Israel has a very lively gay scene. Tel Aviv has plenty of rainbow-coloured flags, a huge Gay Pride Parade and plenty of hang-outs. Haifa and Jerusalem have smaller gay communities and there are a few gay friendly hotels Haifa. The resort town of Eilat is gay friendly, although the scene is mostly Israeli tourists.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in Israel are considered the most developed in the Middle East.Although same-sex sexual activity was legalized in 1988, the former law against sodomy had not been enforced since a court decision in 1963.

Haifa is a northern Israeli port city built in tiers extending from the Mediterranean up the north slope of Mount Carmel. The city’s most iconic sites are the immaculately landscaped terraces of the Bahá’í Gardens and, at their heart, the gold-domed Shrine of the Báb. At the foot of the gardens lies the German Colony, with shops, galleries and restaurants in 19th-century buildings.

This modern hotel is centrally and uniquely located, being directly linked to the fashionable Panorama Mall, with its fine stores, elegant cafes and cinemas. Close by, the attractive Carmel Center bustles with life, offering an array of shops, cafes and entertainment venues.

Nice, clean and updated rooms. Room rate included complimentary entry to two places of interest in Haifa. Interesting lift car system that you’d either love or hate. I loved it! The gym isn’t exclusively for hotel guest use. Rather, it is a paid gym which just so happens to be located in the hotelHotel guests get to use it during its operational hours. There was a nice big pool with lots of sunbathing beds. The pool area is super windy, so it might even be cold at times. Pro tip: pool is completely empty in the mornings, and it’s the best time to swim.

Situated on the top of the Carmel mountain with good views of the Haifa Bay and the Bahai Temple, the hotel is very well run, with the manager very visible personally attending to all your needs.
Food was delicious and plentiful. Rooms were pleasant with good linens, pillows and towels. Comfy beds.

Bahai temple walking distance – a must. And the price was was very reasonable. Great value.

A great location on the top level of Haifa. Stayed in a bayview room which has a panoramic view of the bay and city which was fantastic. The room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was good with a wide variety of food from which to choose.

If you are not staying in deluxe properties, this is a good hotel for you!

The Colony Hotel Haifa is situated in the restored historic center of Haifa, in a unique preserved building, that was completely renovated in 2009 into a boutique hotel offering 40 luxurious rooms of the highest design standards. The hotel is located only 300 m from the world famous Baha’i Gardens which is one of the World Heritage Cultural sites. Next to the hotel are restaurants, cafes and a shopping mall, and it is only a short distance from the sea.

A very nice small boutique hotel, located just in the very center of the city – the German colony. The location allows easy access to the major tourist attractions including the Bahai garden- the lower gate is just about 100 meters or so. There is also plenty of nice restaurants, bars etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Some little things that required attention on arrival ( towels etc) were addresses immediately. We’ve got on arrival a complimentary bottle of wine and a small pack of chocolates – awesome!

Moreover, the hotel provided us a complementary 1.5 liter bottle of spring water – highly appreciated on these very hot Israel summer days. The rooms were very clean and the general level of maintenance was very good.

The room itself was very nice, a comfortable bed and well equipped for a short stay. The hotel itself was very nicely designed and gave a good feeling and breakfast was a buffet with a wide selection of dishes – hot and cold that was very satisfying.

The location is great, right next to the Baha’i Gardens (although unfortunately the view of the gardens was blocked from the room’s window) in the German Colony area of Haifa.

The building is an historic old German templar structure, and the rooms have both modern conveniences (good cable, jacuzzi) and the charm of a century ago. it’s fun to look at the old historic photos of Haifa and realize your own hotel is one of the few remaining buildings from that era. Location is fantastic, right in the heart of Haifa’s lively German Colony district, which makes a good base for exploring the city and area.

Despite the numerous restaurants in the area, our second-floor, front-facing room was very quiet (so presumably every room in the hotel is). Breakfast came with the hotel rate and was truly wonderful — a great array of salads and pastries. Room rate was very reasonable with advance booking, and seemed reasonable without (esp compared to Israel’s generally high hotel prices).

Note: we used Haifa as a good base to explore the entire northern coast region — metro Haifa and Mount Carmel, Akko, Atlit, Caesaria; having a rental car made a big difference (Haifa’s hills looked pretty daunting in August), and it was very easy to find parking spots on the back streets behind the Colony Hotel.

Hotel building is really nice and old, in the center of the German colony watching the Bahai gardens. Room was clean, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, good air conditioning, comfortable bed, even got bathrobe and slippers. Breakfast in the morning was for long time which is also great so no need to wake up early just for breakfast. The food was plenty, rich and very tasty. View from the roof was very nice. Will cone back maybe in the winter when it’s not so hot and humid.

Hotel is located in a great area in the German Colony, in the middle of a street with a great view of the Gardens, Check in was quick, very friendly staff, rooms are nice with nice views (3rd floor rooms get a balcony is even better overlooking the street!) Staff are very nice and diverse, such as Haifa itself!

The hotel is within a very active street with lots of Restaurants, cafe’s and bars, and walking distance (less than 10 minutes) for downtown Haifa where more bars and hangout places are, (the beach is pretty close too) Hotel rooms kept their authentic tiles and architecture from a period of a bit less than a 100 years so you can feel the spirit of the city, breakfast was rich was tastes and different flavor.

The happy hour at 6 pm is adorable, with free wine and snacks. We stayed at the superior room which was super clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was served at a nearby restaurant and included local dishes – an amazing experience. Staff is friendly and helpful with tips on where to hang out.

Architecturally this is a beautiful restoration of an old house in the old German Quarter of Haifa. The grounds ( garden ) are quite beautiful, and we spent quite a bit of time just sitting and reading.

In the historic part of Haifa (pronounced KHALIFAH) is a beautiful renewed old house turned hotel. 150 years old but all modern. Near the old city, Bahaian Gardens, Wadi Nisnas. The port and nightlife. Walking distance. Some beautiful views from the room window, great service.

The hotel itself is modern, and the location of the hotel is perfect and close to Ben Gurion street which is full of restaurants and cafes. The rooms are modern and well designed, we were upgraded to a room with the Bahai Garden view.

Excellent location in quiet street but only 5 mins walk to main street. Parking is free on a placement adjacent to the hotel. We had a room on the ground floor with a small patio outside. Room was small but adequate and spotlessly clean. Refreshments available all day – Water, tea, coffee and fruit, really hot weather so very much appreciated.

Mini breakfast in the hotel was lovely and a voucher for a restaurant for a substantial breakfast (middle eastern food!) So we ate well. Really friendly staff. Happy hour every evening with free wine and nibbles was such an amazing touch. Would certainly return and recommend.

The Schumacher hotel is conveniently located in the German Colony, and is a short walk away from some fabulous restaurants. Also, close enough to walk to the Baha’i Gardens if you dare to take that venture. In the morning they provide a small breakfast, with excellent self serve coffee, you can make espresso, latte, macchiato, cappuccino, basically anything you want! They also offer breakfast coupons to two nearby cafes. In the evenings they provide wine and snacks for happy hour.

When we were there, we were the only people utilizing the happy hour, so when they packed up, we were offered a bottle of wine! The service was wonderful, the room was large and spacious, and the air conditioner worked phenomenal! I highly recommend staying at this new hotel in Haifa.
