Celebrate LGBT Pride at the Gothenburg Pride Parade and stay in one of the gay friendly hotels Gothenburg, Sweden.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in Sweden are regarded as some of the most progressive in Europe and in the world. Same-sex sexual activity was legalized in 1944 and the age of consent was equalized to that of heterosexual activity in 1972. Sweden also became the first country in the world to allow transgender persons to change their legal gender post-sex reassignment surgery in 1972 whilst transvestism was declassified as an illness.
After allowing same-sex couples to register for partnership benefits in 1995, Sweden became the seventh country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage countrywide in 2009.
Gothenburg, a major city in Sweden, is situated off the Göta älv river on the country’s west coast. An important seaport, it’s known for its Dutch-style canals and leafy boulevards like the Avenyn, the city’s main thoroughfare, lined with many cafes and shops. Liseberg is a popular amusement park with themed rides, performance venues and a landscaped sculpture garden.

I found the Scandic hotel very good.
The room is very clean and with the right measurements. I t had more than what i needed for my short trip. The hotel also provides you a Gym, not complete, but ok for a decent workout, and a Sauna.
The breakfast is excellent, complete with more than you can eat including cakes from Sweden and Denmark.
Two steps from downtown and close to the university. Transportation at you door step.
Excellent hotel in a great location. Directly on the main street. Shuttle to and from airport at 500mt.
Fantastic breakfast very varied between sweet, savory and fruit. There is no minibar in the room but at the reception you will find a small market.
The breakfast had good choice and with good cosy feeling. We loved the extra service from one of the breakfast hosts who offered coffee/tea directly to guests at their tables. Great service!
The best thing with this hotel is the location, so close to everything.
All of the rooms were spacious with a nice desk, decent sized bathroom, with shower/tub combination.
The staff were simply fantastic at answering questions, giving directions, arranging cabs and every other request. They handle all with great patience and courtesy … and they were always able to get me where I wanted to go.
The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have had in European travels (13 countries), with a huge variety of foods, all fresh and quickly replenished. It can get a bit hectic when the hotel is full, but there are plenty of tables and the staff is constantly clearing/cleaning tables.
The location is perfect: It is easily reached: there is an airport bus pick-up/drop off about 1.5 blocks away; it is on the main thoroughfare through town, and there is a tram stop less than 1/2 block away. With the tram you are only two stops (or a short 5-block walk) from a tram hub, as well as several museums and visitor sites (including the Visitor Information Center). For those interested, the Swedish National Archives Region Archive is about two blocks away.
In the same block there are several restaurants and cafes, plus convenience stores and a grocery.
Across the street, there is a fabulous local cafe, famous with locals, and a long-time business, Junggrens Cafe.

The hotel consists of three connected towers, quite high ones (29 floors).
Great location for Lisberg, and a 20 minute easy walk into Gothenburg town centre. It’s a 30 minute, 330 SEK Uber ride from the airport. If you are on the late flight from Copenhagen there is a bus from the airport that drops you off outside the hotel for 110 SEK. Just walk out of the airport and it’ll be waiting.
One of the peculiarities of the hotel room, is that the room doors are opening outwards – into the corridor which in smaller rooms give more space in the room itself.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped with all what is expected from such high level hotel. There were a lot for plug for connection of all of your electronic gadgets and the internet was the quickest I had in long time. Also room illumination was good, even for a reading in the bed. Each room is also equipped with umbrella, which comes quite handy considering Gothenburg weather.
The service was excellent as well as the food at breakfast. Additional feature which I haven’t seen in other hotels – there was a special buffet breakfast (just atop of the reception) for very early departures (like at 4:00 am).
The room is more than solid, a good bed, a place to sit/work, good bathroom, iron + board, TV, safe and a minibar it’s all there and it’s of good quality. In terms of service, despite it being a gigantic Hotel, the guest relation manager goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy your time at the Hotel even more.
The food is just great, a lot of different option and restaurants in door of the Hotel and the food is just lovely. Although you are not really in the city center it is within walking distance and the service and the food definitely makes up for it.
Rooms were well proportioned, clean and comfortable – slept great. Free wifi, iron included and a mini bar (nice beer after a long day!)
Don’t forget the skybar in the evening though, that’s a great experience and fabulous views.
Simple small gym which could get busy if you pick the wrong time, didn’t want to pay for the pool/spa so can’t comment there. Breakfast is quite a walk in the morning so make sure you’re not in a rush – that said, it was pretty nice with lots of choice in the buffet though the coffee was a little limited.

There’s an ornate library with an antique piano, plus a glamorous lounge bar, and an elegant, candlelit restaurant.
This over-posh is a bit tiresome when you spend there more than a night. It’s too much of a good thing and very oppressive with its purple and dark-red.
But: the service is up to the top and the restaurant is really very good (in case you manage to see anything in the dark-red interior and light.
The interior design is very special, colourful and the Art is abundant all over the house. Rooms are somewhat small but the bed is out of this world, we slept on cloud Seven, spotlessly clean bathroom, 100% soundproof windows. The Restaurant deserves at least one Michelin star, the wine List is extensive. You could do a vertical tasting of the best years, Not only French , wines from all Four corners of the world. Best breakfast.

The restaurant inside is incredibly beautiful, classic style, Russian luxury feeling, elegant.
There is also an outside rooftop open space restaurant and bar, with palm trees, giving it a colonial and exotic touch.
The food is tasty, small portions elegantly served. The Austrian eco wines are delicious.
An island in the centre of the city.
This hotel is a feast for the eyes. Clever mix of modern luxury with great character that you don’t see in many of the usual drab hotel chains. The hotel is well located and I found the service from the staff to be friendly yet professional. Will definitely return to stay here on my next visit to this wonderful city.
The Dorsia has been ‘ created’ from a mind verging on insanity. I have seen him, the owner, sitting quietly in the corner of this quite extraordinary hotel, smiling with an assumed confidence that knows your mind is going to be challenged by everything you see and experience. He is not flamboyant nor does he exude confidence or find the need to boast about his achievements. Instead he sits and watches taking in your every reaction.
The Dorsia defies conventionality – it is one of the most unusual hotels I have ever experienced not just in Sweden but anywhere – every detail of every single item of decor and furniture comes with a story of quality and design. It’s a range of comforting colours, each room designed with thought , each with it’s own story to tell.
The food and service of course matches the decor and is delivered by discerning but discreet staff who forever hover in the background anticipating your every move and needs.
If you never stay in another hotel again ….. Do visit and stay in his one.
