Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Ostend Belgium (2023 Updated)

Belgium has frequently been referred to as one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world and no wander can find a few gay friendly hotels Ostend.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in Belgium are seen as some of the most progressive in Europe and in the world. Same-sex sexual activity was legalised in 1795, with an equal age of consent, except from 1965 until 1985. After granting same-sex couples domestic partnership benefits in 2000, Belgium became the second country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage in 2003. Same-sex adoption was fully legalised in 2006 under the same terms and conditions as heterosexual adoption, and lesbian couples can access IVF as well.

Ostend is a city on the Belgian coast. It’s known for its long beach and promenade. Docked in the marina, the Mercator is a 3-masted 1930s ship that now acts as a floating museum. The Mu.ZEE displays Belgian art from the 1830s onward. The neo-Gothic–style Church of St. Peter and St. Paul has soaring spires and distinctive stained-glass windows. Near the harbor, Fort Napoleon is a 5-sided fortification built in 1811.

We came for just a couple of days, this was the best value option, and the room was just what we needed. It was bigger than some other, much more expensive options! Everything seemed clean, and above all the staff were always really kind, accommodating and attentive to our needs.

Also it is located across the street from the center with lots of bars, restaurants and shopping and is a 3-4 minute walk to the beach.

The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. As typical in Belgium, the hotel room was on the small side but since we did not spend a lot of time in the room, this was not a problem. The shower was fantastic. The bed and pillows is to one’s taste. I found them to be quite comfortable while my husband did not as they were both quite soft.

If there is one complaint, it would be that I am not sure that breakfast is worth 13 Euro but compared to other hotels in the area, the price is average. I just felt that a bit more could have been offered as in other hotels such as toast or sausages but again, this is a complaint if I had to give one.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Hotel Prado was an excellent choice for our weekend stay. Centrally located, friendly and welcoming front desk staff, and a clean and spacious room all made for a great visit. Very comfortable bed and a clean, well equipped bathroom. Enjoyed having coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Plenty of restaurants and retail shops. A lovely hotel in a delightful city.

Hotel was excellent. Rooms were very spacious and of a high standard of cleanliness. Lovely comfy beds. Coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Bathrooms very roomy. Breakfast buffet was very good, plenty of everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ideally situated for the Christmas market and the shops. Will definitely come here again.

The hotel is extremely clean and decorated in a modern style. The room is very spacious and clean, with a nice bathroom and a good bed. The staffs are the best always helpful and pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.

Nicely located just of the seafront we really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was modern, comfortable and had a bathroom with a lovely walk in shower. All the public areas are very clean, the breakfast is very good and we think this is the best hotel we have stayed at in Ostend. When we return to Ostend we will stay here.Recommended.

Breakfast was included in the price, it was generous, self service, fresh and delicious. All staff were very polite and helpful. There is parking opposite the hotel, which I booked when I booked our rooms which cost 15 Euros a day – in my opinion it’s well worth the money if you drive there. I will definitely go there again.

The room was spacious and very modern in layout and design. For the price it was a steal. There is a room for the kids to play in, with lots of toys and play items.

The bar was very nice with comfortable chairs and lots of power sockets so we could charge laptop and phone whilst enjoying a Belgium beer.

The hotel is is very smart and the staff could not be more welcoming and helpful. We had booked a car park space and valet parking made it very easy.
Situated a short walk away from some excellent restaurants and bars this really was a good choice.
The bedroom was spacious and the bed comfy. I also had with a safe, fridge plus ample room for clothes.

his hotel is perfect for a short trip (or even longer) to the Belgian coast. It is close to everything, at only one block from the beach.

We had an ecology room and it was great. Very comfortable, very clean…The breakfast was also good, the service too.

Stayed here enroute to Calais, street parking available outside, large reception and blunt but polite welcome by reception. Strange room with two bathrooms and no doors, old carpets and fixtures. But clean and tidy. We used the pool and sauna area, which was clean and nice pool is a bit dark! But it was ok.
Windows open and quite street until bin men arrived. V good breakfast in very smart breakfast room. Hotel offered bike route which we did around Ostend, strange but likeable place.

I would stay here again but be prepared for a strange experience.

The hotel is perfectly located, just a short walk to the beach or to the shopping parts of town.
We are very pleased with the service from the staff and the room was fresh and clean.

The bar in the hotel is very good with a wide selection of whisky’s. We will for sure stay at Hotel Bero the next time we visit Oostende.

Room was clean with good air conditioning. Bed wasn’t so comfortable for me. (Personal opinion)
Lovely breakfast room with a huge selection of food and staff very cheerful.

Parking was a bit of an issue so after getting information from hotel staff in advance we decided to park in Gent and take the train. Hotel was just a 10 minute walk from the station.

On the rocks bar has a huge selection of whisky which my hubby was delighted with and the lounge area is nicely decorated and welcoming.

Only thing I didn’t realise in advance is that there is no restaurant in the hotel, however plenty of places out and about you are spoiled for choice.
