Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Novi Sad Serbia (2024 Updated)

More and more gayfriendly clubs, bars and cafes are opening these days in Belgrade & Serbia as well gay friendly hotels Novi Sad.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Serbia may face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Serbia, and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in areas such as employment, education, media, and the provision of goods and services, amongst others, is banned. Nevertheless, households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples.

Novi Sad is a city in northern Serbia on the banks of the Danube River. Standing atop a riverside bluff, much of Petrovaradin Fortress dates to the 17th and 18th centuries, with an iconic clock tower and a network of tunnels. Across the river is the old quarter, Stari Grad, site of the Gothic Revival Name of Mary Church and the neo-Renaissance City Hall.

1. Sheraton Novi Sad 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels  Novi Sad

Sheraton Novi Sad
Sheraton Novi Sad

Sheraton Novi Sad features a restaurant, fitness centre, a bar and shared lounge in Novi Sad. Among the facilities at this property are a concierge service and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, room service and currency exchange for guests.

A buffet breakfast is available daily at the hotel.

Sheraton Novi Sad also provides a business centre and guests can check the newspapers, use the fax machine and photocopier or use the on-site ATM machine at the accommodation.

Probably one of the best Sheraton we have done, very comfortable room, great Spa area with Jacuzzi, Sauna, Hammam, experience shower and relaxation area. Very good gym as well with great’s views over Novi Sad. Club lounge is operating but with no service apart from coffee/tea/beer/water.

The service delivered to elite members was fantastic. Upgrade titanium to their One-Bedroom Suite which is absolutely amazing and generous size. Chopard amenities. A welcome amenity was even awaiting in the room, which is sadly becoming very rare in other properties since the merger Marriott / Starwood.

Breakfast is also on the plus side, and better quality and relaxed feeling than at Hilton or Metropol in Belgrade. More healthy options should be more than welcome. Highly recommend this property.

One of the nicest hotels in the city, it’s actually a landmark. A little out of the city centre but it’s only a 20 min walk. The area around is very quiet so there’s nothing much to do unless you walk closer to the centre.
I was upgraded to a suite and it was truly amazing. Very spacious, super clean, and elegant decor. The views are breathtaking. The gym on the top floor is well equipped and has the same amazing views.
The staff were very polite and hospitable.

Upon arrival it was apparent that The Sheraton was superbly appointed and immaculately clean. Check in was friendly and efficient with no waiting around. The rooms were spacious, finished to a high a standard with a fresh modern feel. Every single member of staff we spoke to was happy, friendly and polite. We were made to feel very welcome indeed.

The bar and restaurant area was very nice. We had breakfast included in our stay. There was lots of choice – perfect for adults. The hotel was a convenient 5 minute cab ride from Novi Sad centre, and also the shopping malls on the outskirts of town. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Sheraton and would happily stay there again.

The hotel is somewhat out of center and on a main road leading to the motorway. Access to center easy by taxi or about 30 min walk. The building is modern and not attractive. However, the rooms are very comfortable and in good shape. Beds and showers are excellent. Gym and spa are also excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

. Since the hotel only opened two years ago the hardware is in excellent condition with good quality furniture such as leather sofas and nice hardwood floors. The dining room could accommodate 6 people at the table and there was a small kitchen nearby although no cooking equipment in the cupboards. The living room was very large and had a small terrace outside but too narrow for sitting – it was just for standing and probably useful mostly for smokers. There was a half bath near the living room in addition to the main bathroom which was very expansive including the large shower with excellent water pressure.

There were floor to ceiling windows (or frosted glass for privacy) in the bathroom so the room had great natural light and you could enjoy the views of the city from there. Bathroom amenities were Chopard for a more upscale touch than in the regular Sheraton rooms which have Le Grand Bain products. Overall the entire suite was tastefully decorated particularly for a hotel of this kind and we appreciated the local sparkling wine for a welcome gift.

2. Arhiv Boutique House 4* – LGBT Friendly Hotels Novi Sad

Arhiv Boutique House
Arhiv Boutique House

Set in Novi Sad, 1 km from SPENS Sports Centre, Arhiv offers accommodation with a restaurant, free private parking, a bar and a terrace. Among the facilities at this property are room service and valet parking, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The inn has family rooms.

All guest rooms come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a kettle, a shower, a hairdryer and a desk. At the inn the rooms are equipped with a wardrobe and a private bathroom.

Continental and buffet breakfast options are available every morning at Arhiv.

Inside a 150-year-old building which is under the protection of the Institute of Monument Preservation, there is a renovated, well-designed, family-owned hotel Arhiv. The rooms are extremely spacious, bright, with high ceilings, old beams and chimneys and other recognizable details.

Our minimalistic design will make you feel fresh, relaxed, and restful. Within the hotel, only a few steps downstairs, you can visit the exclusive restaurant Arhiv which is one of the most famous places in Novi Sad, renowned for its specific mix of the Mediterranean and Vojvodina cuisine style.

Even though hotel Arhiv is placed in the very center of Novi Sad, it is situated in a quiet zone. Arhiv is an ideal option if you are staying in Novi Sad. Its location is its biggest advantage since it is located right next to the central pedestrian zone and the main street Zmaj Jovina, river Danube and the Petrovaradin Fortress.

It is so closed to city center. Room is big, clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is served at their restaurant downstair which is standard. Wifi connection is good. Reception open till 21:00. You have card to open out door if you come late.

From outside, you will be a bit anxious, but you will be paid back from your stay. Totally new, very clean, with perfect, earth-friendly decoration. But the biggest advantage of Arhiv is its location, in the heart of the town. Breakfast is decent, but not something special. Everyone is very friendly and ready to improve, so don’t hesitate to share your comments. 100% Value for money choice.

Big large tall rooms totally equipped. Everything cleaned spotless, comfortable bed, good position of AC in the room, nice bathroom, super big shower area and even cosmetics are really good. Location is practically the best and it has a private parking.

The people are as in almost all places here very nice and kind and below the hotel there is also a restaurant with good food. Breakfast is rich and also fresh and tasty. So I totally recommend this place!

All rooms feature cable TV, a safe, minibar and work desk. Extra long beds are provided in each room. The bathrooms are fitted with hydro-massage showers, while suites feature spa baths.

The front desk staff is available 24 hours a day. Leopold I Garni Hotel is 200 m from the Varadin Bridge, while the Republic Square and the Cathedral of Saint George can be reached with a 15-minute walk.

Situated on the right bank of the Danube, in the very heart of Petrovaradin Fortress, Hotel Leopold I offers luxurious accommodation in a Renaissance building with views on the Danube and Novi Sad. Every room at Hotel Leopold I has been magnificently decorated and appointed with seating areas, air conditioning and panoramic views. All rooms provide free wired internet access.

Hotel Leopold I features several bars and restaurants on site, including a restaurant serving Serbian food and a terrace restaurant overlooking the Danube and Novi Sad. Free Wifi is available in public areas. The hotel is just 200 metres from the Varadin Bridge. On the left bank, Republic Square and the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George can be reached within a 15-minute walk.

his is a quirky place to stay while touring Serbia. We wanted to stay somewhere in the northern part of the country, and the Leopold I is located right in the fortress. It is decorated like an old palace, and is very clean and quiet. The room and bath were both quite small.

Great setting in the old fortress and extremely well decorated reception and rooms. Good in-room facilities with extra heaters as it was pretty cold outside. The spa area was OK and we had to book a time so that the water and sauna could be heated. The restaurant had a good selection although fairly pricey by Serbian standards.

The service was fairly laid-back and reactive – could have been more attentive. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Really good to leave the hotels and walk round the fortress and along the walls. Great views and a nice couple of local bars nearby within the walls where you can get a beer, crepe, ice-cream etc. Loved staying here.

The hotel is situated at the top of the 17th century Petrovaradin Fortress and has amazing view (we got river view room). Although the hotel is old it is very well kept – it is luxurious and the rooms are spotless. Hotel surroundings with restaurants and cafes are great too. Staff was absolutely nice and breakfast delicious. If we visit Novi Sad again we will definitely stay there again.

This hotel impressed me for many reasons. First, position, peace and quiet with a magnificent view of the city at sunset, quality of service, ambience and friendliness of staff.

Positioned in the central part of the fortress is fantastic, and the man can get a sense of uniqueness.
In the evening there is a beautiful view of the city and the terrace of the hotel really is the perfect place to relax after a long day.

Breakfast was rich and varied, and the thing that really impressed me is the possibility of ordering a la carte dishes from their menu for breakfast.

The hotel has a private spa and massages on offer, as well as a fitness center, which is great for relaxing. Spa is an excellent, small romantic room with two hot tubs and a Finnish sauna. Complimentary drink on the house furthermore made a stronger feeling of pleasure. This place really stands out from the average hotel I have ever visited in Serbia.

The rooms are decorated in the style of the building, regardless of the heavy drapes and antique furniture, general feeling is that these are well maintained and cleanliness is on high level. I used a junior suite overlooking the river, the bed was really comfortable and I slept very well, I stayed for two days.
WIFI was very good, after I realized that there are more points of connection (probably because the walls are thicker than half a meter).

This place i will visit again for sure every time when I come to Novi Sad.
