Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Dhaka Bangladesh (2022 Updated)

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights are heavily suppressed in Bangladesh. … The group is the largest network for Bangladeshi gay men, organising numerous LGBT rights-related events in Dhaka since 2009. For Gay Friendly Hotels Dhaka can choose mostly the brand & chain hotels to have a journey without any hassle.

Due to the traditional mentality of the predominantly conservative Bangladeshi society, negative attitudes towards those in the LGBT community are high. Homosexuality is illegal under Bangladeshi law; a law which is inherited from the British Indian Government’s Section 377 of 1860.

Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh, in southern Asia. Set beside the Buriganga River, it’s at the center of national government, trade and culture. The 17th-century old city was the Mughal capital of Bengal, and many palaces and mosques remain. American architect Louis Khan’s National Parliament House complex typifies the huge, fast-growing modern metropolis.

Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka is a wonderful hotel in the heart of the city. It has great rooms, service, friendly staff and many dining options. It is clean and neat with all services one would expect from a major hotel chain. Security is excellent.

The hotel is located at heart of the city, very close to one of the largest shopping mall in Dhaka. The rooms are spacious but a little dated. The bathroom was OK, but not very large. The bathroom faucet was difficult to manage. The reception area is very nicely maintained. The porters and the receptionists were super courteous and helpful. The morning breakfast buffet was well stocked.

One of the best hotels in Dhaka, the rooms are excellent, they have a v good gym and swimming pool. The restaurant are very good and also the food. You get good variety in breakfast and its widely spread.it is situated in the heart of the city and there is a bashundhara mall a walking distance. The only drawback is the traffic in dhaka, if you want to go from the hotel its really bad sometimes it takes just an hour to reach gulshan which is hardly 5 to 6 km from the hotel.

This is a nice hotel, the personnel provided excellent service, the country is quite an adventure, dare to take a walk in the streets near the hotel, watch for the vehicles while crossing the streets, all types of units will surround you so be careful!

This hotel is in the center of Dhaka, not in North Dhaka where the most “western” places are. Outside the traffic is extremely hectic, but you hardly notice this inside.

The staff is very welcoming.
The room is good, clean, somewhat hard bed and an excellent shower. Also many amenities in the bathroom. They also provide plenty of bottled water even though they claim their tap water is drinkable. They also have a ‘turn down service’ at night.

There is a nice pool with sunbeds and towel service and also a mini pool for the little ones. There is a pool bar for drinks and a small bite. The spa we didn’t use, but the gym had more equipment than I’ve seen in many other hotels.

The breakfast buffet is very extensive, local and western products. The restaurant also has a good evening buffet (and a la carte we did not use) but to Bangladesh standards it is expensive (as is the pool bar).

Le Meridien Dhaka

A continental, buffet or Full English/Irish breakfast can be enjoyed at the property.

Le Meridien Dhaka offers an ideal setting just 02 kilometers from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and connected to the Central Business District. We provide a perfect place for guests to stay near the cultural nodes of the capital city and close by the township of Uttara.

This is the best hotel in Bangladesh. Indeed, it is a world class hotel. New, modern, well maintained, numerous dining options, great service…it has it all.

We stayed in Junior Suite which was huge and affordable. Great views out of the windows. Comfortable beds. Great linens. Fast internet. Hot showers with pressure. Fine toiletries from Malin+Goetz.

The restaurants are truly wonderful. Breakfast at Latest Recipe is phenomenal. Huge offerings. Noodle bar. Egg Station. Crepe Station. Chinese, Bangladeshi, Japanese cuisines. Favola is an amazing Italian restaurant. It would hold it’s own anywhere in the world. Olea provides superb Middle Eastern food. The restaurants are quite pricey by Bangladeshi standards, but they are worth it.

The location can be seen as a curse and as a benefit. It is less than 5 minutes from the international airport. That makes it ideal for stopovers or if you are passing through and want to avoid the horrendous traffic that is downtown Dhaka. On the other hand, if you are sightseeing, you are quite far from most of the attractions.

The rooms are stunning – very spacious, comfortable beds and pillows, love the tub and shower. There were many choices of restaurants – prices are reasonable – even got discount for crew, the swimming pool is amazing, nice gym and especially loved the jacuzzi. But what I loved most about this hotel is the exceptional hospitality provided by the staff. I would really to thank all of the staff and give them all recognition for the great service provided during my stay.

From the second I had entered the hotel, all of the staff were very welcoming and had big smiles as they greeted us. From the hotel security to the reception, to the restaurant staff, to room service staff, and more. I was very impressed as well as some of the staff had even greeted me as they had remembered me from my previous stay in the hotel. A very big thank you goes to all of the staff.

Highlights are: the incredible breakfast (perhaps the best I have had anywhere in the world, the very strong service levels from staff, friendliness of everyone, excellent gym, great pool, nice rooms, and large inviting lobby, very good security and safety. The location is good in terms of airport proximity and not too far from CBD, but to be honest, no matter where you stay in Dhaka you’re going to be in the car for hours. It’s a trek to old Dhaka if there is traffic. Areas for improvement are the pricing of food (but that’s common at all hotels in Dhaka) and perhaps add some more chairs at the pool as it gets quite crowded.
