What are the top attractions to visit in Marbella?

Marbella is one of the best-known resorts on the Costa del Sol. Its beaches, night clubs and luxury venues are famous the world over. But this popular holiday spot also has some unexpected sides to it.

1. Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella – Adults Only  4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Marbella

Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella
Amàre Beach Hotel Marbella

Set on the beachfront, in the centre of Marbella‘s old town, this adults-only hotel offers a spa and outdoor swimming pool. Amare Marbella Beach Hotel – Adults Only features free WiFi throughout the property and at the Beach Club.

The modern, stylish rooms are spacious and bright, and most rooms have a balcony with side or front sea views. The hotel also offers Exclusive Rooms, which include VIP treatment and access to the adults-only The One Lounge.

One of the hotel´s main attractions is Amàre Club, divided into 3 areas that combine music and entertaining by the sea. Amàre Beach offers restaurant and sun bathing areas, and Amàre Pool has an outdoor swimming pool and a sun terrace. The Amàre Lounge, a relax area with a bar and café, which also features evening entertainment.

The Hotel Amàre Marbella is much more than a luxury destination, it’s a magical experience too wonderful for words. Its Mediterranean name tries to capture the essence of this private paradise. “Amàre” not only means “love” but also gives the feel of the “sea” and displays a very natural and unforgettable world that you will not be able to resist.

Amàre Marbella is a unique hotel in Costa del Sol that brings together the perfect ingredients for a delightful stay: it’s an adults only hotel, on the beachfront and close to Marbella’s old town. Once you step in our Spa Hotel you will feel as if you were crossing an open door to the sea where all your wishes are granted. The beautiful Mediterranean shore will be right in your lap without your feet even touching the sand. Would you like to order a cocktail while sunbathing? Just press a button. Our entire staff is waiting to help you.

And what about an appetising breakfast no matter the time you wake up? It’s there for you, served in the fresh air. There’s no detail that has been passed over to give you the best imaginable holidays for couples. Savour the beauty of the sea at Amàre Beach, dive into relaxation lying in the Amàre Pool or just switch off in the Amàre Lounge . Chill Out music surrounds these three distinct environments, which will award you innumerable distinct pleasures.

The location is tremendous as it is just on the beach in front of a beautiful board walk, and almost across the street for the old town of Marbella.Could not get better location. Not too far from the main bus station where you can take busses to all other cities like Malaga and Torremolinos .Also has a city bus just across the street.

Hotel quite small but bright and ultra modern. Modern cool vibe. Some king beds but often two pushed together so check this when checking in if you have a preference. No complimentary bottled water. There was tea and coffee but no indication whether comp or not. Better signage needed regarding charges and what’s chargeable. Bathrooms fab. New, clean, nice toiletries .

Shower best I’ve seen in a hotel before. What was really fabulous was that when you stepped off the lift to bedrooms there was a beautiful aroma circulating in the corridor. Gave a lux impression. Check in staff and actually all we came across were very professional and attentive. B&B definitely worth taking. Breakfast was excellent but really busy at certain times.

The other benefit is that you are no more than 10 mins from the beautiful old town with its twisting, turning labyrinth of tiny streets populated by bars and restaurants.

Food and drinks service was also excellent – both the pool and beach club areas having sunbed buzzers to request service. Breakfast buffet was very comprehensive and it was a delight to sit outside with a wonderful sea view. Rooms are bright, airy, if a little small, but quiet and more than adequate. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the old town where there are numerous restaurants and great atmosphere.

This adult only hotel is top class, beautiful, comfortable well equipped rooms with magnificent views of the sea. Private beach club in centre of Marbella.
Lovely spa area in hotel for extra charge but well worth a visit. Excellent 5 star breakfast, freshly cooked hot food, beautiful fruits, champagne included. Reception staff very friendly.
Lovely walks to Puerto Banus along the seafront and short stroll to the old city of Marbella.

There is nothing not to like about The Amare Beach Hotel, treat yourself to a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Vincci Selección Estrella del Mar 5* is a Luxury  & gay friendly 5-Star establishment belonging to the Vincci Hoteles chain. The Vincci Selección Estrella del Mar is located in Marbella, 8 km from downtown and 43 km from Malaga airport. The hotel is set in an exceptional location in the heart of the Costa del Sol, in the area known as “Elviria–Las Chapas”, regarded as one of the town’s most desirable spots and near what is considered the best beach on this part of the coast.Built in a modern Mediterranean style with Arab influence, it has 137 rooms and suites, all imbued with Vincci Hoteles trademark style and elegance.

The hotel is located close to the beach in a quiet residential area. Even though this is a pretty large hotel, you never get a crowded feeling and with the different garden/pool compartments, it’s an ideal place for people who value privacy. Staff is very professional and discrete in every area (reception, housekeeping, restaurants).

The hotel and its grounds, gardens and swimming pool are simply beautiful. The guest rooms are very spacious and well equipped with the bathrooms that are very large and luxurious. Our rate included breakfast: the buffet offered all of the expected items and was served in a nicely appointed restaurant with a pretty terrace. The staff was “superficially very nice” meaning that they were friendly but never actually did anything to help or accommodate. The swimming pool areas are lovely with an adequate number of very comfortable lounge chairs. The wifi worked well and was complimentary.

This is a very quiet hotel with little or no entertainment and speaking with some other guests also shared the opinion that there is a lack of atmosphere in the evenings.

The hotel is situated about 10km from Marbella, we took a taxi one evening to Puerto Banus. The cost was just over 50€ return.

There is not much going on in this area as is mainly residential, the beach is located just over a 5 minute walk down a hill. There are a few bars on the beach.

All staff were courteous, efficient, friendly & attentive, they were a pleasure to deal and converse with.

Ours was a Superior SeaView Room, which was large, well-appointed and extremely comfortable. It exceeded our hopes and expectations with what was, in effect, a 7-foot super-king bed; plenty of hanging and drawer space; two large lounge chairs; a large balcony; and a superb bathroom with an enormous bath, separate shower and toilet areas.

We booked on a B and B basis, which turned out to be a good choice, for several reasons. The breakfast buffet is served until 11:00, so many guests take advantage of a lay-in followed by a leisurely brunch to set them up for the day.

We’re unused to evening buffet meals but those on offer were truly outstanding and well worth the 20 Euros (and 30 Cents!) charged to hotel guests who book with Reception before 7:00 p.m. – this represents a 30% discount on what non-hotel guests are charged, it’s terrific value for money.

We dined in the A La Carte restaurant once. Food quality was good, but the ambience was spoilt, a little, by rather bright lighting, which seems to be a trait with some Spanish hotel restaurants.

Close to some of Marbella’s most popular landmarks, such as Fuente La Venus de Marbella (0.2 mi) and Avenida del Mar (0.2 mi), El Faro is a great destination for tourists.

While visiting Marbella, you may want to try some tapas at one of the nearby restaurants, such as Dani Garcia, Lobito de Mar, or Bibo Andalusian Brasserie & Tapas Dani Garcia.

Room was large with a massive double bed and very clean. We were on the road side of the hotel and found it very quiet but we were on the fourth floor.

Breakfast was good and all the staff were very friendly.

Beach is a few minutes walk away and the Old Town about ten minutes walk.

The hotel is located on a street between the beach and the main shopping road, nearby 15 mins walk is the Old Town Marbella, which I’d recommend a walk around, so pretty Also close to a nice lively area with great tapas bars and restaurants. It’s close to the Marina and you can get a trip on a boat to Puerto Banus which is a really good trip…Location is absolutely fine.

he room was clean and had a small kitchenette area (?) nothing really to cook with though so not sure of the reason for the hob. The fridge was a nice touch.

Nice TV in room if you wanted to watch TV while on holiday, and we had a balcony which looked out over the road, all good and no problems with that. Right opposite was the Thai massage parlou and it was nice to see the ladies catching some sun in the mornings dressed in their stockings and miniskirts 😉 and there was me thinking that masseurs wore white gowns.

The breakfast was OK if you like sliced pineapple, cold meats, cheese, croissants, scrambled eggs, mini frankfurters and if you timed it right you could get a fried egg…oh and beans…yeah the beans…I thought baked beans had a tomato sauce, theirs is in a vinegar sauce, not too pleasant. It was an OK breakfast and was adequate to get you out and on your way.

The location was fabulous, the beach and promenade were less than 2 minutes away and the old town a 10 minute walk. There were lots of restaurants super close to the hotel. The rooms were large and clean with a great balcony. The pool area was nice with plenty of beds but the sun disappeared by 4.30pm. Staff were friendly and helpful and I would recommend a stay here.

4. Hotel Hotel Claude Marbella  3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Marbella

Hotel Claude Marbella
Hotel Claude Marbella

Hotel Claude Marbella is a restored 17th-century building 150 m from Marbella’s Plaza de los Naranjos. The elegant rooms have an iPod dock, 32-inch flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi.

Rooms at this luxury boutique hotel all include terracotta floors, sandstone baths and fine fabrics. All have a diffe Easy access from Malaga International airport theme, exclusive furniture and a bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers.

Revamped Royal Townhouse Once the summer residence of Empress Eugenia de Montijo (Napoleon III´s wife), Hotel Claude Marbella is a 17th- century townhouse that has been revamped and restyled to meld authentic period features with modern design, setting a new benchmark in the boutique-is- beautiful league of southern Spanish hotels. This latest chic retreat takes its name from the late Claude Devoize, the French Opera singer, whose home this townhouse was back in the 70s and 80s, hosting endless soirees and cultural gatherings. The focus of Hotel Claude is its marble-flagged patio and its unique romantic roof terrace, overlooking the bustling old town of Marbella. The seven rooms, divided into 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms and 1 Suite, have been designed individually and each boasting their own unique personality and feel, though all come equipped with the latest in comfort and technology. The Suite Francesca is the only room that looks out onto the old town’s main street. A large balcony and a huge floor-to-ceiling window keep it bright and airy, and the high, wood-beamed ceilings and decorative arch leading to the minimalist mosaic-fitted bathroom create a sense of spaciousness.

All 6 Superior Deluxe Rooms are located to the back of the building, overlooking neighbouring patios and roofs. Up in the eaves, The Flamand room overlooks the roof terrace and has its own private stairwell leading up to a smart loft-style studio with glossy oak floors and a semi-open-plan bathroom. Listening to the church chime outside and looking out over the steeple, you feel like a princess in a tower. Savannah and North African-themed Marroqui are joined by a courtyard, making them ideal for families or friends travelling together.

Small properties can sometimes feel stifling, but not here, and the design incorporates a flurry of velvet, purples, reds and cream colours. Once the a la carte breakfast has been served on the roof terrace or the black and white themed “bijou” style dining room, guests are left to their own devices. Focusing on showing guests a slice of the old Marbella, in addition to the Costa del Sol´s beaches and golf courses, Hotel Claude emphasises on slowing down and enjoying the surroundings. You’d be hard-pressed to find a retreat as slick or private as The Claude anywhere in Marbella.

Hotel Claude is situated in the perfect location in Old Town Marbella, it’s just a few steps away from some of our favourite restaurants (La Famieke, Arco, Casani’s) and only 5/10 minute walk to the beach. The hotel itself is beautiful, we were in love as soon as we walked in.

The hotel is a family business and they are very attentive to their client’s needs. This hotel is also in a very good location and the owners are always available to make recommendations as well as reservations for their clients. Both owners speak perfect English. The rooms have queens comfortable beds with air condition and all the amenities. They also offer breakfast and if you are in the hotel after 7:00pm. they will offer you a glass of Spanish wine.

he rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean – they pay attention to every detail. They go beyond and above to make you feel at home and comfortable. The rooftop is usually very quiet and a perfect place to relax at night with a glass of wine.

The staff are so attentive to your every need and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them. Rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast on the terrace is an absolute luxury – it’s amazing. Food is fresh and locally sourced and there’s a real sense of pride in what is served and how its presented. There’s a great honesty bar perfect for sundowners with extremely good wines on offer. Claude is a real gem and I really can’t recommend it highly enough.

Perfectly located in Old Marbella town, this hotel is a fantastic base situated within a minutes walk of the bars and restaurants of Old Marbella. Breakfast is served on the rooftop (when weather allows) by super attentive staff. The rooms are top quality, with great showers and great decor. The common areas are very good quality too with a library (nice pics) and rooftop tables and chairs.
