Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved in recent decades. However, LGBT Americans may still face some legal and many social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, particularly in states with large conservative populations, such as in the Deep South; in rural areas; and in some Native American tribal nations.
U.S. federal law does not explicitly include protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In June 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity are included under “sex” as a prohibited ground of employment discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Our room was amazing – clean and huge and beautifully appointed. We really enjoyed the pool area. The indoor slides were a real treat, and the lazy river, hot tubs and pool were just the right temperature for December.
The location is perfect as well. It is within walking distance of great restaurants and the strip. We loved the boardwalk path that is perfect for walking and biking.
Pros: The breakfast and breakfast staff were fantastic! Dee, A.J. And Shonta were a bright start to my morning. Super enthusiastic, friendly, fun and professional. The water park is awesome! This was a short weekend trip for me and my daughter and she absolutely loved the indoor pools, and I enjoyed the hot tub. We stayed in an ocean view king suite and it was beautiful. Beds and furniture are very comfortable, very spacious living area and bathroom is large as well. You also can’t beat that view in the morning!

The daily resort fee includes amenities such as a business center, parking, and use of indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy river, mini-golf and an exercise room. There’s also a spa (fee) and a seasonal poolside bar.
The room was just like the pictures, not the “deluxe” versions that appear to have been remodeled. This room had the older, heavier furniture and carpet but it was fine. New TVs in both rooms – a little strange that the TV in the bedroom is on the dresser blocking the mirror, but maybe a wall mount is on order. Great garden tub with jets, and it tested clean! (Always run our tub jets with a full tub of clear water first, just to be sure.)
Kitchen was adequate – brought some of our own utensils but would have been fine without. Quality towels and linens. Lots of good pillows on the bed. Springs on the bed and furniture felt well-used but overall it was a well-appointed room with a couple small maintenance items I didn’t bother to mention until checkout.
This resort has everything you need for a wonderful beach vacation. The views are great, the beach is beautiful. The staff is helpful and attentive. We had a 1 bedroom suite that has a washer and dryer ad full kitchen. Spacious balcony for watching the sunrise every morning.
The location is perfect, the front desk is very helpful, and the property is well-maintained. Valet parking is very convenient and worth the splurge – someone is always there. The rooms are very nice – full kitchen in ours, and you can’t beat the view. The pools are nice (one is converted to an indoor pool in the winter), and they have room service. This is one of my favorite hotels in Myrtle Beach.
Bar: nice, drinks were good. The staff, Russian ladies, one in training, who were nice.
Pool and jacuzzi: a little dirty. Didn’t actually get in due to cleanliness and proximity to the beach. Just went down the hill to the beach.
Concierge: the text option with concierge is a nice touch. A little impersonal but nice to get help with questions and food reservation decisions which they provide then offer us to make reservations via opentable unlike ‘old times’ where they make the reservations for the guest.
Room staff: absolutely amazing, they ensured that we had towels, dish detergent and made sure the trash was cleared from the room each day.
Front desk staff: nice, knowledgeable, to the point. We did arrive early (noon). Flight out was late during the week day but sadly they were not able accommodate a later than noon check out. Nicely they were able to hold out luggage throughout the day to retrieve upon leaving.
Perks: hotel is close to a lot of restaurants, stores and grocery stores. It is a beach front property. We were able to take an uber from the airport for approximately $15 not including tip.

Free perks consist of parking and continental breakfast, plus fish and sports equipment storage. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, a courtyard and a grill, plus a business center, a restaurant and a bar.
The king size bed and pillows were comfortable but not outstanding.
And finally, the pool is very small, but perfect for sitting around enjoying an afternoon. There is a well stocked bar (and restaurant, Costa) within 10 feet of the pool.
All in all, the Sports Lodge is really a very nice place to stay in Murrells Inlet and we look forward to revisiting it one day.
I headed up to my room on the third floor and was surprised at how spacious and clean it was. There’s a small kitchenette with a coffee maker. I mostly used just the refrigerator and coffee maker. Lots of closet space to stash my three days worth of clothing. The bathroom is everything I dream of in a hotel room. Space to lay out my toiletries, cosmetics and hair appliances. Super, squeaky clean. The bed was very comfortable with enough pillows to prop me up in bed to watch TV. Nice.
There is a lovely continental breakfast with enough choices to satisfy any guest. The coffee was especially good. The breakfast room itself was furnished with round, wood tables. So much nicer than the formica top tables of other hotels.
The outdoor areas around the interior courtyard were particularly nice for unwinding after a day at the beach, and we spent a couple of late evenings up on the open air widow’s walk, enjoying a glass of wine and a cigar. The staff was friendly and efficient, and there weren’t many other lodgers there during our stay, being after the season and after school was back in session.
Even though the hotel is located on the main thoroughfare, it’s located in a predominantly residential, and therefore quiet, neighborhood. The accompanying photo of the large tree with a lot of spanish moss dangling from it was taken from the third floor in the rear of the hotel. The attached restaurant, Bliss, is right next door, but we did not try it.
We highly recommend The Inlet Sports Lodge for your Murrells Inlet stay. It offers quality lodging, home away from home comfort, and a great value.
