Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Cyprus may face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Cyprus, and civil unions which grant several of the rights and benefits of marriage have been legal since December 2015.

Traditionally, the socially conservative Greek Orthodox Church has had significant influence over public opinion and politics regarding LGBT rights. However, ever since Cyprus sought membership in the European Union, it had to change its human rights legislation, including its laws regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Attitudes towards members of the LGBT community are evolving and becoming increasingly more accepting and tolerant.

Larnaca has a long history of being a  gay friendly resort and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Vinci Gay Sauna is the most famous gay place in Larnaca, Cyprus.

Larnaca (Larnarka) is a port city on the south coast of Cyprus. It’s known for Finikoudes Beach, a sandy strip in the city center backed by a palm-lined seaside promenade. Buzzing bars line the waterfront at Mackenzie Beach. Just offshore, the MS Zenobia wreck is a popular dive site. The 9th-century Church of Saint Lazarus contains the tomb of the saint said to have risen from the dead.

Famous Finikoudes promenade – 19.3km distance.

This place is a real runaway. Located away from crowds but not lonely, because it is a set of buildings, villas and apartments. Extremely clean and so professionally architected villas – 3 bedrooms, each one has private bathroom, ideally  group of friends. We had one with the sea view and direct exit to the sea, which is literally 200 meters away.

Yes, price is not that low, but I prefer less days in such a fantastic location than more but “touristic”.
Normally I have seen that everybody had rent a car, but anyway taxi is available no problem 15 minutes till Larnaca 20 -25 Eur.

This is a home away from home. The complex is gated and secured. We were really impressed by our three bedroom apartment with impressive decor and huge terrace with a pool view. We found beds exceptionally comfortable. The place has its own private beach with free of additional charge sunbeds and umbrellas. The staff was polite and friendly.

We didn’t find any negatives during our stay. The only thing that you should be aware of is that this pace is for people who really need to relax, there are no night entertainment, clubs or loud music on the premises or nearby.

From the time you enter till the time you leave you have the feeling that you are in a different world. The apartment is big, very well equipped, beautifully decorated with amazing views to the gardens, pool and sea.

The premises are very well maintained and keep improving, but the 10 + goes to the staff! Welcome, warm and discreet.

The villa has everything that is needed so a family can enjoy the holiday. The interior is well built and designed. The furniture is basically new. The same could be said about the kitchen amenities and essentials, everything is new and good quality. Rooms, bathrooms are clean as our infant moved everywhere with no worries. The place has very nice garden with nice sea view.

2. Hotel Indigo Larnaca – Adults Only 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Larnaca

Hotel Indigo Larnaca - Adults Only
Hotel Indigo Larnaca – Adults Only

Conveniently situated in the historical Larnaca City Centre district of Larnaka, the contemporary 4-storey Hotel Indigo – Larnaca features a rooftop pool with magnificent Mediterranean Sea views. It is located close to St Lazarus Church and Larnaca’s Medieval Castle.

All rooms feature a 42″ Smart TV, free WiFi and luxurious bath amenities.

Guests at Hotel Indigo – Larnaca can enjoy a full breakfast at the on-site restaurant. Guests may enjoy beverages and refreshing cocktails at the 2 bars, one of which is right by the pool.

Located on a charming street Hotel Indigo Larnaca is a truly boutique hotel, the perfect place to come home to! Combined with contemporary new bedrooms, a captivating blend of old and new – much like the city of Larnaca itself.

It is a beautifully designed hotel which is modern but has kept a Cypriot character and charm in its decor. The staff were very attentive and friendly, a real asset to the hotel (particularly Andreas in the restaurant!). I particularly enjoyed sitting in the wonderful courtyard dining area, which serves and excellent breakfast and brunch, and becomes a bar in the evenings with excellent cocktails. The hotel is located in Larnaca’s beautiful old town, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Perfect hotel for a weekend getaway.

This is a truly fantastic new hotel. Staff here are some of the most attentive and friendly people I have experienced at any hotel in the world. Right from being greeted with a welcome drink on arrival through to fast and speedy service throughout our stay. The room we had was modern and very clean, with nice high end toiletries. The climate controlled air conditioning worked very well, with a high level of control.

The bed was very comfortable and our room had a nice balcony too. Breakfast was delicious and well presented. They have a rooftop pool complete with a bar, serving a wide variety of drinks, including cocktails. They have more bars on the ground floor and a restaurant with both inside and outside dining options. Everything I ate and drank was delicious and well presented. The pool is small, but there is space to lay around it and soak up the sun with great views of the town and coast.

Location is close to the beach and right in the centre of town, with everything within walking distance. Free parking outside the hotel was handy as we didn’t really use our hire car much. The hotel itself is excellent but the staff are even better. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them and they truly make your stay restful and relaxing. I can genuinely recommended this hotel to everyone and I will certainly be returning here when I next visit Cyprus.

The room was sparkling clean, modern with a small touch of retro. All the furniture where of high quality and the mattress felt really comfortable. There was a decent size flat tv in the room with chromecast, which was great for watching Netflix through your phone or listen to music.

Needless to say – the bathroom was also sparkling clean, including quality toiletries and a waterproof speaker on the ceiling connected to the tv, which was a very nice touch for me as a person who loves music. Air conditioning cooled the room in a minute – a very important factor, given the very hot climate of Cyprus.

On the hotel roof, there is an outdoor pool bar offering amazing views of the city, and of course the sea. While the sea itself is on walking distance of 5 minutes, it was a great place for sunbathing while sipping a cocktail or a beer.

The restaurant offered great food and coffee. The breakfast was awesome and there were all kinds of coffees and tea. I also had a surprisingly good steak and really liked the vegetarian moussaka. Service was excellent and in general all staff was friendly and caring for our needs, going that extra mile to give us the best experience.

As the hotel is situated in the very heart of Larnaca, there were all kinds of shops, bars and restaurants in a walking distance, making it a great place to stay.

The location gives you the conveyance to discover the city in detail, without the need for a vehicle.

3. The Josephine Boutique Hotel 3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Larnaca

You will find a 24-hour front desk and shops at The Josephine Boutique Hotel. The hotel also offers bike hire and car hire. Dimarchiou Square is 100 m from The Josephine Boutique Hotel, while Finikoudes Beach is 300 m from the property.

In a whitewashed building that lights up with colorful LED lighting at night, this trendy hotel in a bustling neighborhood is a 2-minute walk from Finikoudes Beach. It’s also 9 km from Larnaca International Airport.

There’s a rooftop with an outdoor pool and sun loungers, plus sea views. Breakfast is available.

LocationCentral location in Larnaca which is great for shopping and walking to the beach and all the restaurants on the strip.

Rooms: We stayed on the 3rd floor (out of 6) as you can see the rooms are very spacious, modern and very very clean.

Breakfast: On the 6th floor and has everything you need, the freshly squeezed juice is amazing ??

Parking: I was very sceptical about parking considering the Hotel is in such a central location. There’s parking around but the hotel offer €5 parking a day in the multi storey car park which is a minute away with a refundable €20 deposit.

Overall: We loved our stay in the Josephine hotel, we’ve stayed in most of the 4/5 star hotels in Larnaca and to be fair this is in my top 3 even though its a 3 star! It’s super clean, staff are very polite and helpful. Looking forward to returning again, this has to be a minimum 4 star hotel.

The hotel is very clean and modern, and the customer service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The location is great: very close to the Finikoudes beach and surrounded by fantastic restaurants and shops. Only little minus is that there could be a better soundproofing to the hallway and outside. But altogether we were very happy to stay in the Josephine Boutique Hotel and definitely recommend choosing this hotel for your vacation in Larnaca.

This is a hotel very centrally located in Larnaca. Right at the heart of the city centre, next to all the shops, great restaurants and a few meters away from the Finikoudes beach.

As a newly built hotel, it was very modern, nicely decorated and clean. The room was very spacious and we had a big nice balcony with a nice city view. Although I’ve read reviews with people complaining about the noise, our room was in a higher floor, so there was no problem with that.

It was extremely helpful that the reception was open 24/7 because at some point we had an issue with the air conditioning so we had to call the receptionist – who very kindly resolved it immediately.

The breakfast was also nice, not very rich, but everything that should be there, it was.

The only problem we found in our 5-day stay was the pool. Although it is a very nice space on the rooftop with a view over the whole city and the sea, it was very dirty the one time we visited it. It was at the end of the day, so maybe a lot of people had swimmed before, but still it was a unpleasant thing to see.

Overall, I would definitely book at this hotel again if I find myself in Larnaca.
