The hotel lies within a mere 100 metres from the ski slopes, yet right at the heart of all town activities due to its location next to the main promenade.
Lovely hotel in perfect location right in the village centre opposite the supermarket. Great choice of food both at breakfast and evening meals and good packed lunches every day. Toiletries replenished each day and room cleaned daily.
I love this hotel in the most beautiful Kranjska Gora. It is near to the centre square and opposite the supermarket. There are a number of walks clearly signed nearby and it as a short walk to the bus station and local shops. It is only 6 kilometres from the Austrian and Italian borders and surrounded by the mountain areas.
The food was delicious and plentiful with meat, fish and vegetarian choices. Delicious fresh salads, fresh fruit and cakes were always available too. Staff were very helpful and polite in this area.
The bedroom was very comfortable with a balcony, Plenty of clean towels if you wished ,and loads of hanging and shelf space for 2.
A fridge was in the room and a comfy sofa to relax on. The shower was adequate, but needed a shelf- where was it? There were holes in the tiles where one had been- you need somewhere to put shampoo, soap, sponge etc- too old to bend down to the floor for these! Also, there was only a ‘hose hairdryer’- my pet hate. You had to stand practically in the toilet to use this- please get a decent hair dryer , hose types should be banned from all hotels.
The Ramada Hotel & Suites (formerly the Grand Prisank Hotel) is in the centre of the village of Kranjska Gora, opposite a supermarket and post office and near to many cafes, bars, restaurants and sports equipment shops. It’s a perfect base for a pleasant holiday with wonderful clear air, fantastic views and 20 well signposted country and mountain walks.
The hotel is medium sized but very spacious, with a large restaurant, two bars and a sun terrace. Rooms are a decent size with a balcony, sofa and en-suite shower room – some also have a bath, so check beforehand if this is important to you. There is a mini bar, a free room safe and free wifi, and several wholly or partially English-language TV channels. Note that there is no A/C in summer.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms and public areas are clean and welcoming.
I was staying on an all-inclusive basis so took all meals in the restaurant, self service buffet-style. The food is not haute cuisine, meat could be tough and vegetables overcooked, but there was a good variety and quantity. The starters and salads were particularly good.
There is no gym or pool but the nearby Ramada Resort hotel has a pool, spa and wellness centre open to hotel guests.

The 4 star gay friendly hotels rooms are very good, wellness is excellent (one swimming pool around 20 meters long very convenient for proper swimming, another one with warm water and jets, small pool for kids and jacuzzi for 8 persons). Food is good, very pleasant staff. This hotel is not at the ski trails venue, but the surrounding is beautiful and if you are with car it is not problem at all to get to the trails as there is huge free-of-charge parking.
The location of the hotel is suitable for both relaxing and a more active holiday. By far the best feature of the hotel is the beautiful mountain view. This can be enjoyed from the room (book a mountain view room in the 4* part) or the wellness centre terrace. The view from the terrace is even better. Most of the hotel staff are friendly and helpful but some members of staff really need to learn more customers service skills. The food offered in the hotel was good. The pool area was really nice. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.
The resort is situated between mountains and there are literally stunning views everywhere you turn. The facilities are well-maintained and very clean. The rooms are massive! They have high ceilings and we had the biggest bathtub I’ve ever seen in our room! The staff are fabulous and all seem to speak multiple languages to cater for guests of different backgrounds.
The hotel is situated in an enviable location directly opposite the stunning mountain range, if you book a mountain view room you are in for a treat. Forest view rooms are at the back of the property and still have a lovely tranquil backdrop, but honestly it is worth paying the extra to wake up to the mountains every morning.
There is plenty of parking for those who have a vehicle, some spaces may be around the back but none are very far away from the entrance. The wellness entrance is closed after the spa area closing time so if you return after this, you would have to use the main reception entrance only.
The hotel comprises of two parts, 3* Spik Hotel and 4* Spik Alpine Wellness Resort. The older part is the Spik Hotel and seemed to have the family rooms with bunk beds etc. in. This section is nearer to the bar and restaurant, whereas the new section can mean a bit of a walk to the restaurant, something to note if you have mobility issues. The rooms in the new 4* part are very nice, twin beds pushed together with separate duvets. The interior is made from light coloured wood, very nice and peaceful feel about it. Large TV with a very good selection of channels. There is a generous sized balcony once you can figure out how to open the door, there is a pictorial image of how to do it, but it took us several attempts before we worked it out. Plenty of wardrobe space, safe and minibar. Lovely bathtub, lots of space in there and the bathroom overall was really nice.
Food at the hotel was not bad, better than we expected from a small country not widely known for exciting food. Breakfast consisted of a varied mix of hot items, some better than others, fried eggs, potatoes, local sausage, vegetables, usually something from the night before turned into something else. There were also your standard cheese, meats and salad. Cereals, tea, coffee, a good choice of juices and healthy vitamin drinks. There was fresh fruit, bread, pastries, yoghurts. Plenty for everyone, you’d find it hard not to find something. Dinner was a similar standard, a variety of hot dishes, usually a meat/veal stew type dish, a pasta, potatoes/rice/couscous, always a type of fish, vegetables. Again lots of salad, fresh fruit. Soup and bread. Ice cream and an array of little cakes for dessert. Not bad at all for the price paid for Half Board.
The best thing about the hotel, aside from the view, is the World of Saunas. Hotel residents pay just EUR11 to use this facility, a private area of saunas, steam rooms, ice, solarium beds, hot and cold pools. A very intimate space, were users are required to be nude. You are provided with a towel and sheet for modesty should you wish to use it. Wholeheartedly recommend this experience. The swimming pool is free of charge for guests and is a large and well maintained space. After the ski day has finished, there are a lot of children also in the pool so can be nice to get in there early. A very very good facility, greatly appreciated after a hard day on the slopes.
The hotel has a complimentary ski shuttle that runs to/from Kranjska Gora just 3km away, check with reception for the timetable as it runs 3 times in the morning and twice in the evening. There are also lockers for storing ski equipment.
All in all, this is a very well run hotel, with excellent facilities and incredible views, set in a convenient location for skiers, hikers, and general mountain lovers. We will definitely return here.

Lovely brand new hotel with super comfortable rooms with top quality furniture and bedding. Bathroom superb as well. The young owners do everything to make clients happy, including an excellent breakfast.
The situation in the very heart of the old village is lovely, everything (including parking) is within easy reach.
Hotel facilities are spotless. Products used for guests are top quality and that includes the food products they use to make our breakfast. We can tell our hosts are putting their heart and soul in it.
I would definitely recommend a stay at Hotel Vandot. It is smart, modern and clean. It’s a great location in the centre of Kranjska Gora, within walking distance of everything. We particularly liked the breakfast which set us up for a day out walking. Lots of local produce and the pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. Great coffee. But the best thing was how friendly the owners were. Fantastic customer service.
