Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved in recent decades. However, LGBT Americans may still face some legal and many social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, particularly in states with large conservative populations, such as in the Deep South; in rural areas; and in some Native American tribal nations.
U.S. federal law does not explicitly include protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In June 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity are included under “sex” as a prohibited ground of employment discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Park Vista Doubletree was a great hotel for us. It was clean and nice and the pool was great. The staff was also friendly and nice. It is close enough to the downtown Gatlinburg main strip that it is convenient but far enough that it is quieter and nice. It is a 2-3 minute drive to the main strip. I don’t think you would really want to walk to it because of the steep hill.
The hotel is off the main strip of downtown Gatlinburg but it’s location gives fantastic views of the city and the Smoky Mountains. The trolley comes through every 30 minutes but since we came with a large group we had a bus that took us around. The Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is right behind it and is well worth a visit.
The hotel has many amenities including a large indoor pool, arcade, fitness room and restaurant.
This hotel far exceeded our expectations. Staff was friendly, very clean facilities, pool was great, cookies were warm and delicious and there was a man playing the piano in the lobby in the evenings. The view from our room was spectacular. Our room faced the mountains and it was an amazing sight to wake up to every morning. This might sound funny, but the shower had good water pressure – where we stayed last year was just a trickle at times. Beds and pillows were very comfy. Bathrooms (just shower and toilet) a tad small, but not a dealbreaker.
It’s not on the main strip in Gatlinburg but the trolley comes through every 30 minutes or you can make a short drive down to one of the many parking lots. It’s close to town, but far (and high) enough away that you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Smokies.
If you’re looking for a hotel to stay at in Gatlinburg, I’d definitely recommend Park Vista.

We always stay at the Greystone Lodge. Convenient to everything on the strip. Aquarium, Anakeesta, and the trolley right across the street. Everything within walking distance. Very clean and affordable. We did try a couple of other hotels but the first hotel was tore down for Jimmy Buffet’s hotel and the other hotel was so difficult to get in and out of with our vehicle. So we have made the Greystone our hotel of choice. The Greystone has it’s own parking garage with easy access to your room. Good breakfast. Highly recommended.
Spotless clean, excellent & friendly service, nice daily breakfasts offered for free, The beds were very comfortable. Located within walking distance to most anything you may choose to do. Never had an issue with finding a parking place near our rooms. I would highly recommend anyone planning a Gatlinburg vacation to check them out.
The hotel location was perfect… Right in the middle of the action. A short walk from Ole Red (Blake Shelton’s restaurant) and directly across the street from Anakeesta. (Anakeesta is a must do!). Parking was free and close to our room.
Our room was an Executive Deluxe. It was nice but nothing crazy special. Older hotel, simple upgrades like fresh paint, but nothing that will blow your socks off.
Don’t get me wrong… it’s nice and we will definitely stay here again, but the rooms weren’t anything great… thus a 4 rather than 5.
The cleaning during covid is obvious. They are doing a great job. Breakfast was ok. Limited selection but good enough. If you are looking for a big spread… Hotels aren’t where you find it.
If you are looking for a place to stay… Don’t hesitate staying here. It’s a good hotel and it is perfectly located.

Our room was updated and the improvements and amenities were nice. The balcony overlooking the river provided some beautiful views. Shower head in bathroom was heavenly. Heat and air worked appropriately in both rooms of the suite. Beds were comfortable and provided a good night’s sleep. Rooms were good size.
The river view from the balconies is absolutely beautiful. We also really liked the location. You are close enough to walk to most of the attractions to save on parking, but far enough away to not get stuck in traffic and the chaos of the weekend nightlife. The walls did seem fairly thin and the street noise could keep you up or even wake you up if sirens went by.
Room was decent sized, clean, had its own balcony with sturdy modern chairs overlooking the river. The location was great and we were able to walk to dinner at a fabulous Mexican restaurant. The common areas and check in desk are cabin themed. The free breakfast was one of the best if not the best that I have had at a Baymont hotel.
