1. Hôtel Columbus Monte Carlo 3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Monaco

Hôtel Columbus Monte Carlo
Hôtel Columbus Monte Carlo

Entirely renovated in 2018 and offering a seasonal outdoor swimming pool with a sun deck lined with palm trees, Hôtel Columbus Monte Carlo overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, the Princess Grace Rose garden and the mountains.

Each room is air-conditioned, soundproofed and equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer and free toiletries. A coffee machine is provided in each room. The suites at the Hotel Columbus are luxuriously decorated. They all feature a separate seating area and certain suites have a balcony or terrace with a sea view.

Breakfast is served every morning at the property. The onsite restaurant, Tavolo, specialises in Mediterranean cuisine and offers lunch.

Facing the Rose Garden dedicated to Princess Grace, close to the heliport with easy access to the Old town and the Casino square the Columbus offers 181 newly renovated upscale lifestyle rooms including 28 Suites, the majority of which have a terrace – 1 Apartment – Soundproofed and individually controlled air conditioning – Flat Screen SMART TV- international channels – Free High speed Wifi access both in rooms and public areas. Restaurant Tavolo open for breakfast and lunch. Cocktail bar with Happy Hour. Heated outdoor pool and private beach access (April – October).

Great Boutique hotel and so much more than a 3 star. Rooms excellent. Beds and pillows are fantastic. Great staff. Lovely interior finished to high standard. Love the location looking across the rose gardens and sea.

he rooms are very tastefully decorated and have all the facilities one requires for a very comfortable stay. I would recommend that you get a room with a balcony as whether it looks over the Rose Garden (our preference) or the Med, it is great to sit out and watch the sunset etc. even in the winter.

As for its location in Fontvieille, we consider it perfect. It is less touristy than around Port Hercule, and the Casino, with small local bars and cafes and some great restaurants within a few minutes walk from the hotel. The walk to the centre of Monaco is really pleasant, and doesn’t take long at all. I believe the hotel runs a shuttle service, but in the nearly 20 years of coming here, we have never used it. It is close to the heliport, which can be convenient, and yes, you do hear the helicopters arrive and take off.

Pros:
– Newly renovated room nicely styled
– Room quite spacious for European standard
– Convenient free shuttle that drive you from hotel to major sightseeing spots
– Steps from bus stop
– Good price for Monaco standard

Con:
– Bath tube extremely narrow, quite uncomfortable to stand there showering, I can’t imagine if you actually want to sit down and soak
– Like many so-called stylist hotels nowadays, there are no shower curtain for the bath tube, the glass panel covers less than half the length of the bath tube, you can imagine how wet the entire floor is after you shower
– The pool and rose garden advertised on their website are really just mediocre, the rose garden is across the street doesn’t feel like part of the hotel and honestly doesn’t look very nice; the pool is actually a pool in the attached condo and opens very few hours a day, and looks more like a fancy public pool than anything, not somewhere you want to spend the day at
– Housekeeping always miss replenishing amenities/tea/coffee in our room, and it takes forever for someone to bring it up when you call. Bottle water is only provided on the first day.

2. Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Monaco

Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo
Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

Set in a palace in Monaco listed as an historic monument, Hôtel Hermitage is a luxurious five-star hotel featuring Belle-Époque décor just 200 m from Monte-Carlo Casino. It features a winter garden and guests can access the 7,000 m² spa.

A minibar, flat-screen TV and period furnishings feature in the individually decorated and air-conditioned rooms at Hôtel Hermitage. Each room has a view of the city, garden or sea. A DVD player and video games are available upon request.

A selection of vintage wines and spirits are served in the Crystal Bar, with its leather armchairs. Savour gastronomic cuisine in the Vistamar restaurant, which has a terrace offering harbour views, and enjoy freshly made pastries in the Limùn Bar.

Relaxation, the art of true living, an unmistakable sophistication – such is the spirit of the Belle Epoque which brings the Hotel Hermitage to life. A century later, the same spirit is still intact in the Eiffel Hall, the salons, the guest rooms, each with an individual, intimate atmosphere where discreet luxury joins with classic pleasures from times pasts.Overlooking the Mediterranean, the Hôtel Hermitage cultivates elegance at its highest level. Born with the 20th century, this historic palace imparts an intimate, relaxed atmosphere in which serenity is re-invented with each new day.

Situated at the heart of Monte Carlo and providing one of the best views of town, the hotel is the perfect place to stay in Monaco.

Hermitage hotel is heaven for architecture lovers with its elegant designs and posh Belle Epoque-style rooms. It is well worth staying there for its facilities: the beautiful courtyard, the restaurant and the luxurious spa. Located only 5-minutes walk from Monte Carlo Casino and 2.5 km from Larvotto Beach, makes the location unbeatable.

The impression upon walking into the hotel’s lobby is of a very grand and elegant hotel with beautiful attention to detail. We only stayed one night (which was not long enough) in a lovely Junior suite with sea view and jacuzzi. The room was gorgeously decorated in a Belle-Epoque style like the rest of the hotel, but it was very up to date and the bathroom was huge. The bed was very comfortable. As good as the room was, the absolute highlight was the huge terrace overlooking Monte-Carlo harbour. It was simply stunning!

We took advantage of the courtesy access to the Thermes Marins Fitness and Spa which you can access directly from the hotel. The pool was gorgeous and it’s well worth using these facilities if you stay here.

The staff were all very courteous and obliging from the moment we arrived until departure. I would like to particularly thank Sophie from the Sales team who was lovely and made us feel very welcome.

I had been to Monaco on a few occasions prior to this but previously just as a day trip from Nice or Cannes. This was the first time I had spent a night here and it wasn’t long enough. Monte-Carlo is such a beautiful and serene spot and next time we come to this part of the world we would like to spend a few nights here. For me, nothing on this earth beats having a beer (albeit, a very expensive one!) on the terrace at the nearby Cafe De Paris, watching the glitz and glam of Monaco go by. It is simply breathtaking.

A refined and beautiful hotel, with dreamy interiors filled with flowers and light beautiful decor. The staff are very polite and attentive, and the location is wonderful ( right next to casino ect) so it is in the heart of the action but one street back so more quiet, less tourists around than when staying at Hotel De Paris. So, only downfall. The building is huge and it may take you 15 mins to cross to get to the gym or to reception and back to your room.

Apart from that, breakfast selection is vast and high quality ( the chocolate french toast is to die for ) , coffee is great and the terrace bar has a sensational view of the port. Its vibe is so airy and beautiful, recommend to any one who really wants to be enthused by Monaco luxury and feel like they are in a movie. Also for those who want a prime location to all the local attractions. The rooms are also well stocked with luxury amenities, and they put us a nespresso machine on request which was great. A true gem of Monaco.

3. Novotel Monte-Carlo 3* – LGBT Friendly Hotels Monaco

Novotel Monte-Carlo
Novotel Monte-Carlo

In the heart of the Principality of Monaco, it is a short walk from the train station, Place du Casino and Grimaldi Forum. It offers a seasonal outdoor pool with sun loungers, a fitness room, a hammam and a sauna. The hotel was renovated in 2019 and offers a Riviera-inspired décor.

All air-conditioned rooms and suites at the Novotel Monte-Carlo are furnished with a desk and free Wi-Fi is provided throughout. Each has an en suite bathroom and some rooms have a view of the swimming pool and garden.

The hotel offers a variety of breakfast options including an American breakfast buffet, room service and a quick breakfast is available in the bar. The Azzurra, which opens onto the garden, serves Mediterranean cuisine and there is an on-site bar serving snacks over lunch and dinner. The ‘Azzurra Kitchen’ restaurant offers a wide range of dishes, inspired by the world famous Rivieras. The bar, ‘Azzurra’, serves a selection of detox juices and signature cocktails.

With terraces and gardens, Novotel Monte-Carlo immerses you in a French Riviera vibe. There are 12 meeting rooms and a coworking space, but our hotel in Monte Carlo also care about your wellbeing. Azzurra Bar & More serves detox juices by day and cocktails in the evening, indoors and on the terrace. Azzurra Kitchen and Azzurra Corner satisfy your hunger with Mediterranean dishes. With the addition of a swimming pool, sauna, hammam, fitness room and massages upon request, your relaxation will be complete. Our hotel awaits you in the heart of the city, just a 3-minute walk from the Monaco railway station.

In the immediate vicinity are the casino, opera house, marine thermal baths, Monte-Carlo Metropole shopping centre and the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. A little further afield, the Palais Princier, Oceanographic Museum, Exotic Gardens, Grimaldi Forum and Larvotto beach are all easily accessible by bus. Last but not least, our hotel is 2 km from the heliport and 25 km from the Nice-Côte d’Azur airport.

he location is a mere three minute, level walk from the railway station. The check-in took ages as there are just two receptionists on duty, standing in the entrance hall. Our room overlooked the street side of the hotel but was very quiet. It was clean, spacious, bland but comfortable. The bathroom/shower was clean, well equipped and modern. The wc was separate. Tea/coffee were provided and there was a useful safe, ironing/board and large tv. A very good, medium priced, no frills hotel. One tip which you are not told – you need to insert your key card into the slot inside the lift before the lift will ascend.

Hotel is modern, spacious room and convenient location. It is about 7 minutes walk to the Casino of Monte Carlo.

The breakfast is good. The room service breakfast is generous but without hot food like eggs and sausages.

I ‘d wish that the pool can be opened earlier or later so that we can swim before or after work. Another thing they may improve is to add USB sockets in the room.

This Novotel however is perhaps the best we’ve stayed in for roomy and super comfortable bedding, and a wide choice for a European travellers’ breakfast which was splendidly cooked and presented.

The room was certainly well set up in advance. The second day the coffee trimmings were missed – I’m sure had we said that would have been sorted, but they were clearly busy, as were we too wanting to have a good look round in limited time. We were on a second floor room overlooking the main road and were well impressed with how quiet the double – double glazing made our nights’ sleeping.

There’s a small outdoor pool and rest area and also meeting rooms, so there’s a wide range of travellers present. It’s not particularly close to a choice in restaurants although they do have their own attached.

A good city map with all the bus routes and sights was supplied by reception. The hotel is very handy (250 yards) for the mainline trains and city bus stops – a 24 hour pass for which at €5.50 (or 48hrs for €8.50) is better value than the red hop-on hop off version. The railway station gives access to the escalators for some parts of the City’s tourist trail. English very well understood in this hotel, and moderately so in the city too.
