Spain has been recognised as one of the most culturally liberal and LGBTfriendly countries in the world and LGBT culture has had a significant role in Spanish literature, music, cinema and other forms of entertainment as well as social issues and politics.

Today, LGBT citizens have most of the same legal rights as non-LGBT citizens and the UK provides one of the highest degrees of liberty in the world for its LGBT communities, although the UK has recently fallen behind other counties in international rankings. In ILGA-Europe‘s 2015 review of LGBT rights, the UK received the highest score in Europe, with 86% progress toward “respect of human rights and full equality” for LGBT people and 92% in Scotland alone.

Ibiza has a long history of being a  gay friendly resort and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Mad Ibiza or Bar Monalisa Ibiza are  the most famous gay place in Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

The cities of Madrid and Barcelona also have a reputation as two of the most LGBT-friendly cities in the world. Gran Canaria & Ibiza is also known worldwide as an LGBT tourist destination.

Ibiza is one of the Balearic islands, an archipelago of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s well known for the lively nightlife in Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni, where major European nightclubs have summer outposts. It’s also home to quiet villages, yoga retreats and beaches, from Platja d’en Bossa, lined with hotels, bars and shops, to quieter sandy coves backed by pine-clad hills found all around the coast.

Video Review of The Purple Hotel – Gay Special

The Purple Hotel – Gay Only is within walking distance of the harbour with its seafront promenade, only 1,300 feet away, and the West End with all its shops and nightlife.

In lively San Antonio, this laid-back hotel catering to LGBT guests is a 7-minute walk from nightlife on the waterfront Sunset Strip and an 18-minute walk from the Aquarium Cap Blanc.

Streamlined, colorful rooms feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and safes; some add balconies or terraces. Airy suites have separate sitting areas.

Parking is complimentary. An outdoor pool is set on a terrace with sun loungers. There’s also an informal restaurant and a poolside bar. Breakfast is available for a surcharge.

Why You Should Book The Purple Hotel – Gay Special

Hotel opens its doors to reveal Ibiza’s gay scene in its purest form.

Gay adults only hotel in the centre of San Antonio, where exquisite service and contemporary elegance of the facilities transform any stay into a unique experience. Live unforgettable moments in an LGBT heavenly environment.

Lit up by the magical Mediterranean light, The Purple Hotel opens its doors to reveal Ibiza’s gay scene in its purest form.

We stayed here as a (gay) couple for 6 days, and couldn’t have been happier to have found this hotel – it really couldn’t have been more perfect.

The hotel is situated in the heart of San Antonio, 3 minutes walk to the West End, 5 minutes to Cafe Mambo, 5 minutes to the sea front and 10 minutes to the main bus stop.

It is cleanly and modernly decorated, with a lovely pool area, indoor and outdoor dining and well stocked bar.

The rooms are large with huge bed, walk-in showers and large-ish balconies (we chose a pool view). The towels were changed daily, and had the added bonus of provided beach AND pool towels – such a luxury!

This is a small (3-story) boutique hotel geared for gay and lesbian travellers. It is in a surprisingly quiet area of Sant Antoni.

The staff are all very friendly (and gorgeous :).

The manager is very attentive and is committed to running an excellent hotel … he seemed to work 12 hour days!

Overall this was as nice as any hotel I’ve stayed in. The pool was so relaxing that there were many days I was tempted to just stay put at the hotel pool instead of hitting the beach!

I will definitely be back!

The good (pretty much everything!):
– Very clean, well furnished rooms and common areas.

– Excellent pool with bar
– Excellent food and drinks (also very reasonably priced!)

– Rooms had blackout curtains (but why sleep in?)

– Wifi throughout … so you can cruise Grindr while sitting at the pool!
– Private parking (note: public parking in Sant Antoni is a nightmare!)
– You can borrow beach umbrellas from the front desk

As a gay couple, we felt very welcomed and comfortable with the surroundings.

Certainly would come here again and I strongly advise anyone else to book here!!

The only thing is a bit confusing is some agents like travel republic advertise as gay only when it’s not.

It’s for LGBT community and friends. There were many non LGBT residents. Maybe in high season there will be more of a gay population in the hotel.

I genuinely cannot believe this is a 3* gay friendly hotel. I travel the world with my work and can confidently say I have never been more impressed with a hotel than this.

The food and drinks are lovingly prepared and incredibly reasonably priced; they genuinely care about what they serve you.

The rooms, public areas and pool are spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The sun beds are comfortable, the parasols are great and the high wall makes this a sun-worshippers dream!

The pool is not heated but that is actually incredibly welcome and provides sweet relief from the baking heat.

Parking in this area is a nightmare so the free hotel car park is a blessing.

We had a pool-view room and would heartily recommend.

Spacious enough, comfortable and sitting on your balcony with a drink overlooking the beautiful pool area with some nice background music is truly special.

Previous experience in Spanish resorts is that you often sleep on a slab of concrete disguised as a mattress; not so here!

The beds are large and comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets.

There is also aircon but the rooms are nice and cool even without it.

Lots of lighting options for ambience and plenty of hanging wardrobe space and shelving.

Breakfast is served from a very reasonable 9am al the way through to a proper clubbers 1pm so you can wake up and eat.

Or come back from a long nights clubbing and Eat (Sleep, Rave, Repeat) as someone once said 😉

Although this is advertised as Gay only, they are very welcoming of non Gay couples.

Why You Should NOT Book The Purple Hotel – Gay Special

This hotel is not welcoming, safe or friendly. Flying the rainbow flags and offering a gay friendly environment is misleading.

Customers in the bar are segregated into guests and non guest. The non guests are not permitted to smoke outside the door in the courtyard, as this area is reserved (despite being empty).

Instead you are told to leave the building, and stand in the street with giant rainbow flags flying over your head.

Groups of drunk passers by took great delight in shouting jokes and insults as they walked past, this is the first homphobic abuse I have experienced this since the 90’s.

This could have been a traumatic experience for someone more vulnerable. I was made a deliberate target in the street by the management policy of segregation.

I would have been more welcome and safer in any other pub in San Antonio.

The spa includes a hot tub, hammam and sauna. A massage service is also available for an extra charge.

There is a restaurant and café with a chill out terrace and a poolside bar.

The complex also has direct beach access and a beach club with a restaurant and bar service, and sun beds for rent.

Why You Should Book AxelBeach Ibiza Suites Apartments Spa and Beach Club – Adults Only

Set on a beach along the Balearic Sea, this lively adults-only hotel catering to gay men is a 13-minute walk from Ocean Beach Ibiza, a renowned club, and 18 km from Ibiza Airport.

Sleek 1- and 2-bedroom apartments feature kitchens, living rooms and balconies, as well as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars and sofabeds. All offer sea views.

Amenities include a trendy Japanese/Peruvian fusion restaurant, a buzzy outdoor poolside bar, and a contemporary glass-enclosed spa and gym.

A private area of the beach offers sun loungers and a cafe/bar.

The new AxelBeach Ibiza is located right on the beach, a unique landscape in Sant Antonio bay.
Its trendy and exclusive interior design makes our modern apartments exclusive and stylish, which have private suite, living room, private terrace and totally equipped kitchen.

Booked the one bedroom with sea view totally worth it. The staff are very friendly and the pool is right in front of the beach.

The apartment itself is large and the bed very comfortable. We would return to this place for sure.

Small minor defect is the cleaning is not top notch hence the 4 stars I gave.

Also I saw lots of comments especially in French saying it’s not a 100% gay hotel!

That’s absurd…it’s gay friendly yes but the hotel welcomes everybody regardless of their sexual orientation.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are travelling to Ibiza.

The hotel is advertised as a gay hotel but hetero-friendly however it was just a normal hotel with fab hospitality.

The room/apartment was big and very clean on arrival, bed and bedding very comfortable and views amazing, we didn’t hear much noise even when we saw a small party on balcony next door one night.

There was a wide variety of people staying at the hotel in age ranges, body shapes, gay & hetero, singles.

The Axel Beach Hotel is in a good location of San Antonio, a good distance away from the party side of the area (although, this is still accessible with 20 minute walk).

The apartment itself is large, with two balconies, a separate living room and kitchen.

The breakfast was nice, although, it could have done with a few more hot options.

The staff at the hotel were all nice and friendly, always happy to help out where needed.

Although Axels Hotels are usually known to be gay hotels, this one was very gay-friendly.

The hotel is modern and nicely equipped with very comfortable beds. The décor is modern and quite minimal.

The rooms have element of self catering options with fridge, microwave, coffee machine, plates/cups/cutlery etc but come without any additional “extras” such as tea towel, washing up liquid or even replacement coffee pods (you can purchase more….)

Those with view over the sea will have superb balcony with views also over the pool area.

Access to the beach, which has clear waters and is shallow enough to walk out safely quite some distance is via the pool area.

The hotel is branded as “gay-friendly” in Palma de Mallorca.

The hotel has a gym area, jacuzzi, sauna, and redress area for your spa needs.

Massage therapist was on duty if you wanted to get a massage.

Our room was so awesome. It was clean and had plenty of doors and windows to open. The view from our room was breathtaking.

The balcony was huge. The room had a full kitchen and it was very spacious. This hotel was also reasonable price wise.

The best part about this hotel was the staff.

They were the nicest and they are valuable because when we thought our trip was about to go left they save the day. This stay was great.

The vibe around the swimming pool was amazing with house music playing all day.

The cocktails served at the bar were great. Before leaving on our last day, Alex confirmed our pick-up time for transfer to the airport. I would say this is a great stay for gay, straight, young and older couples or friends.

Thanks Axel, a truly gay friendly hotel in Ibiza!

Why You Should Not Book AxelBeach Ibiza Suites Apartments Spa and Beach Club – Adults Only

The main issue has been the noise by other clients of the establishment which prevented us to sleep two out of three nights.

A big party in the same room downstairs with a group of boys and girls screaming and singing out loud with music out of a speaker on the balcony. Security was called several times but they did not manage to stop the party.

We were told by the reception that an aggression to the security staff happened in the same hotel by another group of guests few nights before hence security did not intervene.

The party continued during the day. I have photos and videos which I will provide to review sites such as booking.com and tripadvisor.

The reception staff, while acknowledging the issue did not provide sufficient compensation to the issue, crediting back only 30 euros over a stay of 650 after several requests. This did not settle the issue at all.

They seemed resigned to this kind of clientele in the hotel. Overall we found the clientele not in line the high standards of the Axel chain we are used to in Barcelona and Madrid

Video Review of THB Los Molinos Adults Only

All of the rooms and public areas at THB Los Molinos are covered by free WiFi access. There is also a business center with wired internet.

The property also offers banquet facilities.

Overlooking a Balearic Sea beach, his modern adults-only hotel is 2 km from Ibiza Cathedral and 3 km from Space nightclub.

Bright, contemporary rooms feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs; some add private patios or balconies.

There are lush gardens, plus an outdoor pool with a bar and a hot tub. Other amenities include a spa featuring an indoor pool, sauna and fitness area.

The THB Los Molinos Hotel, open throughout the year, boasts a prime seafront location in the heart of Ibiza Town, the island’s capital.
It is the ideal holiday destination for couples or friends. One of the most attractive features of this hotel is its central location, combined with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel stands 400 metres from Figueretas beach. In addition, the pool area leads directly onto to a small sandy beach nestling just below the hotel, which also forms part of Figueretas beach.
The hotel Reception is open to guests 24 hours a day.
The THB Los Molinos offers various room types, all with a WiFi connection and safe free of charge.
Facilities at the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool with magnificent sea views and free Bali beds.
The meal plans include a buffet-style breakfast and half board. Dinner service is à la carte. Wellness area, gym and Massages.
Why You Should Book THB Los Molinos Adults Only
It’s pretty mixed there, gays and lesbian couples as well as heteros.
It’s not a party hotel like others in Ibiza might be. During our stay there were mainly German/Dutch/Scandinavian couples and lots of male couples as the gay scene is Eivissa Town is quite big.
There were no lotus/stag do’s/crazy binge drinkers during our stay and the atmosphere was really lovely.
Early hours security is tight and he was very good at making sure I was quiet so as not to disturb the other guests.
Our room has obviously been refurbished as unlike the review just before this one, no shower curtain in sight!
Beautiful modern walk in shower type wetroom with rainfall style shower and another shower head too.
The room itself was comfortable – spacious bathroom, safe, TV, kettle and tea/coffee, fridge and a comfortable bed, pillows etc.
The room was cleaned daily and was always spotless after the clean.
The cleaning staff were friendly and smiley and happy – which is always pleasing. Antonia, my room service manager was very very nice and always smiling and friendly.
This was only for 2-4 mins you could hear this. The window could be opened – which was good as I prefer the window open. My room did not have a balcony.

The breakfast was plentiful and staff were again very friendly and helpful. The food options for breakfast were nice with both hot or cold. Fresh orange juice made each morning was the best.

The pool and the property itself are right on the water’s edge. The pool is a nice pool – not small, not big.

The sun beds are comfy and there were plenty of towels. There is a heated indoor pool (small), spa and a sauna – which I used when it was a bit cold outside. The lawn and the garden was refreshing too.

The location of the hotel is right on the waters edge which means a 12-16 min walk to the restaurant area (you can walk up the stairs or you can walk around the hill – depending how you feel).

Walking around the hill adds extra 5 minutes to the walk but means no stairs.

There is a laundromat 7 mins from the hotel and there is a convenience shop opposite and there are 3-4 small restaurants right next to the hotel if you prefer not to walk.

All in all – I thoroughly enjoyed staying at THB Los Molinos – it was a great base for my stay in Ibiza for the week.

The staff (cleaning, reception, handyman and hospitality) were brilliant and always so helpful and smiley which is what I enjoyed the most.

Rooms were extremely clean, modern and airy – a/c wasn’t fantastic but that wouldn’t put me off. We stayed in a sea view room and slept every night with our doors open listening to the sea.
Breakfast was very good, and lots of choice.
Pool area is very well maintained with super comfy beds – we had no problem getting a bed and towels were supplied by the hotel.
Bar and food prices where very reasonable.
There is no beach here to speak of…. you have to walk round the bay a little to a small beach, the area has a more local feel to it and the promenade offers a really lovely selection of laid back restaurants and a cool Ibiza cocktail bar.
Ibiza town is literally a 10 min walk with a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants which line the area and all along the marina.
Why You Should NOT Book THB Los Molinos Adults Only
Small rooms just like an IBIS HOTEL. Paid for a sea view room, but the view was more a garden view with a little of sea, do not pay more for sea view, you will not get that.
Hairdryer was a joke! Bring yours! Also, it was full of hair. The pool is ok. An average hotel that cost 200 euros plus, not worth i

Video Review of AluaSoul Ibiza – Adults only

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnnBnUFwPRo

Across the street from a harbor on the Mediterranean Sea, this upmarket, adults-only hotel is less than a minute’s walk from the Playa de Es Canar and 27 km from Ibiza Airport.

Featuring private balconies, the modern, airy rooms have rainfall showers, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and mini fridges. Upgraded rooms add sea views.

Breakfast is complimentary. There’s a buffet eatery, and a restaurant with a terrace offering views of the sea. There are also lobby and open-air bars.

Other amenities consist of multiple outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a spa and a gym. Activities include yoga classes and evening entertainment.

Why You Should Book AluaSoul Ibiza – Adults only

Ibiza is an island where every single moment you have is magnified. For this we offer the perfect component: Hotel AluaSoul Ibiza, an adults-only hotel in Santa Eulalia, located on the beachfront of Es Canar, with stylish spaces and unique ambiance!
Hotel AluaSoul Ibiza has been specially created for those who seek a relaxing stay with their partner or a getaway with their friends.
This is because the resort boasts an array of services to help you discover the true essence of Ibiza, explore its hidden beaches and enjoy its never-ending nightlife.
Enjoy the pool with its lounge bar area, wellness zone, gym and à la carte & buffet restaurants with select cuisine.
The hotel also offers cocktails and drinks, Balinese beds, and all the plans, activities and offers you need to discover the most exclusive side of Ibiza.
After reading lots of reviews for different hotels we finally decided to come here for a bit of last minute sun and we were not disappointed.
It was our first ever all inclusive and here is a quick summary of things which we thought were important:

-Rooms and hotel were kept very clean
-Hotel is very modern and comfortable
Staff are great – table service by the pool, minimal wait at the bar, majority are very helpful

-Drinks menu is extensive, always snacks available too
-Pool is clean, has plenty of space and has just about enough sunbeds

-Food is okay. We are vegetarians and always found something to eat although it was a bit repetitive.

If you want to eat outside the hotel then there isn’t much choice unless you want to travel (buses and cabs avail from nearby).

Shoutout to Juan who cooked us fresh veggie pasta a few times.

The location of the hotel is okay. The beaches are not the best and it’s about 2 hrs with 2 busses or a €40 taxi to get to San Antonio which is a bit annoying but again if you just want to chill like us then that’s fine.

We are gay couple and had no problems at all.

If you want a hassle free, relaxing horizontal time in the sun away from noisey kids then this hotel is the one.

The room is a nice size and clean. TV with British channels if you need them.
A balcony with 2 chairs and a table. No drying rack for towels/bikinis though. Fridge/safe all included. The weird thing is there is no separate bathroom, it’s in the room.
The shower and toilet are like little pods but the glass is frosted so you can see movement etc and there are gaps above the doors. Not very private for going to the toilet!

The hotel is modern and clean, attention to detail is amazing. The rooms are spacious and very well kept by the room staff, very friendly and helpful.

A bottle of water every day, saves a lot of hassle buying it. There are gowns and slippers, a kettle and perfect wi fi in rooms.

The food is of a very high standard, always hot, unlike most hotels, so much variety, also hard working and cheerful catering staff.

Why You Should NOT Book AluaSoul Ibiza – Adults only

We are currently here and our experience so far has been disappointing.

Check in was awful, not told anything about the hotel, wrist bands were not activated so we couldn’t get in the room, room was apparently ready but cleaning stuff was left in there and we had to ask reception to move it.

Haven’t had any bottled water since the first day despite being all inclusive and water should be replaced daily, have had to go out and buy it

Went to dinner on the second night and got turned away as it wasn’t ‘our time’ had no idea what ‘our time’ was, when we asked reception they realised they hadn’t given us a card for ‘our time’ however this means absolutely nothing as we turned up for dinner this evening in our slot to be rudely told the restaurant was full so we would have to come back, we ended up going out to eat.

Rooms have a strange toilet/shower thing going on, no privacy whatsoever, may as well not have a toilet door for all the privacy it gives you.

The hotel offers a concierge and a rooftop terrace, to make your visit even more pleasant.

The property also features a pool and a poolside bar. Guests arriving by vehicle have access to free parking.

If you’re looking for a pub, consider a visit to Freddy & julies english bar, Soul Good, or Queen Victoria Pub, which are all conveniently located a short distance from ME Ibiza.

That’s a special place where you’re treated best.

Amazing pools on the ground floor and on the rooftop, warm and friendly service and, importantly, a great crowd with beautiful people!

The beach with warm water is 2 steps from here and is next to Nikki Beach. The rooms have a nice minimalist design in all white colours.

Nice house music in the pool area. Delicious paella with fresh fish. Perfect if you want to have a relaxed but also joyful time in Ibiza.

It’s our first time and we’re happy about it! All our hotel is a VIP area, they said at check-in, and it seems to be true.

Pros:
-Service is great, definitely 5 star. Great staff per guest ratio.

Friendly and people who seemed generally happy to be working there. Best service we had in Spain!

Breakfast is delicious. An added plus was the complimentary champagne.
-Food at the Italian restaurant was also delicious in a lovely setting.
-Wonderful views and a great (not too crowded) pool.

Fantastic location next to Nikki Beach and other bars/restaurants, but also chill enough to relax (not too intense or crowded with party goers).

This hotel was worth every penny and the Aesthetics done to the food and service surpassed my expectation.

Only downside is that they didn’t have ironing boards, took an item to iron and tried to charge us!

They took this after our final bill as we argued we are more than happy to iron and it’s not our problem you run out.

The interior decor is beautiful with the hotel having a relaxed calm about it.

As my first trip to Ibiza I was wondering if it was all “party” “party” but this was nothing of the sort.

We had a party at Radio Rooftop bar which was outstanding. Such lovely views.

The breakfast was decent with the highlight being that they serve complimentary Veuve Clique champagne there.

Two glasses alone is £50 so it’s well worth it. On arrival we were also given Cava and the lovely man checking us in was so helpful.

The rules around the pool as that if someone is away from their bed for 30 mins they take the towel to allow for someone else.

I love this system and thing it makes things fair.

Also you can go to Nikki Beach complimentary during your stay, I understand that you get priority on a bed there so go early.

I would return with friends and live the atmosphere of this hotel, classy and Sophie.

Thanks to you the team for making our stay lovely.

Why You Should NOT Book ME Ibiza

This is not a 5 star hotel, the location is the only good thing about it. I’m well travelled and have stopped in 5 star hotels all over the world and this is the worst, the service is awful and the staff are very rude.

I would avoid at all costs and recommend spending your money elsewhere.

The food is average at best, when you order a drink it can take an hour to arrive if it does at all.

There seems to be no management at the hotel and the staff do as they please.

Safe to say I will not be re visiting the Me Ibiza
