Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi

Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Krabi Thailand

Generally speaking, well known hotels &  resorts in the Krabi are welcoming towards all LGBTQ couples and most of the 4 & 5* hotels are gay friendly hotels Krabi.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Thailand may face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents.Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Thailand, but same-sex couples and households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples. About eight percent of the Thai population, five million people, are thought to be in the LGBT demographic.

Beaches over developed and expensive. Railay Beach East and West are particularly expensive and for some tastes too built up . Ao Nang is a bit like that too. … Krabi sure is worth a trip, check out Tezza’s beaches as recommended above to get an idea about the beaches, you have to get out of Krabi town

1. Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Krabi

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi
Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi

Located on the private Pai Plong Bay, Centara Grand Beach houses beachfront dining options, 2 outdoor pools and a spa. Its rooms offer a private balcony with garden or ocean views.

Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Krabi provides a free speed boat shuttle to Nopparatthara Pier. Krabi International Airport is a 40-minute drive away. Airport transfers can be arranged at an additional charge.

Rooms at Grand Centara are decorated with modern Thai furnishings. Equipped with a lounge area, each room also comes with cable TV, a safe and a minibar. Some rooms offer an outdoor spa bath.

Hidden away in secluded Pai Plong Bay and a luxuriant national park, this beachfront resort is a tropical paradise. The resort features generously-sized rooms and private villas (72-399 sqm.) with the option of garden or ocean views, an outdoor Jacuzzi, or a plunge pool. Designed in modern Thai style, with high ceilings, wooden accents, stone features and soothing colours, the rooms and villas are calm oases. Accessible by boat only, the resort offers an abundance of opportunities to relax and explore: a spa, Thai, Japanese, and International restaurants, water sports (kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding), 2 swimming pools, 2 kids clubs. The experts at the resort’s PADI dive centre provide everything that is needed for beginners, those with medium skills, and expert divers. Krabi International Airport is 40 minutes away from Nopparatthara pier which is approximately 15 minutes from the resort by boat

It is only accessible with a boat and is totally secluded from the rest of the world, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs that prohibit land access. It turned out to be an extraordinary experience.

We stayed in one of the villas by the beach, which was probably 100 sqm and had everything one could wish for in terms of stylish design, fabrics, furniture and amenities. It turned out to be the best accomodation we have ever had in Thailand, even better than nearby Rayavadee, which is one of my wife’s favourites. The whole resort in a pristine condition and has all the right ingredients for a perfect beach holiday without the masses. Eateries are OK and the resort provides boat shuttles to nearby city Ao Nang, which is filled with bars and restaurants. Staff, from reception to cleaners were personal, friendly yet professional. If you want to really get away from it all and so so in a fantastic place, look no further than Centara Grand Krabi.

The grounds were beautifully maintained. Our room had the most beautiful view & were cleaned & restocked daily then bed turned down & blinds closed at night.
The food at all restaurants was delicious with an extensive selection for breakfast. However, the teppanyaki was very expensive & worth the money spent.

Lovely exclusive spot only accessible by boat, super quiet as night.

The hotel has many positives. Great location only accessible by boat, apart from the pedestrian only Monkey Trail over to Ao Nang Beach (15 minute reasonably strenuous walk). The boat only takes 15 minutes from the pier so an easy journey. To get into the restaurants, bars in Ao Nang you will need to take a Tuk Tuk from the pier following the boat ride, however we always went over the Monkey Trail which is reasonably well lit at night.

Breakfasts were always the same, both western and Asian, which some people have complained about, there was still a large choice, so you did not have to have the same each day.

Hotel nice, accessible only by boat and he pier is not static so it’s not for the elderly or very young- you have to be able to navigate the floating pier which is quite wobbly.

You can reserve a boat if you want to head across to the town but make sure it’s reserved and for coming back or they will be full!

There is a ‘monkey trail’ which you can walk to the town but it is a few steep wooden steps up and then a flat walk to steep steps down again. We managed it with two children aged 11 and 9 without any issues. We say a troupe of monkeys on the trail which was nice.

Food in the hotel, like all the other hotels we have stayed in was expensive. You then add on 10% service charge and then another 7% government tax on top of that. Makes it an unrealistic price for what it is, especially as you can get good food for a fraction of the cost not too far away.

Lovely breakfast with large choice of food from various cultures, best part of the hotel!

Nice rooms, we had a room with a jacuzzi on the balcony and also a sitting area with sun beds.

2.BlueSotel SMART Krabi Aonang Beach 4* – LGBT Friendly Resort Krabi

Among the facilities at this property are a 24-hour front desk and room service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Guests can have a drink at the bar.

Guests at the hotel can enjoy a buffet breakfast.

BlueSotel SMART Krabi Aonang Beach – Adults only offers a sun terrace.

Escape to BlueSotel SMART adults only resort in Aonang, where modern design and contemporary luxury set the stage for exclusive experiences. Only 200-meters from the beach, overlooking the limestone mountains and Andaman Sea. The unique vibe at BlueSotel SMART is revolutionising the Krabi hotel scene. The hotel state-of-the-art rooms and suites at BlueSotel SMART have our signature mellow decor, mood lighting and plenty of space to relax. This stylish Krabi hotel is as romantic as it is relaxing.

Great location. Quiet area and just a short walk to the beach and main street with restaurants, bars and all kind of stores.

We mainly chose this hotel for the rooftop pool and bar and it delivered as expected. Sunbeds in the pool, drinks and food available. Pricing a little bit higher than we are used to in Thailand though. The only thing we missed was umbrellas, but understand it can be challenging to have on top here.

We had a deluxe pool access room towards the back pool and that was very nice. No bar to swim out to, but not so many people that can look into your room either.

The pool areas are very good – though the drinks are a little on the expensive side. Happy Hour is ‘three for the price of two’ – not so good for a couple!

The hotel is well positioned, being away from the main action (and noise) of the town yet within easy walking distance. It’s also close to the beach and some good restaurants.
There is an air of calmness about the hotel. We felt everyone was keen to ensure our stay was comfortable. Everyone was friendly. We attended a management cocktail party on our last evening. It was good to have the opportunity to chat informally with members of staff. The quiz was good fun.

The hotel is situated 100 mts about from the beach. how ever the road was being done whilst we were there, not causing to much trouble.Rooms in the hotel was awesome as i said brand new.We visited the two pools on the roof top which was again awesome.

The location is a very short walk to the beautiful beach & all the action in Au Nang. It boasts a breathtaking rooftop infinity pool with a live DJ & stunning views of the ocean (the craft beer prices at the bar are a little high in my opinion about $300baht per beer). The rooms are extremely comfortable with modern decor & they provide a beautiful new gym for your convenience. We left the resort after 7 nights with incredible lifelong memories. I highly recommend this resort for any adults & gay couples looking for a first class run resort in an ideal location.

The lobby exudes style. The staff are unfailingly helpful and polite. Our room was nice and big, with a lovely, comfortable bed. Bathroom also lovely with a big shower with decent pressure and heat.

AC worked well and quietly and also overhead fans for that colonial feel. We had a small balcony with a lovely sea and golf course view but the furniture on it was a bit formal and stiff, upright wooden chairs and no cushions, when it should have been some sort of lounger.

Breakfast was outstanding. Probably the most complete option I’ve ever experienced. Everything you could think of was there, and some things you wouldn’t (ice-cream anyone?). They even managed (more or less) to provide decaf coffee, although this was a daily struggle.

The pool is fabulous. They talk of it being the biggest in Thailand but fail to mention a big chunk of it is cordoned off for privileged rooms. However, it’s still a huge pool and I like the way the adults area is part of the whole. Water polo, volleyball and paddle boarding, along with scuba training and various other bits mean you’ve got plenty to entertain yourself with, along with plain old splashing about. Loungers were occasionally difficult to source and often in sunshine, but minor complaints. Yes, there is a road just outside, but it’s hardly a highway and traffic is light and unobtrusive. Oh and it’s all that separates you from the beach and sea.

There is a golf course on site but from what I could see of it, it’s really nothing more than a pitch and putt. If you’re wanting proper golf, you’ll have to go elsewhere. 700bht for 9 holes (1000 to go round twice) but another 700 to hire clubs. A more reasonable combined green fee and hire would no doubt see more people using it. As it was, I hardly saw a soul playing.

The colonial style low profile resort offers a welcome retreat from the crowds of larger cities. Set among lush tropical gardens, it has a great location with the beach right across the road. The large lagoon style pool (said to be the largest in all of Thailand) snakes around the resort and most rooms have a pool view.

The hotel offers many restaurants featuring a wide variety of cuisines. The White Lotus restaurant offers Indian and Thai cuisine while the Maya restaurant features an excellent international buffet breakfast. The explorer bar offers a wide variety of snacks and drinks in a relaxed setting while the Venezia features Italian cuisine. The swim-up pool bar offers a variety of snacks and drinks. Club Millesime is a great way to relax after a hard day exploring the many nearby attractions.

Rooms are large and mine featured a separate seating and work area along with the bed. Bathrooms are also large and have separate shower and bath areas. My room also had a small balcony overlooking the pool.

The hotels offers exclusive trips (limited to hotel guests) to the nearby islands which provide an excellent opportunity to explore the area. There is a free shuttle to and from the town several times a day if you would like to explore on your own. And if you love golf, the hotel has its own golf course as well. Needless to say staff is friendly and service is excellent.

The hotel is a great place to relax and unwind away from the rush and crowds.

The rooms here are equipped with an air conditioning and come with a flat screen TV. Selected units are fitted with a spacious seating area. The en suite bathroom includes a bathtub, bathrobes and premium amenities.

Escape to the luxury and seclusion sanctuary of The Shellsea Krabi ( SHA certified) for an unforgettable beach vacation, The ShellSea is well-positioned on Fossil Shell Beach, in Ao Nam Mao, Ban Lampho district. Situated 25 km from Krabi International Airport, 15 km from the city center and 8 km from Aonang Beach, the tourist ‘s must-see destinations. Our Krabi’s luxury boutique resort village life and private setting discloses itself in the unforgettable experience.

An abundance of activities; cycling or kayaking are available for you to explore the geological site of Fossil Shell Beach or the village life around resort. Either simply spend a healthy day poolside or in the fitness centre, you can stay active during vacation. Located in an idyllic setting of Fossil Shell Beach, relaxing by strolling along the beach is recommended. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the delightful days at Aonang Beach, just 10 mins away from the resort by car.

The rooms were spacious, clean and modern. All outside areas very well maintained and set in a beautiful location with it’s own private beach. Superb to be able to borrow kayaks (and sups which we did not try). Staff was very very friendly and breakfast high quality and versatile. I had eggs off the eggstation with lots of fresh fruits every morning and my daughter enjoyed the bread and cheese selection. The free bus shuttle to Ao Nang was much appreciated and we used it on most days to go to the center for dinner. We used the family pool for hours every day and enjoyed it. The pool is spacious and water is clean. The gym was fairly small but not crowded so worked well.

Now having said that, what could still be improved; as in most five stars hotels the food at the hotel restaurants is very expensive. As you can get a great, good quality meal really affordably almost anywhere in Thailand it is a shame that hotels price themselves out like this. As there are really no places nearby (except God Le which I really can not recommend) we had most lunches at the hotel but dinners outside even if we would have preferred to stay back. And even if the food at the pool bar was good, 12 euros for a salad is tough. Even in Europe. Also, it would have been great to have some Thai food on the pool bar menu as well, not only European. The room AC was tuned to 25 degrees which was still quite hot and when turned down was quite noisy. Most of the staff spoke english well but some had issues, would be great to ensure that front desk staff are fluent in english.

This hotel has class in abundance. Beautifully decorated and spacious bedrooms. Exceptionally attentive staff. Two wonderful pools with plenty of sun beds. Stunning views out to sea from the Pools and the Pool Bar and it’s own private beach – and always an opportunity to lay in the hammock and drift off. The only negative is that the food and drinks were quite expensive – but the hotel lays on a free shuttle into Ao Nang that has an abundance of restaurants. And when you’ve had enough of the ‘Tacky Strip’ you just head back to your sanctuary. If you like a busy hotel with full on entertainment and bustling nightlife – don’t stay here, but is you crave peace and quiet and a touch of luxury – this is the place for you.

Room is very clean and nice decoration set up with flowers also there are many minimal things set up upon entering into the room such as welcome amenity with a local product, written welcome words on leaf with my name, bathtub fulfil with rose petals which I can call all these were impressed me and hit to my heart. My room is pool access with direct to adult pool accessibility. During the day I walked around the resort and see there are two pools (one for family and one for adult) the resort itself have their own beach and fortunately only this hotel around here then look like hotel have private beach. Talking about services, Front desk staff very friendly while check in and served me welcome drink with cold towel, when I walk around and met hotel staff they are more than welcome by say sawasdee krab and keep smiling all the time.

Like what many other people said, the resort was very peaceful yet very accessible to the Ao Nang Beach area by the shuttle bus they provided.

I was upgraded to Direct Pool Access Room and the experience was amazing. (Imagine you can jump directly from the pool everyday you wake up !!) It is a very nice experience. Thanks to all the Employees especially Front Desk, A and Bie, One Touch Service Manager. They have been very caring and showed very genuine and sincere service when I had questions. They have been very helpful. I have to say my wonderful stay was because of them. They are role models to the team.

I have tried the spa too which special promotion of THB1900nett for 90 minutes massage. I tried to aroma with massage oil – soft to medium pressure. Everything was just right, there was even a small gift given during the promotional period.

All in all, I have a wonderful stay in Shellsea and Krabi. Really cannot wait to go back again. I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to those who is looking for a great quality hotel in Krabi.

Our 63 guest rooms showcase cool, comfort, oriental charm inspired design, eco-friendly in-room amenities provide a balance between indulgence and affordability.

The hotel still offers the same excellent service as before. The staff are fantastic and cannot do enough for you. The room itself was clean, comfortable and spacious with a sunny balcony overlooking the pool.
The pool area has comfortable sunbeds and a swim up pool bar which is nice and if I’m honest the breakfast offered is one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had on my travels in Thailand. There is a mixture of both Eastern and western choices available as well as eggs made to order and a wide selection of breads and pastries.

The hotel also seems to demonstrate a good level of ecological and environmental awareness (eg reusable glass water bottles etc) which is of course important. Location is great. Just a short walk from ao nang centre and beaches as well as boats to Railay Bay. Perfect for those who aren’t comfortable hiring a scooter. If you are willing to spend around £60/65 a night this place is perfect and myself and my partner both highly recommend it.

Location is great as it is located in between Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara beach. If you are traveling solo or couple, you can just take airport shuttle for 150b per person. You can buy return shuttle ticket from the tourist information shop in front of the hotel too. The shuttle will pick you from the hotel to airport.
They are 7eleven, Family Mart within 3 mins walk from the hotel. Hotel staff is very friendly and check in is very fast too. Decoration of the room and the swimming pool is lovely. For those love to take photo, you must stay in this hotel as many spots for you to take photo and post on your IG! No worry about eating place as many in the surrounding area.

Room is clean and still look very new. The hotel do provide towel to pool and towel for you to take to beach too! Balcony is spacious for relaxing with an afternoon tea.

If you’re staying in Ao Nang, there should be one hotel that should be on your list. From the moment you arrive and receive a glass of a Red Ginger frosted drink, you know you’re in for something special. This is a small – mid sized hotel, situated on a street full of hotels, and it stands out amongst all the others. The staff is friendly and wonderful. The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable.

The swimming pool is phenomenal, and can keep a family entertained all day. There’s a bar in the pool(!) so you can keep hydrated while you swim. The restaurant is lovely, and breakfast is superb, offering the normal range of breakfasts. If I was staying in Ao Nang again this would be top of my list.
