Great, waterfront hotel, just outside the city centre, located in one of the largest buildings in The Netherlands.
Very welcoming reception team, rooms really clean, modern and well equipped with comfortable beds, glass fronted en-suite bathroom with massive bath and shower (don’t panic, the toilet is behind opaque panels!). Windows are from floor to ceiling with a small opening section for fresh air, but this increases street noise as trams are not far away. Heating and air-conditioning very efficient.
Our 18th floor room has a lovely view of the river Maas and Noordereiland.
The buffet breakfast is simply amazing – you will be spoilt for choice whether you are vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or eat anything. Lactose free milk and gluten free items available too. Some egg dishes cooked to order by friendly helpful chef.
The hotel is about 25 mins walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station, and easy to reach by metro (lines D/E, station Wilhelminaplein) or tram 12,20,23,25. Well located too for New Luxor Theatre & Rotterdam Ahoy (Concert venue, use metro lines D/E).
It’s centrally located and there are a lot of great restaurants in the area within walking distance and that sure was nice not having to drive around each night in search of some good places to eat. Everyone that worked at the hotel that we encountered couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful!
The morning breakfast is well worth the money and the variety of food and drinks is absolutely amazing. The rooms are quiet and I didn’t hear any of the neighboring rooms and that’s always a huge plus! You also get some really nice views of the city as well and that’s a nice little bonus too! Next time I’m in Rotterdam, I’ll be staying here once again.
The room has a very pleasant climate control, and even a small part of the window that opens. The bathroom has glass walls, if you are with your partner, you will not mind being watched while showering, otherwise you might want to check this with the hotel reception beforehand. The bedding is lovely and the room has all the amenities we wish for. The breakfast at the hotel is amazing, you can go all ways: sweet, healthy, eggs in many different forms. All and all we want to stay here again.

Excellent rooms, staff attitude and service. Very good location next to the Erasmus bridge, a short walk to lots of bars and restaurants.
Metro station right outside the hotel, next to a restored quayside, with pedestrian walkway. Water taxi also calls outside. And hire bikes too.
Oh. And very good breakfast too. I have stayed here many times on business and pleasure. Excellent service, really good staff.
Closer to Erasmus bridge and tourist attractions such as harbor cruise, tower, Witte Hus.
Shopping area is about 15 minutes on foot. Tram & metro is easy to use but expensive; best to get a day pass at reception. Spa hotel with convenient long opening hours. But is small so not so relaxing when people pass to get to massage, pool, and not many lounges that are too close together. Nice modern rooms.
This sleek ultra modern hotel is situated right outside a subway stop and is steps from the water, with views of the Erasmus Bridge and a short walk to the Cool District with its restaurants and shops. Rooms are spacious and several have great views.
The A/C and heat work well, the bathrooms are big and easy to keep clean, the TV is HD and the beds are really comfortable. It’s also got a spa with a pool, sauna and steam room, and restaurants in its lower lobby. The front desk delivered reliable service, room service delivered decent food. Room furnishings include a fully functional well lit desk. No complaints from me. I would rebook in a heartbeat.
Relatively new hotel close to the heart of Rotterdam and situated in the former harbors of Rotterdam. Close to Erasmus bridge and Kop van Zuid where all modern architecture is. Close to Koopgoot (shopping area), Markthal, museum quarter. The hotel has nice views on the city and has a nice wellness area with sauna, steam-room and different treatments. You can cross to inntel hotel by same owner to make use of their swimming pool.
We had a hotel room which was spacious and had its own sauna. The closet space is not overly much. Friendly staff. The hotel has no free parking space, valet parking is Eur 35 per day.
The Mainport is a 5 star hotel near the Erasmus Bridge and easily walkable to attractions. It is linked to the Innitel, a 4 star hotel belonging to the same group.
This is honestly the best hotel I have ever stayed in, in Europe. The lobby is most impressive and airy. The restaurant and bar is in the basement, with an outside area overlooking the water.
The bar is on the pricey side, but this is to be expected for a 5 star hotel. Breakfast is a fantastic affair, with a live omelette station, full English fare and heaps of continental options.
The rooms are the defining characteristic of this hotel. With a coffee machine, minibar and flatscreen tv, this room comes with the standard amenities. The rooms are large with a corridor. It has a separate wc and shower room. The shower room has a walk in shower and a separate whirlpool bath. The mirror in the bathroom doubles up as a tv.
The bed is the most comfortable hotel bed I have experienced and the views from the room are stunning.
The Mainport is an excellent gay friendly hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Hotel the James is smack in the middle of Rotterdam. Just meters away from de Bijenkorf department store and de Lijnbaan (most important shopping street of Rotterdam).
The hotel has a nice feel to it. Rooms are a bit small. Even though we got a free upgrade. But the bed is fine, airco works, shower is great and they have a 24 hour service were you can pick up a couple of bottles of beer for decent prices.
We had a nice stay and will probably choose the James the next time we need to spend the night in Rotterdam.
The Economic Double room of Hotel The James is just perfect. It’s clean, modern, private, very comfortable king size bed and spacious. It has a half separate space in the room to relax and read in a comfortable chair. It has a table where you can do your make-up or do some business. An electric kettle for tea was a pleasure. Also a smart tv with a lot of channels. The bathroom is also modern with a good shower and rain shower.
If you like to shop, The James is in the middle of all shops and close to many eateries. There is a good chinese restaurant across the street. My room at the 12th floor was just perfect and quiet. The price is very affordable and true worth it. Tram and metro within a few minute walk, around the corner. I would definitely stay here again! Rotterdam is so much fun and The James is the place you want to be when you like shopping and relaxing for a good price.
The hotel is located in commercial district so close by there are a lot of restaurants, shopping street and tram/metro stations. The room’s layout I stayed for 3 nights is not the best but it is clean, well kept and modern with smart TV and coffee machine. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but there is a self-service convenience store which open 24 hrs and the price is reasonable. Front desk staff is very friendly and professional and always available to help.
