Rovinj is a Croatian fishing port on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The old town stands on a headland, with houses tightly crowded down to the seafront and gay friendly hotels Rovinj. A tangle of cobbled streets leads to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia, whose towering steeple dominates the skyline. South of the old town is Lone Bay, one of the area’s pebble beaches. The Rovinj archipelago’s 14 islands lie immediately off the mainland.
Affordability. As mentioned earlier, Rovinj is definitely the biggest tourist draw in Istria and it has prices to match. Therefore, it is noticeably more expensive to visit and stay there than Pula — with prices much more akin to those you will find in other, more popular European destinations.

1. Villa Marea 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Rovinj
Villa Marea is only 150 m from the entrance to the Cuvi Natural Park and 300 m from the sea and the famous Cuvi Bay in Rovinj. It provides free Wi-Fi in public areas.
The air-conditioned accommodation features furnished terraces and views of the Villa’s outdoor swimming pool.
The historical old town is only a 20-minute walk from the Marea. The Villa’s position close to the beach and the natural park makes it a great starting point to explore the natural surroundings.
This guesthouse is a newly-built villa in one of the most popular districts of Rovinj. We are located 150 meters from the entrance of the Cuvi Natural Park, and 300 meters from the beautiful and famous Cuvi Bay and beach. It is only a ten-minute walk to the historical center of Rovinj.
. The rooms are very comfortable and immaculately clean – we enjoyed sitting on our balcony every evening, sipping cold wine! The pool area is a great place to relax and very well maintained – we were very lucky to have it to ourselves! Breakfast, at the Villa Marea, is delicious and well worth taking, with a free hot drinks machine twenty four hours a day.
Beautiful villa, a bit outside the Rovinj old town, in a nice are of villas. Actually, it takes 20 minutes of walk to the old town, but only 5 minutes to lovely Cuvi beach. The villa is beautiful. Our room was at the ground level, big and clean, good bathroom and nice terrace surrounded by trees and flowers. Very, very pleasant. The villa also has a nice – though not big – swimming pool. The breakfast was also good, with good selection of food that we enjoyed at the restaurant, sitting outside. The staff very friendly and efficient.
Really nice clean apartment within a complex of about 10 apartments. The pool was lovely and clean and we had it to ourselves most of the time we were there.
The apartment itself is a 5 minute walk to the beach and about 20 minutes walk to the old town. There’s a supermarket less than 5 minutes away which was really handy for us.
We really loved Rovinj, it is just the most picturesque place to visit. Having a relaxing drink by the little harbour watching the sunset was fantastic – it’s a really underrated place!
Villa Marea was not difficult to locate with our GPS, you would just have to take note for Villa Marea when you are on the street of Vukovarska. As mentioned by most of the reviewers, the beach is a 5-7 min walk (depending on your speed) but it is a nice walk as you would be walking along nature. If you do not want to head to the beach, there is a small pool area at Villa Marea as an alternative option. The old town centre whereby all the hustle and bustle is would be about a 25 min walk but we drove to the city centre (5min) and there is a huge parking space (on the right) when driving towards the old town.
ROOM: We were upgraded to the newly updated ‘apartment’ on the 1st level which is relatively huge – 2 bathrooms, 1 living room with attached kitchenette and a balcony, 1 bedroom. The overall facility is very clean and if you are not too fussy, they provide a shower gel that also act as a shampoo. Personally, I don’t really like the towels as it was a little rough and felt like the floor linen however as it was only a short stay and I’m cool with it. If you are really fussy, consider bringing your own towels then.
BEACH: Do not expect a sandy beach and you can select any part of the (stone/pebble) beach along the stretch which is connected to other Villas (such as Vila Rubin) so there are quite a few beach goers though not crazily packed. Most were family and elderly couples, and there is a naturist zone as well if you need to get that well-even tan.
FOOD: We had our meals at MAESTRAL located in the Old town.. facing a magnificent view especially sunset view. Food is reasonably price consider to what we would pay in Italy for the same, and the portion is rather huge.
STAFF: The staff we met were very friendly and hospitable and spoke fluent Italian and English.
In conclusion, Villa Marea would definitely be our choice to stay again when we are back in Rovin.

The waterfront and Old Town are within easy walking distance, as are the beaches, and why anyone would pay a fortune for a lounger and a parasol, when you can lie by the pool at the Arupinum for nothing.
The location is excellent with the old town and all the restaurants an easy walk of about 15 minutes away. It is also VERY close to a lovely park for after-dinner strolling. Our room was spotless and the bathroom was large with an excellent shower. The dining area was very welcoming and a nice place to sit with a glass of wine. Breakfast had a HUGE variety of food and will set you up nicely for a day of walking the old town.
A very smart boutique hotel with 20 rooms. Bright, spacious and tastefully decorated.
Our room was on the second floor, with a balcony overlooking the pool and garden area – perfect. The bathroom was well equipped with a separate bath and shower. The bathroom has a clear glass window into the bedroom area, which allows for natural light to shine in (there is also a privacy curtain in the bedroom if required).
The reception area/bar/restaurant has been cleverly designed to flow between the 3 areas. Again this area is bright and spacious, and modernly decorated.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices to keep everyone happy. We didn’t take any evening meals during our stay but what we did see other guests having looked very good.
All staff -reception, waiting and housekeeping were very polite and helpful. The pool area is well maintained with sunbeds and parasols.
Restaurants and bars are only a ten minute walk away with the Old Town area being about 20 minutes away – great for an evening stroll.
It’s an easy walk into town or to the waterside and proximity to the National Park with its delightful ales and coastline is attractive for walking or cycling.

Very good staff. Good breakfast. Excellent location. B&B easy to find from main bus station. Walk down pedestrian street in front of station to end. Take 2nd left into main plaza. 1st right under arch to Main Street up to church. Bear right when walking up. B&B 2/3 up hill.
Very nice accommodation. Breakfast is good with made to order egg dishes. Room was nice, good size with comfortable bed. Note you have to walk up Grisia (narrow main street) which is steep. If you pack heavy, this may not be your hotel. I enjoyed my stay and recommend this Gay friendly B&B.

Featuring an impeccable blend of beauty, luxury and cultural heritage, the hotel offers fine dining restaurants and bars, exquisite entertainment programmes and an extensive Wellness & Spa centre.
he location of the hotel is perfect. Far enough from town to be quiet at night but close enough to be a short, pleasant walk into town. A seafront promenade takes you directly to town with a “grand reveal” of the old town across the bay when you turn a corner. There is a pebble beach to the rear of the hotel and a forest park literally yards away where you can walk or cycle. We couldn’t fault the location at all.
Rovinj itself is beautiful. It is lively, full of restaurants, bars and shops in a medieval jumble of alleyways and side streets. We spent days exploring it. It is our favourite destination now which is pretty good going for what was an impulsive, late booking after a random conversation with a colleague. We will definitely return to Rovinj and the Lone will be top of the list for hotels to stay in when we do.
Rovinj has much to offer. Charming streets filled with quaint shops, bars, restaurants…stunning blue Adriatic with breathtaking views and beaches. Hotel Lone, located just outside the old town, provides a complimenting contrast with its modern architecture. Service is truly attentive, world-class and professional. Beautifully landscaped pathway to the pool and private beach, delicious Croatian cuisine offered in its restaurants, lovely and airy rooms are just some of the highlights here.
Hotel Lone is a large, modern and clean hotel right on the edge of Lone Bay to the south of Rovinj Old Town.
The room we had was extremely comfortable, although we were upgraded from a Premium room to a Suite on the 5th floor which meant we had plenty of extra space! The room had wonderfully soft carpets throughout. The only (very minor) criticism was there weren’t any USB charging points in the room, but I guess the hotel is a few years old now.
There is a small car park (accessible by room key) just within the hotel complex which is free to use. The hotel also offers garage parking at €15 a night, but for a hire car we didn’t feel the need to pay to park!
Hotel Lone is part of the Maistra Collection group of hotels, and Maistra are currently building a brand new hotel (Grand Park Hotel) just around the corner which looks to be even more impressive.
Make sure you have a walk around the beautiful park/forest right by the hotel – lovely and shady by the trees, and some amazing coves to relax by the water too.
The room is spacious and beautifully designed, also the bathroom with walk- in shower and bathtub.
The beach area is wonderful with lounge chairs, shady trees and a huge and beautiful pool area.
The King Size bed very comfortable, slept like a baby.
Our room was spacious with a large bathroom and balcony, the décor simple but comfortable. I found the hotel to be peaceful and tranquil, with a feeling of being enveloped within the forest – so unusual for a hotel of this size and close to the town, around a 15 minute stroll. Soundproofing was excellent. Bear in mind that although drinks can be purchased via room service and at the lobby bar there are no tea and coffee making facilities in premium rooms.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, there was food on offer to suit every taste and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The volcano eggs were a highlight! There was also a separate area for kids on low tables which I imagine would be very well received although my toddler was a little too young. If there was one criticism, it would be that there are limited tables outside (particularly for more than 2 people). I generally tried to get down to breakfast before 8am, after this time the outdoor tables were usually taken.
Wellness and SPA have excellent offer included in price of the room. Massages are payable but worth every “penny” because it is done by physiotherapist.

The hotel itself is totally accommodating in every aspect, with comfortable, clean and classy rooms, the shower is something else I have to say!! The bar and restaurants serve great food and drinks, the breakfast has a fantastic choice to suit all tastes. The pool outside looks great although we managed to stay during 10 days of overcast weather so couldn’t appreciate it as we would have liked, however there was plenty of things to do locally. The walks in the park areas are superb as is the walk along the front to the old town.
Stayed at this boutique property for two nights during our two week holiday to Croatia. Easily one of the better properties in the country. Luxurious rooms with pretty amazing bathrooms, comfortable beds and a very nice balcony. A coffee and tea setup would be the only thing missing. The staff was professional, if a bit cold and too impersonal. Breakfast was amazing with Istrian specialties on the buffet as well as a giant selection of made to order items.
f you are looking for an elegant, comfortable and modern hotel in Rovinj then the Monte Mulini fits the bill perfectly. Staff are friendly, breakfasts are amazing and the restaurant food is too die for. There are 3 pools and a large beach area with an amazing bar. Do remember to bring your thongs though as the beach is made of pebbles and not soft sand. Having said that, the water is clear and a beautiful turquoise and the water temperature in mid September was still pleasant enough for swimming. Rooms on the upper levels have amazing sea views and wonderful sunsets can be seen from their balconies. The rooms are spacious with big baths as well as showers and nicely decorated.
Wifi in the room can be a little frustrating so a stroll to the bar may be needed for uninterrupted Skype calls and there is no tennis court (although one is available near by) but the hotel is otherwise perfect.
The walk to the old city will take about 20 mins and after a big meal and some great Italian ice cream in the town, the stroll back will often be most welcome.
The hotel has a small boutique selling classy Italian fashion items and a chat to Chiara who runs the shop will leave you feeling like you have known her forever.
