On the whole, Switzerland is tolerant and gay-friendly, especially in more urban and diverse areas. Zurich, Geneva, and Basel are the centers of gay life in Switzerland, although ski resorts such as Zermatt, Lenzerheide, Gstaad and Arosa are also popular destinations (mostly in winter), even hosting gay ski weeks.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in Switzerland are relatively progressive by European standards, although LGBT people lack full legal equality. Its history is one of liberalisation at an increasing pace since the 1940s, in parallel to the legal situation in Europe and the Western world more generally. Legislation providing for same-sex marriage and IVF access will enter into force after a likely referendum in 2021.
Geneva has a long history of being a gay friendly resort and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Le Déclic Bar & Le Phare or Cruising Canyon bars are the most famous gay place in Geneva, Switzerland.

This hotel is a bout a 7 min walk from the main train station. The rooms are nice with very large TVs and super linens in the bathroom. It is ver modern a the bed was very comfortable. They have a tea/coffee machine for the morning as well as a mini bar.
All in all a nice place to stay for a reasonable price in the city.
Rooms decent sized, and well decorated. Bathroom and shower good. Lots of towels which was great. Television was massive, and very handy to have a brochure saying what channels were English etc.
Bed was comfortable, spare pillows if needed. Espresso machine and kettle in room, free espresso pods at reception which is a bonus.
Nice location, not far from Lake Geneva, and easy to navigate to trams/train station. The hotel also gave us free travel card each. This was great for us getting to the United Nations and into the shops other side of Lake Geneva. Great one night stay. Would recommend.
The staff were super friendly and the rooms clean and cozy. For coffee lovers, no need to worry as the hotel has got your best interest at heart. The rooms have coffee machines at your disposal. The hotel is also located a walking distance from the train station while surrounded by shopping centers. Enjoyed my stay.
Situated in the middle of Paquis, a very busy area of Geneva between the main station and the lake, it is in a rather quiet street. The rooms are simply but practically furnished and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a hotel for what it is built for – namely sleeping – it is an ideal place to spend some nights.

2. Ibis Styles Geneve Mont Blanc 3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Geneva

Ibis Styles Geneve Mont Blanc is located in Geneva, 900 m from Jet d’Eau and 900 m from St. Pierre Cathedral. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.
Each room includes a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom equipped with a shower.
United Nations Geneva is 1.5 km from Ibis Styles Geneve Mont Blanc, while PalExpo is 3.5 km from the property. Geneva International Airport is 4 km away.
This understated hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Goulart tram station, and 2 km from both The Geneva Water Fountain and St Pierre Cathedral.
Featuring bright carpeted floors, the hip rooms offer complimentary Wi-Fi, satellite TV and en suite bathrooms, as well as air-conditioning.
There’s a sauna. Breakfast is available.
It was a good location for what we needed it for, with just a short walk to many good restaurants and the old town. Breakfast was included, whilst it wasn’t gourmet it did the job. Teas and coffees were out of a machine but had an alright selection, also was just available from the ground floor as no facilities within the room.
The bathroom was big and had a refillable soap and shampoo containers so less plastic waste.
There was also a sticker you could place your android phone near or visit a website on iPhones to order food etc.. which was handy. We never used it but a good idea.
Rooms were small, but very clean and best of all noise free. Staff was friendly and they provide you with a free public transportation pass. Please be aware the red district is nearby in case you are walking at night, so you are not off guard. This is very common to find near the central stations like in many other European cities (e.g. Frankfurt, Amsterdam), but this is organized and legal which does not make it a dangerous neighbourhood/area.
Ibis Styles exceeded my expectations. The room and bathroom are clean and modern, and stylish. The bed is comfortable. There is certainly enough room for a solo traveler and it would be a comfortable fit for two if you’re not packing too much (limited hanging space in the closet). Everything felt new.
The front desk staff are kind and courteous and eager to help without being intrusive.
Breakfast was solid and even had a few hot stations which I didn’t expect (scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, etc). I’m not comparing it to breakfast you would get at Four Seasons, but it was more than I expected and very satisfactory.
The location of the hotel is great…..just a short 5min walk to the lake, the bridge, and anywhere else you’d want to get to in central Geneva. The hotel even gives you a complimentary city pass which you can use for boat rides, tram rides in the Old Town and the train back to the airport (all free with the pass).
With the money I saved, I dined both nights at the Four Seasons nearby (the rooftop Japanese restaurant at the Four Seasons is superb and I think the best views overlooking Geneva).
Overall, a terrific value, great location and a very comfortable stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and would be happy to stay here again. Just to note, there is another Ibis Styles hotel just a block or two away from this one. That one looked bigger, but I much preferred this one.
Well it is a typical Ibis hotel located approx at 5-6 mins walk from railway station, bus stand and lake area.
Rooms are tiny (as expected). Common and small breakfast area. No coffee maker in the room. Provide only 1 complementary water bottle during check-in.
Finding the hotel is tad difficult as its in one of the lanes and not on the main road.
It is a good place to stay if you are going to be out the entire day. Overall , have no complaints. You know what to expect from a budget hotel and this one is definitely in that category.
Loved this hotel, very clean, brand new, funky decor & theme, great shower & bathroom, massive flat screen tv with UK channels, super comfy bed, air con, complimentary water, free tea & coffee in reception. Loads of charging points, and if you don’t have a Swiss adaptor, there are normal Euro & USB charging points in the breakfast/lobby area.
Really helpful staff (Guillaume), giving us maps & free travel passes and recommending bars/things to do/directions to the nearest off licence! They were happy to give us glasses for our wine to take to our room, and let us take the hotel towels to Bains des Paquis so we could swim in the lake. Breakfast was ok and was included in our deal, but I wouldn’t take it for 18CHF. Great location near transport and just couple of minutes to the lake. We were able to park our motorcycle right outside for free too.

Excellent hotel, brand new, very helpful staff. Excellent location, very nice and clean room. I would definitely recommend the hotel to other people and I am looking forward to visiting the hotel in the near future.
I can recommend this design hotel, best materials, great light concept, light, TV, shutters can all be controlled via ( unfortunately dirty) iPad. Bathroom in all light modes, villeroy & Boch China, Hansgrohe bathroom, Vitra furniture.
Location and Quality at an affordable price thanks to small rooms but with all you need!
CitizenM is a great new way to stay in the middle of a city where the action is without paying an arm and a leg and still have a quality bed & shower.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the very center of Geneva. The staff is very kind and helpful – the kindness of Elena May (the Birthday Surprise touched me a lot), the hospitality of Filippo and, last but not least, the tasteful cocktails prepared by Quentin definitely made our stay great. The rooms are very comfortable, smartly and innovatively designed. The bed is huge and super cosy. If you appreciate Vitra Museum and the works of Jeff Koons and Keith Haring this place is your Paradise.
