Perhaps it’s the region’s Golden Coast –like weather and progressive vibe, or its diverse yet well-integrated population (you won’t find a concentrated “gayborhood” like Sydney’s Darlinghurst and Oxford Street here); Melbourne and Gold Coast in Australia are about as LGBT–friendly as they come. With many gay friendly hotels Gold Coast to choose from it’s a great summer or winter destination
Australia is one of the most LGBT-friendly countries in the world. In a 2013 Pew Research poll, 79% of Australians agreed that homosexuality should be accepted by society, making it the fifth most supportive country in the survey behind Spain (88%), Germany (87%), Canada and the Czech Republic (both 80%).
The Gold Coast is a metropolitan region south of Brisbane on Australia’s east coast. It’s famed for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots and elaborate system of inland canals and waterways. It’s also home to theme parks such as Dreamworld, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild. Inland, hiking trails crisscross Lamington National Park’s mountain ridges and valleys, home to rare birds and rainforest.

Great location, walking distance to the beach, Pacific Fair, Star Casino and the great local restaurants, bars and cafes around Broadbeach.
The apartment itself had a slightly dated feel which is to be expected as the hotel has been around a long time, however it had great views from each bedroom looking toward the beach, with quite a large corner balcony. Loved the Kevin Murphy amenities! Kitchen was large and well stocked, and the living area and master bedroom were very spacious.
The location is brilliant – walking distance to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre or Oasis Shopping Centre; tram right across the road from building; Exhibition Centre walking distance; beach walking distance. The views were stunning – we had the ocean views and they were 270 degree views. Large balcony with plenty of room to sit and enjoy the view. Rooms were well appointed / bathrooms same / lounge and dining area spacious and kitchen very well appointed including dishwasher tablets, dishwashing liquid etc.
Meriton Broadbeach is perfect for a sneaky getaway with it’s great location near the beach & restaurant precinct. The staff were professional, friendly & efficient, the room was spacious, clean and had everything you need for a short or longer stay.
Beautiful location, our room faced the hinterland and both day and night views were spectacular! Very spacious warm and cosy rooms and great in room facilities. Staff were friendly. The indoor pool and gym are great.
Great size room with kitchen facilities and ocean views. Located close to shopping centre, enabling us to shop and return to Meriton with our shopping trolley.
The suite was incredible with everything you would need with a well stocked kitchen full of cook wear including a pod coffee machine. Seperate laundry room with washer and a dryer. Complimentary WiFi and a good selection of foxtel channels.
The bathroom was beautiful with a separate shower and bath.
The place was spotless, housekeeping attended daily to freshen up the room and restock supplies.
The staff at reception and everyone else I bumped into during the stay were very friendly, helpful and professional.

Get out and glide down the coast with ease on the light rail. Blend me-time with us-time at voco™ Gold Coast.
The hotel location is central, but the surrounding area is a bit shabby and seedy especially at night. We would definitely consider IHG as a brand in future, but for location we will choose one of the many good options at Broadbeach for our next visit.
Our location is also perfect for those travellers who want to be in Surfers Paradise yet have a nice relaxing time by the pool and in our newly refurbished rooms.
The Deluxe rooms in this hotel have been tastefully refurbished with walk in shower. Good selection of tv channels and convenient location to central Surfers. Tram stop at door. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
Nice and central on Surfers Paradise. Just a short stroll to pretty much anywhere you need to go to. Nice easy access in and out if you are driving as well. The room was nice and clean, really good size with a great size bathroom.
Very central location, great restaurants & bars on-site. Stayed for a couple of nights and had a great time with no issues with noise, service or rooms. Wifi was a little slow, and considering the fact that it isn’t complimentary was a bit disappointing.
LOCATION
The hotel is conveniently located close to Cavill Avenue’s dining, shops and nightlife, in sunny Surfers Paradise, in QLD, Australia.
FOOD
Is fresh seafood your thing? Perhaps a hearty steak fresh off the grill? My mouth is still watering whilst I reminisce about the delicious global food options made available in their three restaurants and bar. Yep, three restaurants! They have a chilled cafe lounge called Social House, then there’s Cliffords Grill & Lounge featuring quality produce and a comfy space to enjoy it in, and thirdly, you have Waves Buffet Restaurant which is where I chose to indulge during this particular trip.
HOTEL FACILITIES
Boasting two beautiful pools, a selection of function spaces including a large ballroom, a luxurious L’Aqua day spa, a gym and wonderful dining options; it truly has something for every traveller, for business of pleasure.
HOTEL EXPERIENCE
Upon entering the hotel, you’ll be greeted by a pair of beautiful, large mediterranean style urns and a breezy foyer. I really appreciate when a hotel puts thought into its design and into making guests feel relaxed and welcome; after all, first impressions really do count. Tones of navy, grey and white, with pops of yellow make for a relaxed, modern atmosphere at Voco Gold Coast. The deluxe room that was generously provided to me for two nights, had eye-opening views of the ocean and a refreshing rainfall shower with quality Aveda toiletries. Also, fast complimentary internet, and a great selection of movies, tv shows, sport and more to watch on the flat-screen. As a little surprise, the hotel provided me a complimentary bottle of wine, which was a lovely, welcoming touch.
STAFF
Super friendly and approachable staff. I was greeted at reception by the lovely Seila, and each member of staff I dealt with was nothing but accommodating to my needs.

Super great location within the walking distance. Restaurant, Bars, Shops, Beach, Tram Stops are all within 5 mins walking. We took train from Brisbane central and stop at Helensvale then continue on G:train to Caville Avenue where is the hotel located.
Extremely comfortable, big and relax. One big living room with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open kitchen with oven, big fridge & dish washing machine. Washing machine with laundry powders are also provided.
The most cool thing there is the room which has a very big curved balcony which across the two bedrooms and heading east, you can freely enjoy the sunrise with drinks in there. This hotel is located at a very convenient area. It is just right in the train station called “Cavill Avenue“, 5 mins walk to the ‘Woolworths’ supermarket, 10 mins walk to the Gold Coast Beach. Lots of different types of restaurants around the hotel as well. Food and transportation are all very convenient.
It’s a Hilton, so you can comfortably expect a comfortable and relatively luxe stay. The property isn’t brand spanking new anymore but I didn’t note any signs of tiredness or lack of maintenance.
The Surfers Paradise Hilton and Residences is an establishment which is located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, close to the main beach and Cavill Avenue.
Also, this location is close to shops and public transport, making it an ideal location for a a gay friendly vacation.
The accommodations were comfortable, modern, clean and with a pleasant luxurious yet practical ambience.
The bedding was the usual Hilton high standard.
The hotel was just purely amazing from the view from the balcony overlooking the beach to the many pools and spas and other facilities. The staff were so friendly and caring and showed true passion for their jobs and created a great space to relax.
The standards and guest service levels at this hotel are constantly at a very high level – representing a consistent service level at peak and off-peak seasons. This is very important for a quality hotel – no doubt resonating the directives of good management.
Size of suite is perhaps smaller than the relaxation room but has a separate living area and bathtub in the bathroom. Ocean views are also very relaxing and welcoming – particularly with the balcony that lets in the ocean breeze. Bedding is comfy and room is overall well cleaned, except for some permanent stains on the carpets.
Breakfast buffet was usual – offering both hot and cold dishes, with danishes and fruits on offer also. As the this property is a premium holiday location, perhaps the hotel could consider offering a kids’ breakfast section during the holiday periods – similar to Hilton Tokyo Bay offerings where a dedicated kids section exist. Catch restaurant was packed but we noted that all staff on-hand were attentively clearing tables, delivering orders and showed overall efficiency – that we had not observed at other equivalent hotels.
Sauna and jacuzzi were not as impressive due to high guest usage and perhaps low regular maintenance. These facilities are located at the Residences tower. The floor of the sauna was dirty, whilst the jacuzzi was highly chlorinated that one could smell the chlorine and the stinging sensation in one’s eyes. This is perhaps the only shortcoming of the property. Otherwise, gym is well maintained and has excellent ventilation.
This property constantly exceeds one’s expectations and surely feels like a room away from home; with friendly and attentive staff. We will surely return for our future stays.

I highly recommend staying at Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise
The accommodation is spacious, high quality and very comfortable. The balcony provides the ideal setting for breakfast, a leisurely lunch, sundowners or an intimate dinner overlooking the ocean.
The main bedroom includes a huge, comfortable king size bed. The en suite has both shower and spa bath with a window rather than a wall allowing natural light to filter in and enhance your surrounds. Perhaps the only drawback is that the toilet is not separate to the bathroom
The quality of the hotel was high and the staff were pleasant. The view from the room was one of the best we’ve enjoyed in many years and you not be any closer to the ocean front. The indoor and outdoor pools were enjoyable and the gym a very decent size. The hotel is positioned one minute’s walk to Cavill Avenue and the beach. Overall I was impressed with the location, quality of hotel and the views. Will be back here again very soon.
The beach view is something you don’t get at any other hotels absolutely gorgeous views, massive pools spas sauna steam room. We will definitely be recommending this hotel and will be back. You literally walk out the door into the shopping central.

Such a nice place to stay, clean , comfortable, well located. We enjoyed the views and the walks . Can leave the car and walk to the shops or the beach. The manager was extremely helpful and shared lots of info with us. Each apartment has a designated parking space. Good place!
Location was amazing, right across the road from the beach and within walking distance to the Supercars circuit, surf club, yacht club and restaurants.
Linen as cleans and changed after 4 days and the apartment was equipped with everything that we needed.
The views, location and amenities at this place are fantastic and this was our second visit. We had a renovated unit on the 7th floor and enjoyed fantastic ocean views where we could watch the whales every morning. It’s over the road from the beach, a short walk to shops, restaurants and cafes and enjoys easy access to the theme parks. Our unit had all the expected mod cons necessary for a family holiday including dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and unlimited internet .
The unit was clean, modern and spacious, with an ensuite to each bedroom. The only small disappointment was the internet speed (it was very slow) and internet range, which was only reliable in the living room.
Spacious, clean apartment with the most amazing panorama views over the ocean. Management extremely welcoming and friendly. Whilst our apartment was a tad dated it was nevertheless very clean and the views made up for any imperfections. Magnificent sunrises, moonlight over the water made for a relaxing weekend.
The apartments have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, all the equipment needed to cook your own meals. It is about a 30 minute walk to Surfers Paradise, 15 minutes walk to the Marina Mirage. A bus goes past the front door that will take your to the outlet shopping mall of Harbourtown. The Southport Life Savings Club is a short walk away for meals, also a Subway, convenience store & Breakfast off Tedders right next door. It is also a short walk to the restaurants of Tedders Street.
The apartment we stayed in was a little dated but very clean. The managers Mike & Jane Palmar were very friendly. It is less than five minutes walk to the beach. Would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone that wants accommodation on the Gold Coast away from the busy Surfers Paradise.
