating Russia’s 19th-century victory over the Ottoman Empire. Stephen the Great Central Park is named for a Moldovan prince who resisted Ottoman rule.

Great hotel in the heart of old city Chisinau. We stayed in a Business suite and it was spacious and clean. The staff even left us a fruit plate with a little note greeting us.

The breakfast at the hotel was one of the best hotel breakfasts options I’ve seen to date. Plenty of options for everyone and they even have a menu for made to order options on the tables. The only downside I didn’t like is that the room service menu suggested to download the app to place the order, which we did but the hotel never received it so after an hour of waiting, we called and had to re-order. Wasn’t a huge issue but it would have been nice if the app worked.

The hotel is only a short walk from markets, the park areas, and great local restaurants.Overall, a really great stay in the heart of old city. I could not recommended this hotel enough.

The location is exceptional 5 minutes walkway away from the heart of the city. The staff has been very helpful throughout the stay and offered support in how to better explore the city. The breakfast was outstanding, the roof terrace offered great entertainment and has not affected the stay (sleep) in the suite.

Excellent hotel, friendly service, great rooms, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a nice culinary experience, really worth going. Also, most important for me, they have smoking rooms. Likewise, the location is perfect, in the very heart of the city.

It is clearly one of the best hotels in Chisinau; the business room is really spacious, the breakfast buffet is excellent with various vegetarian, meat and fish options, apart from the regular bread and pastry options. Furthermore, the ability to order custom eggs. The sky bar is really nice, great cocktails and good Asian (fusion) food. The menu of the New York Bar & Restaurant is so extensive that we had enough choice covering a stay of more than five days. Overall an excellent to stay whilst being in Chisinau.

This hotel is in a quiet side street near the Cathedral Park, right in the centre. Easy to walk to key places. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed.

Breakfast buffet is huge and varied. Delicious! The rooftop bar is a nice touch. Nice views over the city, upmarket styling. I didn’t try the other restaurants. There is a casino in the building, which I didn’t visit either. No noticeable traffic from it.

The gym is a bit small, but has some good equipment for a hotel gym.

Very good value for the quality. Would recommend.

Experience Courtyard by Marriott Chisinau. It’s the only 4-star international brand hotel in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova located next to Malldova Shopping Mall. With 120 lovely standard guest rooms, an incredible restaurant reflecting the very best of American cuisine, and an exceptional lobby with a perfect business center, you’ll have treasured memories of your visit.

It is a well designed property and offers some of the best accommodations in Chisinau. The location is excellent. Rooms, even though small, they are cozy and welcoming.

Service is excellent from the check in to everything else. When I arrived in my room, I found tiered tray of fruits and handwritten welcome note. You would expect such things at luxury properties, not at a Courtyard in Chisinau. However, they are very attentive to details.

To show their world class ambition, they named their restaurant New-York and it serves very good local and international fare.

If I ever go back, this is the place where I will be staying and I recommend it to you.

The Marriott Courtyard in Chisinau was the best Courtyard property I’ve stayed as a guest. The facilities — the room as well as the common areas — were new and tastefully furnished. Marriott selected a great location for what I needed too.

The excellent experience went beyond the facilities though. The staff was incredible. They were younger than at most Marriott properties, but brought tremendous expertise from overseas work. They each spoke multiple languages. They were beyond competent — very professional. But what really impressed me was their sincere desire to help and to engage with the guests. We felt very welcome at a personal level.

We generally prefer other Marriott brands over Courtyard in the USA, but if there were Courtyards in the USA and other countries like the one in Chisinau, Courtyard would be my preferred Marriott brand!

I strongly recommend this property. You have to try this place to see what I mean. Outstanding stay. Best ever for a Courtyard and on par for Marriott premium brands.

It’s a lovely hotel, all you would expect from a Marriott. It’s clean, comfortable and classy. Rooms are a good size with tea/coffee making facilities (the English LOVE this and NEED this facility!), safety deposit box and a shower to die for.

Breakfast was plentiful and varied and for the first time ever a hotel provided flax seeds for my cereal. It’s next to a great shopping mall so it’s easy to pop out for something to eat or go to the supermarket to top up on water or snacks for the onward journey. I would definitely recommend this hotel. I was very happy with my stay.

3. City Park Hotel 4* – LGBT Friendly Hotels Chisinau

City Park Hotel
City Park Hotel

City Park Hotel offers accommodation in the centre of Chişinău, 250 m from the Nativity Cathedral on a pedestrian street. Free private parking and free WiFi are available.

The rooms include a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom equipped with a shower. A hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers are provided.

Breakfast with a variety of options, including international and local cuisine, is served daily in the hotel’s restaurant. Berăria Chișinău Pub with live music in the evening offers a wide range of drinks. You will find a 24-hour front desk at the property.

The hotel is located on a pedestrian street, in the center of Chisinau. Nearby is a park, a central square, cafes and restaurants, a shopping center. The room is excellent: spacious, clean, the interior is interesting, fast Wi fi. Especially I liked beds, very comfortable. Breakfasts were great, I liked the restaurant, I recommend it for the evening. Well, the location, of course, is very successful. I liked everything, and did not find any disadvantage.

We still can’t get over how clean the rooms and bathrooms were at City Park. Rooms have everything you need from TV channels in a dozen different languages to an espresso maker with capsules to multiple size bottles of wine. The breakfast can only be summed up as phenomenal and the location, a two minute walk from the city’s main square could not be any more central. Carpe Diem Wine Bar, the city’s best is also a 6 minute walk away.

Located on a pedestrian only street, it lacks the traffic bustle of other streets downtown. That makes a big difference, It is also a 5 minute walk from the every central square and the cathedral. On the same block as the hotel there are several restaurants and bars. You couldn’t be any more central than this hotel.

The property itself is very new and doesn’t suffer from any of the typical maladies of an old building. It’s definitely a “Boutique” property and since the street facing curb is at a premium, it is narrow but deep. The steps from the street to the front door could be problematic for a handicapped person. Inside the lobby is rather small, but pleasant and well air conditioned (important in the summer).

The breakfast was fine, and featured the usual European “buffet” style served in a the restaurant attached to the hotel downstairs. I did find the noise pollution in the form of the “house euro techno” music jarring at breakfast. Alas, this problem is prevalent throughout the Easter Europe these days – the ever present beating of the techno trash in every coffee shop, restaurant, and public place. It’s truly tiresome. Particularly for breakfast. It not 2 am at the nightclub. Please turn it off or put on something mellow and quiet. But I digress :-).

The hotel can’t control the entire environment around you. You are in a poor, small, eastern european country. So the honking cars, and other inconveniences (such as an unforeseen construction around the neighboring building at 8 am) is not something they can insulate their guests from. But you wanted to come to a different kind of a place than usual beaten path, so you should be prepared for few bumps. 🙂

You will enjoy your stay. get out there and eat some of that great local food and drink some of that great local wine.
