The Hotel had excellent proximity to both downtown and old Strathcona. Took a mere minutes to get to where we needed to go. The customer service was excellent both online and in-person. The room was pristine and the bed was so comfortable. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Edmonton.
If you’re looking for a hotel with up-to-date amenities, clean rooms, and friendly staff; then be sure to book a room at the downtown Edmonton Matrix. It’s only a few blocks away from the Legislative Building, and the always busy Jasper Ave.
Excellent service, comfy and clean rooms, nice beds with big fluffy pillows, friendly and helpful staff, delicious free breakfast (piping hot eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. – not just the glorified coffee and cold bun other hotels call a “Continental breakfast”), nice amenities, good food and wine at the lounge, a free wine and cheese tasting every day. What’s not to like?
The Matrix is one of the go-tos if you are downtown Edmonton. Close to the Legislature. Rooms include all the comforts including mini fridges. Breakfast is included as is wine tasting each evening. The in-house restaurant offers a varied selection, complete with healthy and comfort food choices. Yoshi Sushi is also located in the hotel and the service is fantastic and the food fantastic! Best salmon sashimi I’ve had. Starbucks in the building as well.
This hotel had a lot of extras that they didn’t advertise when I booked. Weekends had a free wine and cheese tasting, there is a free shuttle service in a Lexus anywhere downtown. The breakfast was fantastic. TV channels were great and I appreciated all the sports options. Central to downtown Edmonton and a few minutes walk to Jasper Ave. Beautiful new hotel. Staff remembered me coming and going. Plenty of onsite parking but disappointed there was a charge for it.
A lovely hotel within walking distance from the things we wanted/needed. And if not, there is a free shuttle to take you. Great concierge, very knowledgeable and helpful. Lovely free breakfast in a room full of natural light. Best of all, a free wine and cheese (not a chintzy one either) every evening. The room we had was rather too small for the bed, and whoever thought a barn door was a good thing for a bathroom??
Looks nice, but a little too exposed for me. In anycase the price….the Saturday of a long weekend was wonderful and I have stayed in smaller less lovely and comfortable rooms. Well stocked mini-bar, but like all mini-bars, a bit pricey. All in all, we do plan to return.

The location is great, walking distance to the Rogers place and downtown typical amenities, restaurants, bars and parks. The parking isn’t a good experience, no elevator in the parkade and it is costly per day. Food is standard but a decent breakfast buffet that also has a charge. Overall staff were super friendly and accommodating and helpful.
Perfect location downtown Edmonton. I found a very spacious and comfortable room. The staff is very friendly and helpful throughout the whole hotel. Clean and appealing exercise and pool area.
Awesome breakfast buffet and nice restaurant staff.
The hotel is a perfect location for attending events at Rogers Center. The heated toilet seat was a nice surprise! This hotel is affordable and comfortable. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
I enjoyed my stay at Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel by APA. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The downtown location was great, even with a few street people in the area. The reviews of it being a bit tired or old are true, but still clean. I did notice a slight ‘old hotel’ smell to the room, when I returned, if I hadn’t left the air conditioner on a higher setting. The bathroom drain was a bit clogged, but they fixed it promptly when I reported it.
The room was very reasonably priced, and the staff (front desk, housekeeper, and general cleaning staff) were very friendly and helpful, which made it a great stay for me. Oh yeah, nice workout room, pool and (not sure if the sauna was working) and whirlpool too. Oh yeah, and a perfect downtown location, half a block from Jasper Ave. and many restaurants, and entertainment destinations!
The room and hotel are very clean, and the staff is noticeably friendly, engaging and helpful. There is a nice sized pool and hot tub on the second floor. The fitness area is adequate, but small. I walked less than 5 minutes to a very well equipped YMCA with a $15 day rate, The on-site restaurant is good quality for the price, but the hotel is in easy walking distance to fine dining, hipster noodle shops, sushi, Mexican taquerias and a shopping mall with a food court.
Convenience stores, a major department store, discount outlets, high-end boutiques are within a three block radius. The Royal Alberta Museum, the Edmonton Art Gallery, Main Public Library, City Hall and Citadel Theatre are a little further, but there is a complimentary hotel shuttle to those locations. There is a more than adequate breakfast buffet every morning with changing menu items under $20.
The hotel is very convenient to the ICE District, the new arena and casino complex, as well as Edmonton’s mayor office towers. Secure parking is available at extra charge. The Toto bidet toilet is a nice amenity once you get the hang of using it.

Impressed by the number of staff working at this hotel, registering guests, welcoming at the door, keeping the building spotless.
Westin is located in downtown Edmonton. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. The concierge person was helpful in giving us the directions of the locations and places where I had to go. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
