Generally speaking, well known hotels &  resorts in the Koh Lanta are welcoming towards all LGBTQ couples and most of the 4 & 5* hotels are gay friendly hotels Koh Lanta.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Thailand may face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents.Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Thailand, but same-sex couples and households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples. 1. Layana Resort & Spa – Adults Only 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Koh Lanta

Layana Resort & Spa
Layana Resort & Spa

Surrounded by tropical greenery, the adult-only Layana Resort & Spa is located in Koh Lanta and overlooks the beautiful sea. It offers an outdoor infinity pool and rooms with free WiFi. Guests can directly access Long Beach from the resort.

Situated within Mu Koh Lanta National Park, Layana Resort is located on a white, sandy beach. Krabi Airport is a 2-hour drive, or 70 km, from the resort. A chargeable airport transfer is available upon request.

Rooms at Layana Resort feature modern Thai architecture and are decorated with silk and hardwood furnishings. Each is equipped with satellite TV, DVD player and daybed. En suite bathrooms have separate shower and bathtub facilities.

he Layana Resort & Spa is an Adults only Resort (+18 years) nestled on Koh Lanta Yai Island in Mu Koh Lanta National Park. The park is a marine archipelago, home to verdant tropical rainforests and undersea kingdoms of colourful coral rich in natural marine diversity. The resort enjoys a spectacular beachfront location on a 3-kilometer long white sand beach, situated about 2 hours south of Krabi International Airport. Environmentally-conscious design throughout the property results in a simple and elegant Thai atmosphere; alfresco architecture combining with contemporary design to provide an open, cool and natural feel.

Hotel was very clean. Bathrooms are excellent with good quality bath products. Beds are very comfortable.

The hotel has amazing facilities and great restaurant that was worth to visit. Beautiful views and wonderful food and drinks. Lots of activities to do during we stayed in the hotel such as biking, swimming, boxing and spa. It was great to have trainers helping at the gym and swimming pool for each activity.

It was great services than we expected. It showed that 5 stars hotel welcome not only foreigners, but also Thai people with s great hospitality.

From the arrival by speedboat onto the beach ,to the amazing send off when it is time to go, it’s the staff who really stand out in this Adult only resort. From the friendly gardeners who always greet you with a smile and a “sawasdee” to top management. Nothing is to much trouble and will go out of their way to help. We recognise the same staff year after year and they are The hotels biggest asset.

The location is perfect. Situated in the middle of Long Beach. Cleaned daily by the staff and some lovely beach restaurants and bars a short walk either way.
The main town of Saladan is just a short Tuk Tuk ride away. It is all very safe and you are never hassled by the very laid back shop owners and stalls.

Layana has its own speedboat for trips and are all worth experiencing. Our favourite is Koh Roc. The staff always find a nice deserted beach to have lunch and find the best snorkelling spots.
Another boat trip not to be missed is the famous”Sundowner cruise”. Gliding peacefully through the mangroves with a glass of sparkling wine and nibbles, watching the monkeys and wildlife at sunset and making new friends.

We usually hire a scooter from the hotel to explore the island. Easily done in a day. Lanta old town is definitely worth a visit. So are the many deserted beaches along the coastal road.

It is about a 90 minute trip from Krabi Airport including a ferry service which can be quick (mid week) or very slow at weekends, but that is part of the charm of the hotel’s location. During the high season the hotel ensures you avoid the ferry by meeting you and delivering you by speed boat to and from the beach.
It is an adults only resort which means peace and tranquility in all the public areas and more especially the pools, bars and restaurant.

There are daily activities and excursions although in truth we were happy to just relax.
Fishing, island hopping, sunset cruises, cycling, yoga, swimming in the two fabulous pools and a host of other activities including one of the best spas in this part of the world gives you many options if you are of an active disposition.

We stayed in a deluxe garden view room and the rooms are really spacious and kept spotless with daily cleaning and an evening turndown service. We were even asked what time we’d like turndown to give us the the least disruption. Every night we came back to a lovely presented room with a small sweet treat each.

The grounds and pool area are still kept spotlessly clean too and everyone you pass greets you with a smile and a ‘sawasdee’. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool and on the beach too, so absolutely no need to go out to reserve sunbeds. The pool staff bring you fresh iced water every so often too and there’s normally an afternoon treat. (The ice creams were lovely!!).

The bar area and restaurant are also immaculately kept and again the staff are always ready to serve, but without being intrusive. Breakfast is held in the restaurant and the choice and quality of food on offer is superb. It’s nice to mix it up as breakfasts can get repetitive in hotels. That never happened to us though. Lunch and evening meals were also of very high quality and there are 2 happy hours in the bar. I recommend sitting and watching the sunset during happy hour. Beautiful! There are also some very good restaurants and bars on Long Beach so if you fancy lunch or dinner away from the hotel you have the option. Our favourites were Thai Cat and The Fat Turtle.

If you fancy a trip or need a taxi or tuk-tuk ordering the hotel will happily arrange this for you. We did a couple of boat trips with the hotel which we enjoyed thoroughly and met some great new friends on them. The trips we did were the Sundowner cruise and the 4 islands trips.

This is definitely the best hotel we visited in Thailand. We came here for 3 nights and didn’t want to leave! Everything was perfect – the room is beautiful, huge, well equipped with everything you need. An amazing view, the bathroom has a shower and a bath! The pools are amazing and the private beach of the hotel as well. The service is wonderful – all the staff members are kind and friendly.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The staff is phenomenally friendly and helpful.

It started with the great transportation from the Krabi airport. So glad we booked through the hotel – it was seamless and we had barely any waiting time. After a long day of travel, we were greeted by Praew. She allowed us to sit and drink tea while she checked us in. We felt so fancy! She then gave us a tour of the grounds and escorted us to our room. Our room was beautiful with a lovely view of greenery outside.

We enjoyed so many of the amenities. TonHom at the activity desk was so nice and helpful. The sunset yoga with Thip was awesome! My husband did a private Muay Thai class with Fad – Fad was an awesome teacher and my husband got a great workout! The drinks at the pool bar were awesome.

The spa was running a special so I booked a massage and it was fantastic, thank you Sao and Becky! The spa is just beautiful and you feel so pampered. Just a short walk from my room, couldn’t have been easier.

The breakfast included in our stay was delicious. Thai options as well as more western foods that rotated daily … always tons of baked foods and fruits, juices, smoothies, etc. Lunches by the pool were very good and we enjoyed their happy hour specials.

For dinners we wandered off the resort a couple times. In either direction there are little beach restaurants you can visit. You can walk out the front of the hotel and walk down the street in either direction (but there are no sidewalks, taking a tuk tuk is a better idea). The hotel will call you a cab (we paid 200 baht to get to Three Sisters Restaurant, for example), or you can walk out the hotel and their are tuk tuks waiting. You can learn about the best restaurants via google reviews. Our favorite was Shanti Shanti, wonderful food and you can’t beat their view. You can also maybe access some restaurants by walking down the beach but it’s not a sure thing as there are some rocky spots you can’t pass. We love being able to enjoy a beautiful resort and then also the ability to enjoy local places, so this was the right hotel for us.

Overall, a beautiful place with wonderful people, food and service. We highly recommend Rawi Warin and can’t wait to visit again.

3. Crown Lanta Resort & Spa 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Koh Lanta

Crown Lanta Resort & Spa
Crown Lanta Resort & Spa

Crown Lanta Resort & Spa offers a private beach, luxury accommodation, and extensive services. It is ideally situated on an elevated peninsula in Ko Lanta, offering views of Andaman Sea. Free WiFi access is available.

Designed in modern Thai style with amazing sea views, rooms are clean, spacious and feature pool access or views. All rooms include full bathroom amenities, complimentary coffee/tea making facilities, and a fridge.

Some facilities at Crown Lanta include restaurants and a bar, free mountain bikes, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and a gym.

We invite you to experience the privacy and natural setting of our 4.5 star boutique resort. With our property stretching across 22 hectares of park-like land it boasts gentle hills alongside steep cliffs overlooking the sea, an intimate and private white sand beach, as well as access to the famous 3km long Klong Dao Beach. Throughout our 83 generously-sized rooms and villas you’ll get the feeling of Thai contemporary architecture meets gracious Thai hospitality.

Relax beside one of our two resort pools, enjoy the tastes of Thailand at our on-site restaurants, and be pampered at our rejuvenating Infinity Spa. In the evenings, sit seaside at our Reggae Bar and enjoy a cocktail while experiencing one of the best shows on the island – the sunset. The island of Lanta is still regarded as a green paradise where you will find splendid scenery such as rugged tree-covered hills, mangroves, and nine white sandy beaches. Our resort is ideally located, giving you the privacy of paradise, while also offering access to all the sights and sounds Koh Lanta has to offer. Crown Lanta has created lasting and vivid memories for guests worldwide, let us have a place in your heart as well.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by jungle, including two pools – both big, clean and with enough spaces to relax quietly -, a bar with amazing sunset view and a private beach. The breakfast was very good, with a large choice of mainly fresh products and offers a beautiful sea view. There is a restaurant where you can eat and some specific dinners are organized (barbecue, Asian, etc). We had a Garden View room, which was just fine – big, clean, well equipped and a huge terrace.

The staff is friendly and the hotel is very close to another beach and Saladan (free shuttle and if outside time schedule, 50 THB by tuk tuk). The restaurant and the bars are a bit expensive but you can also go easily outside for dinner (Saladan food market). Koh Lanta is an amazing island and this hotel contributed to the great experience we had there

The pool access rooms are well worth booking. They provide a more luxurious experience for your stay. The pool connected to our room was 1.35m deep. The main pool on the resort is also pleasant. Happy hour at the swim-up bar is 4.30pm-6pm.

WiFi was available on the resort, but intermittent. You will want mobile data for a reliable connection.

ROOM: The villa was clean and spacious. A bit worn in some places but overall very nice. Having your own pool is a huge plus and it was bigger than we expected it would be. We spent more time in our private pool than the others around the resort. Note: there are lizards around the property and we had one living in our villa. They didn’t bother us but eventually we called the Front Desk and they had someone remove him. There were one or two mosquitos in the room throughout our stay but overall there weren’t many mosquitos on the property. The AC was always running while we were in the room, however it never felt like the room would get cold. It stayed cool but it didn’t seem like it ever reached our desired temperature.

FOOD: Breakfast was good and it was included with our room. They had a mixture of Western and Asian dishes. You could also see the beach and the sea from the restaurant. Lunch and Dinner was overpriced for the quality of food. We ate at the resort 4-5 times either at the restaurant or room service delivered to the room. The quality was the equivalent of ‘pool food’ but priced a lot higher. There was better food down the road from the resort for a fraction of the price.

LOCATION: The resort is isolated on a peninsula. Whenever we wanted to get food or go to the store, we needed a tuk-tuk to drive us into town – otherwise it was a 20-30+ minute walk. The resort does provide a free shuttle into town but only ran a few times per day. There is a walkway by The Cliff restaurant which leads down to the beach and was easily accessible.

SERVICE: All of the staff we interacted with were great and very helpful despite the language barrier. 10/10.

OTHER: Multiple pools through the resort. We liked our spa experience. The resort has large hills but they have a shuttle running throughout the resort.

We really liked the resort, especially our Pool Villa. It was one of the best rooms we’ve ever had. We’d return and would stay in a Pool Villa again.
