Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Pucon Chile

Santiago is the capital city of Chile and a is one of the  gay-friendliest place in South America along with Pucon in Patagonia. We will find most of the accomodation to be suitable for gay couples in Gay Friendly Hotels Pucon.

The LGBT community in Chile has gained some rights in recent years. In 2012 it was approved the anti-discrimination law that includes sexual orientation and gender identity as protected categories. The law penalizes the arbitrary discrimination, allows citizens to file anti-discrimination lawsuits and requires the State to develop public policies to end discrimination.

Pucón is a town in central Chile’s Lake District, lying on Lake Villarrica overlooked by the snow-capped Villarrica volcano. An adventure tourism hub, it’s renowned for access to hiking trails, water sports, white-water rafting and kayaking as well as skiing and snowboarding. The surrounding terrain ranges from lakeside beaches to temperate rainforest. Natural hot springs are found in nearby forested valley.

Located in the picturesque Araucanía region of Chile’s Lake District, homeland of the courageous Mapuche people, is a spectacular 22-hectare (34-acre) estate: Vira Vira. Dramatic landscapes of breathtaking glacial lakes mirror the snowy tips of nearby volcanoes, while within the rainforests gracing the surrounding national parks, evergreen Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle) trees, some over 1 000 years old, stand tall.

This region is both the gateway to Patagonia, and a thrilling adventure haven. Immersed on an expansive, forested estate with 822 m (2,696 ft) of river frontage and breathtaking views of the snow-capped Villarica Volcano, this magnificent wooden lodge is themed in beauty.

Enormous windows frame exquisite outlooks, while vibrant wall tapestries, hand-woven textiles and other traditional artefacts colour the interior décor. Signature features include a modern working farm, organic farm-to-table vegetable garden, on-site boutique cheese factory and two outdoor hot tubs.

Ideally appointed accommodation, overlooking either the estate surrounds or the Liucura River, includes six cosy suites, 12 split-level villas with a separate living room, and a five-bedroom, sole-use Hacienda for up to 10 guests. Ensuite bathrooms include a separate bath and walk-in shower. Floor to ceiling windows fills the spacious wooden interiors with natural light. Each guest unit is individually decorated with a selection of curated objects and richly-textured rugs, wall hangings and fabric.

This is an outstanding property with all staff committed to making sure guests receive the best experience possible. Surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens and fronted by a small lake, fringed by a well maintained rural environment, beside a pristine river, this location is peaceful and relaxing the moment you arrive. From the warm welcome through to departure, every aspect of the stay exceeded expectations. Common areas are spacious for relaxation, the location of tables for meals well planned, overall guest amenities excellent.

We stayed in a suite in the main building, it had loads of space and had a superbly large and well designed ensuite. Light and airy, with outdoor balcony seating overlooking the property, the room had positive karma! Of the numerous properties we stayed over 4 weeks in Chile, the chef and the kitchen at Vira Vira was one at the top of the scale. A wonderful menu selection of superbly presented and tasty food. With a terrific range and array of activities on offer, with your personal guide, in an area that offers adventure, leisure, culture and wellness opportunities, no day here is boring – there is something for any interest. The personal touches and ‘surprises’ just went that level above the norm. If wanting for a top of the range stay, we strongly recommend &Beyond Vira Vira.

From the moment you arrive, – greeted with fresh warm towels and a welcome drink – till the moment you leave this is the experience of a lifetime. From superb villa accommodation, peaceful surroundings, restaurant offering only home-grown organic food from their own garden, even so many different cheeses made in their small cheese factory, and only for their guests not for sale to anyone else. The service was impeccable, from management to cleaning staff.

The rosemary bubble bath with champagne on ice and candles on the last afternoon was totally unexpected. Outside there were waterfalls to be visited, floating downriver to be met with coffee and cookies at the end, and the beautiful scenery, mountains and volcanoes.

The rooms and public spaces are elegantly decorated in an organic way that is warm, cozy, beautiful and clean. The food is delicious and original with unexpected flavors and beautifully presented. Our guide Eddy was exceptional leaving no stone unturned. Every evening we would meet with Eddy to discuss what we wanted to do the following day.

He also provided excellent suggestions based on his knowledge of the area. Every day was a great adventure of hiking, snowshoeing, eating, rafting, touring the on-sight cheese factory and relaxing…all with a touch of class. The picnic in the snow blew us away…delicious and healthy sandwiches, snacks served in wood bowls the best hot chocolate ever served in beautiful earthen wear.
