Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Cyprus may face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Cyprus, and civil unions which grant several of the rights and benefits of marriage have been legal since December 2015.
Traditionally, the socially conservative Greek Orthodox Church has had significant influence over public opinion and politics regarding LGBT rights. However, ever since Cyprus sought membership in the European Union, it had to change its human rights legislation, including its laws regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. Attitudes towards members of the LGBT community are evolving and becoming increasingly more accepting and tolerant.
Nicosia has a long history of being a gay friendly town and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Bastione Bar is the most famous gay bar in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Nicosia, also known as Lefkosia, is the divided capital city of Cyprus. South of the border, on the Greek side, the Cyprus Museum has archaeological finds from the Neolithic to Byzantine periods, including the Aphrodite of Soloi statue. Nearby, the old city’s 16th-century Venetian walls include the Famagusta, Kyrenia and Paphos gates. Inside the walls, a marble mausoleum sits next to 19th-century Faneromeni Church.

Hypnos In Greek mythology, Hypnos (/ˈhɪpnɒs/; Greek: Υπνος, “sleep”) is the personification of sleep! ” Our Hypnos is a place of peace and comfort that always welcomes you with open arms. The sensation of peace in a cozy room makes you feel like home!
There is a very nice atmosphere in the hotel. The reception stuff is friendly and helpful.
The rooms a big enough modern and very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast card is small but you can find all you like. The toast with the eggs and haloumi are very delicious and to recommend.
This is a lovely, well looked after hotel with a modern interior. It is slightly out of the way from other things, but nothing hiring a car or being prepared to pay for a taxi wouldn’t change, and its only a short walk to some shops for snacks, drinks and food if needed. Staff were amazing, and helpful if we had any questions during our stay.
The room was refreshed daily, not only with toiletries but also a litre bottle of water which was great as meant we didn’t have to buy as much water as normal when we’re abroad so saved us money and trips to the shops. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast came with lots of continental choice, although it was the same on offer everyday there was enough there not to have to have the same everyday, they even had a waffle maker and made omelettes and poached eggs to your request.
Large bed, turned out to be two singles pushed together but you wouldn’t know, extremely comfortable. Air conditioning available in the room, good sized wardrobe, desk, two chairs, cupboards, fridge, proper hairdryer not one of those tiny ones or ones that are like a hand dryer, iron and board and a safe everything you could possibly need during your stay.
I stayed for 10 days mostly with my boyfriend but a couple of times he had to work so I stayed alone which was no issue in this hotel. It also had a good sized balcony with seating area. Couldn’t fault the hotel, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone else travelling to Nicosia.

The little extras were always noticeable such as the quince and chutneys with the cheese selections and a variety of specialty breads and pastries including olive bread and halloumi pies available.
This is now the only Hilton in Cyprus as the other has been taken over. I was upgraded to a king executive plus room which was spacious and modern. The executive lounge literally opened the night if my stay- a little way to go with what is offered but it was the first night after all. The new lounge itself is modern. Nd stylish. Breakfast was excellent. I recommend this hotel for both business and leisure.
he hotel is located a little outside of the city centre and about a forty minute drive from the Larnaca airport, LCA, and about an hour and a half from Paphos airport. The hotel has been a little dated but has undergone a major refurbishment and transformation from a 4 star to a 5 star hotel. There is plenty of parking around the hotel and it is easy to get to.
The lobby is spacious and well planned, and you have a business centre and restaurants and bar at lobby level. There is both Greek and an Asian cuisines available at the hotel. The bar also have an executive lounge section with food and drinks on demand which is excellent. During the summer there is a outside pool and a pool bar and restaurant, and off season the is a indoor pool and a jacuzzi in the Spa as well as a sauna and a steam room.
The Spa has a full range of treatments and a beauty salon. The gym is large and extensive with machines and equipment for most variations. The rooms are big and well planned as are the bathrooms, and some rooms have nice balconies which turns into a nice sundeck.

Explore the whole city on foot and then come back to MAP to enjoy the view. Spending a night away from home shouldn’t be part of your trip. It should be the highlight of your trip. Lighting. Bed. Artwork. View. Everything should be just right.
This is our design philosophy. Wonderful on Instagram, better experienced live. But room choice is never easy—especially when any room you choose is a complete design experience overlooking the 16th-century Venetian walls of Old Nicosia with lighting by Marset, furniture by Viccarbe, mattresses by Coco-Mat and body care by Elemis.
