Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved in recent decades. However, LGBT Americans may still face some legal and many social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, particularly in states with large conservative populations, such as in the Deep South; in rural areas; and in some Native American tribal nations.
U.S. federal law does not explicitly include protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In June 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity are included under “sex” as a prohibited ground of employment discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The front desk staff and valets were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. We loved the proximity to The Ohio Theater and German Village. The Buckeye Bourbon House was fantastic for having drinks before heading out for the evening. We had a 2-bedroom suite so we could spread out. Highly recommend! The room had a few maintenance issues but these were addressed immediately and did not inconvenience us whatsoever.
A couple of tips: If you are a coffee drinker 100% bring your own coffee and filters (there are coffee pots in the room) or go to the Starbucks located around the corner from the hotel. The coffee in the rooms and at breakfast was beyond awful. The breakfast was generic. For the value of the room it’s definitely worth spending the money to go out to The North Market or German Village instead.
The front rooms have a nice view of downtown but also face an Irish Pub that was super loud (Saturday night) & woke us up a few times. If you are a light sleeper just request a room in the back. Overall great stay. We would definitely return.
he building was formerly a bank with huge decorative ceiling. The hotel itself is typical of the newer Residence Inn format – modern fixtures and furniture. Adequate little kitchenette. Comfortable chairs and bed. Free Wi-Fi. The valet parking is a bit pricey, but inline with other downtown hotels. We were visiting friends who live in German Village, but there are lots of great things to see and do in Columbus, and this hotel would be a good home-base to see and do them from.
The location was perfect for walking to the theatre the next day. We had a two bedroom, two bath suite that allowed us to spread out. Note this hotel is in the middle of the city so there is some noise outside at night. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The restaurant has a wide bourbon menu, is pricey but that’s to be expected in a hotel downtown. Valet is $27 overnight, but we were able to leave our car until close to 4 pm the next day when we were ready to leave town.
Overall I recommend this hotel if you’re staying downtown Columbus. It’s worth the extra expense for a nice comfortable room.

The entire experience was wonderful, beginning at check-in. The woman at the front desk was smiling and very friendly and made us feel welcome. The rooms are very spacious, especially for the price. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels where the rooms were much smaller. In addition, everything was spotless.
The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept well. The breakfast is your typical free hot hotel breakfast; they offered egg patties, sausage patties, cold and hot cereal, bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, and make-your-own waffles. The food was all very good. We again had a very pleasant experience with the staff at breakfast; they were all very outgoing, smiling, and friendly. We really had a great experience with no complaints. We have stayed at many hotels in this area and this is our new favorite.
The beds were comfortable, the room temperature was perfect and, after a great night’s sleep, we went downstairs to enjoy a well-stocked continental breakfast with do-it-yourself waffles, mini- omelettes, sausage patties, milk, a selection of juices, and other breakfast items. The bathroom was clean and appeared to be new; the adjustable shower head was great.
The motel location is convenient. Right off the interstate but quiet. It is close to the casino, shopping and nice restaurants. This is the third time we have stayed at this property. Each time the room was clean and comfortable, the clerk friendly and helpful and the stay was pleasant. We will definitely stay here again in the future.
Location convenient just off thruway, in near a mall with selection of businesses. Room well appointed, clean, spacious. The breakfast was exceptional: not only the usual waffle and bagels, but hot sausage, fresh scrambled eggs, etc., well-served.
