Lesbiangaybisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved in recent decades. However, LGBT Americans may still face some legal and many social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, particularly in states with large conservative populations, such as in the Deep South; in rural areas; and in some Native American tribal nations.

U.S. federal law does not explicitly include protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In June 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity are included under “sex” as a prohibited ground of employment discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

California is seen as one of the most liberal states in the U.S. in regard to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights, which have received nationwide recognition since the 1970s. Same-sex sexual activity has been legal in the state since 1976.
Laguna Beach has a long history of being a  gay friendly town and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as MAIN STREET BAR & CABARET or Sandpiper are  most famous gay friendly bars in Laguna Beach, CA.
A historic art colony with a long-established gay community, Laguna Beach is Orange County’s leading LGBT city. Stay in such gayfriendly spots as the Surf and Sand Resort, a spectacular oceanfront luxury hotel that’s also home to the intimate (and LGBTfriendly) Aquaterra Spa.
Laguna Beach is a small coastal city in Orange County, California. It’s known for its many art galleries, coves and beaches. Main Beach features tide pools and a boardwalk leading to the paths and gardens of nearby Heisler Park. Aliso Beach Park is a popular surf spot. The waters off Crystal Cove State Park are designated as an underwater park. Trails meander through coastal canyons in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

The resort also houses Splashes Restaurant, featuring a Mediterranean-inspired coastal menu by Executive Chef Ron Fougeray; the intimate Aquaterra Spa; 10,000-square-feet of meeting space and wedding venues with stunning ocean views.

This is my second time visiting Surf & Sand resort. I love their ocean front rooms. They are a complete escape from the world. I love the relaxed vibe of the grounds and how easy it is to walk to restaurants and coffee shops. Splashes also has the beautiful ocean front view and wonderful food. I will come back time and time again.

The two bedroom suite was spectacular. Almost the whole suite directly faces the ocean. There were two bedrooms and and two bathrooms, as well as a dining table and living room. Additionally, there was a gas fireplace that was easy to work. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms had the typical amenities. There is also a Keurig coffee machine in the room.

The terrace extends the whole length of the suite with panoramic ocean views. The pool is lovely overlooking the ocean.

The restaurant on the property, Splashes, is wonderful for brunch and they also have very good room service. They also have an incredible spa called Aquaterra.

The location is about a mile south of downtown Laguna Beach, though it is a fun walk with many interesting shops, galleries and restaurants.

The Surf and Sand Resort is one mile from the Main Beach and is close to restaurantsshops, and many gift stores. We walked after dinner to get drinks at a roof top bar close by. Once we got back to the room, the turn-down of the room was impressive. The room lights were dimmed, water and chocolates next to the bed, fresh towels were replaced and things (shoes, robe, magazines) were straightened out.
We went out on the private balcony and the surf is lighted to enjoy even under the light of the moon. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves just feet away was soothing. If that is not your thing, they do leave ear plugs for light sleepers.

For breakfast, the room service was quick and accurate for what we ordered. The entire staff was friendly and helpful at all times. The next day we decided to spend time on the beach. The staff was down on the sand to set up an umbrellas, chairs, and order food if desired. Everything about the Surf and Sand is stellar. As my boyfriend said, “The Surf and Sand really knows how to do it right!

Whether it’s a relaxing romantic getaway, an activity-packed family vacation, a quiet solitary retreat, or a quick trip filled with shopping, food and fun with friends, the Capri Laguna on the Beach is the perfect Southern California getaway. Nestled in the quaint seaside town of Laguna Beach, located midway between Los Angeles and San Diego, the oceanfront Capri Laguna on the Beach Inn is situated directly on the sand of the Pacific Ocean with its picturesque sunsets and world-renown coastline.

Great hotel so close to the water. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our oceanfront room had an amazing view and we were steps away from the beach. On the beach they set up umbrellas, lounge chairs, and provided towels at your request. Beach itself is secluded so no big crowd and the water was pristine.

The front desk, housekeeping, and bell desk staff were all great.

The perfect staycation getaway. Stayed in an oceanfront room with absolutely gorgeous views. The property has a small beach area accessible to guests and provides chairs and umbrellas. General Manager Nick went out of his way to make sure our stay was amazing with the help of Bashir and Morgan. Great place to just float in the ocean. If you get tired of that then watch the sunset from the patio on the roof. Close to downtown Laguna with on site parking. Great getaway for couples.

The front desk has 24-7 Starbucks coffee on demand along with hot chocolate. The also have a continental breakfast (usually have eggs and waffles) with orange juice.

The rooms have a couch, mini kitchen with microwave, small refrigerator, and I dining table, all with a fabulous view. All have very comfortable bedding.

This place has multiple lounging areas, either right on the beach (they provide chairs and umbrellas) or multiple levels.

The room was clean, updated and had everything we needed including a small fridge, table, microwave, sink & coffee maker. The balcony was large with a small table, chairs and cushioned lounge chair. We left the balcony door open all night to hear the sound of the waves. All staff was very friendly and helpful especially Nick Politis and Morgan! Nick was so kind and left us a bottle of wine with two wine glasses to enjoy with the sunset. Morgan was very friendly and helped us with anything we needed.

They have a continental breakfast with muffins, yogurt and fruit. A wonderful starbucks machine for fresh coffee and hot chocolate. If you want to go out to eat, there are plenty of places so close you could easily walk to. The pool is nice and heated. They have a top deck to watch the sunset or lay out. They have a lower patio with tables and chairs with another wonderful view of the ocean and they have another section with tables and chairs/lounge chairs with the view of the ocean. They provide chairs and umbrellas at the beach. They even have sand toys for the kids! I honestly can’t say enough great things about this place. We will be back soon.

The Inn is centrally located within short walking distance to downtown Laguna Beach with over 100 boutique shops and restaurants. Heisler Park, along with many World class art galleries and the Laguna Art Museum are just steps from the hotel.

Unique little place directly on the beach at Laguna. Views are spectacular from most every room and the location to a variety of shops and places to eat are all within walking distance. Nice walking trail around park with view of beach. Facility is very clean and every person we encountered was helpful and so nice.

The best thing about this hotel is its location right off the main beach in Laguna. Its within easy walking distance of the main downtown area for galleries and restaurants and the beach cliff walking path starts right in front of the hotel.

This hotel is usually out of our price range – be aware that there is an additional $60 in parking and resort fees per night.

The Inn is very convenient to Main Beach, Downtown & Pageant of the Masters. When we arrived we parked downstairs & did not use the car again until we left. We walked everywhere. There’s no restaurant on site but there are lots of good restaurants close by & within walking distance. The Inn is adjacent to Main Beach & is a short walk downstairs.

The Inn offers iced water, coffee, wine & cookies daily at various times of day. We had a village room I found pricey especially since it was on the small side & the a/c was powerful but loud. The bed was very comfortable though. Overall we would stay there again.
