Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Graz Austria (2024 Updated)

Gay Pride in Graz  is a peaceful march of LGBT people and their relatives and friends, which combines social and political protest with entertainment such as live concerts. A few gay friendly hotels Graz are available to be booked online. It takes place every year in the month of June, one of the main destination of Austria. There are more than 45 daily flights from various cities of Europe to Graz if you want to attend the parade.

Graz is the capital city of the southern Austrian province of Styria. At its heart is Hauptplatz, the medieval old town’s main square. Shops and restaurants line the narrow surrounding streets, which blend Renaissance and baroque architecture. A funicular leads up Schlossberg, the town hill, to the Uhrturm, a centuries-old clock tower. Across the River Mur, futuristic Kunsthaus Graz exhibits contemporary art.

What are the top attractions to visit in Graz?

Graz is Austria’s second-largest city and was named European Capital of Culture in 2003 and City of Design in 2009. It is one of the best-preserved historical cities in Europe, and is full of impressive institutions and exciting cultural attractions.

1. Grand Hôtel Wiesler 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Graz

Grand Hôtel Wiesler
Grand Hôtel Wiesler

Located right by the Mur River in the Old Town of Graz, Hotel Wiesler Graz features a sauna, a fitness area, and a barber shop. The hotel also offers a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi.

The restaurant Salon Marie serves Austrian and international cuisine. The rich and varied breakfast buffet is also served there.

The Kunsthaus museum is 100 m away, and the Mur Island is 300 m from Hotel Wiesler Graz. The Schlossberg Funicular can be reached in a 5-minute walk. Bicycles can be rented on site.

Grand Hôtel Wiesler, in the heart of Graz, has abandoned splendour and star ratings – but not the good old days. Fresh details such as a traditional shave from our female barber, a Turkish bath or military bikes for hire round off the whole experience. At the ‘Salon Marie’ restaurant (open all day), the day begins with breakfast beneath street art covering an entire wall and is finished off with international dishes and soul vinyl music.

Only a few minutes’ walk from Schloßberg and Kunsthaus, the Wiesler is the perfect base for a city tour. And those who still have to work will find free WiFi throughout the hotel. ‘Re-interpreted luxury’ feels comfortingly light at Grand Hôtel Wiesler – for all those who expect more than just a good bed and central location.

The location is fantastic, right on the river and cross the river and you are in the old town and all it has to offer. The hotel itself is great, not highly luxurious but it has everything you need, is very clean and the staff helpful.

The hotel is well situated directly across from the altstadt via one of the many bridges spanning the river running between the old and new parts of the city. The rooms are modishly uncluttered but contain everything you need and lots of tongue in cheek touches.

This hotel follows the hipster style of its sibling properties in Vienna (Daniel) and Graz (Daniel): minimalistic rooms that still provide all you need. The bathroom setup is known (shower room, room for toilet, sink in room). Bed was comfortable, view scenic. Ask for a room facing the river. You will be able to see, yes, the river and also the mountain with the remains of the castle. The street is not bothersome if you keep your windows closed.

The hotel has a chique atmosphere but without being posh or uptight.
Decor felt very modern and fresh.

I loved the layout of my room with the huge walk in shower and the beautiful sink with the mosaic patterns. Slept wonderful in the nice and fluffy bed.

Breakfast is special too. Definitely not your average hotel breakfast.
Again it’s all in the details. There was line seed to stir into your yoghurt, fresh fruits, banana yogurt smoothies and an actual honeycomb from which you can scoop the most delicious and fresh honey you’ve ever tasted.

Then there’s the location which is spot on. Right on the edge of the hip Lend quarter and right in front of the Old Town. I always walked everything from the hotel, no taxi or public transport needed. Graz is a cute little city and nothing was ever more than a 10 minute walk away.

The decor was very modern and the rooms were very clean. We had a balcony that ran the length of the apartment AND a private entrance to the terrace. The breakfast buffet had a really nice selection of both hot and cold healthy choices.

We were really surprised by our room, it was modern, had tonnes of useful facilities (such as oven, microwave etc) and it was also really comfortable with two single beds and a sofa bed. Bathroom was a really good size – in fact the whole room was a good size, we didn’t get cramped in there for three days!

Staff were super friendly and the best bit was the Italian restaurant attached, the food was absolutely phenomenal – the best food we had on the trip including a stunning Bresola pizza and some lovely seafood pasta dishes. Really cheap for food and drink too. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is located in a beautiful rural setting not far from the city of Graz and about 20 minutes by car to the airport. There also appears to be a local commuter train service to a station fairly close by.

Lovely hotel just over the bridge from the old town centre. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Rooms very clean and beds comfortable. Loved the breakfast plenty of variety. Parking available cross the road for 7 euros per day.

The room was clean and well furnished, with a good standard of bed and bathroom linen. The breakfast was excellent, with a fine of selection of cheeses, breads, cereals and fruit and even the possibility of sparkling wine. Parking was however limited and not free and we were unable to reserve a place. We were able to park on the street right outside for one euro, but had to move the car by 9 am the following morning.

The hotel is very conveniently situated. A short walk via the floating bridge takes you into the old centre of Graz.

The room was simple but immaculately clean as was the rest of the hotel.

Location wise it’s simply great with the old centre within a few minutes walking distance and the lively Lendlplatz around the corner.

Breakfast was absolutely fantastic with fresh ingredients, lots of choice and eggs prepared as you wish them.

A great hotel for a short city trip or if you like to have a break when you travel further south to Slovenia, Croatia, i.e
