Guests can enjoy a wide variety of dishes, from International Cuisine to our top level traditional food, such as the popular “Llao Llao Tea” which is served overlooking the spectacular view of the Hotel gardens and the breathtaking Nahuel Huapi Lake. This property lives up to the word Iconic.

The charm and hospitality of this hotel are unrivaled anywhere and the service is both discrete and superlative. The charm and history of the hotel makes it feel like you are going back in time in the best of ways, and the surrounding nature and endless vistas are indescribable even with pictures. My entire stay every need was anticipated, the facilities were spotless, and the ski valet at the Refugio in Cerro Catedral made my winter sport experience second to none.

It’s the iconic hotel/resort in the area perched on a hilltop between two crystal clear lakes. Breakfast is included and served in a grand room with views of mountains and lakes. It was built in 1940 so there’s an old Lodge type appearance with creaky wooden floors and wooden artifacts. It is a little distance to the city but there are several good restaurants in the area. I highly recommend Il Gabbiano’s. The boat dock is adjacent to the hotel to take you to Victoria island. Don’t expect the typical modern hotel room with large granite countertops in the bathrooms, etc. This is a rustic old world hotel that you must experience.

Included in the room rate are indoor and outdoor amenities. The water sports rental area is neatly kept and easy to access. There is a wide range of activities to do all day – nature walk, pilates, yoga, fitness ball, windsurfing, archery, rappelling, etc. Other activities cost extra but well worth the money – our fishing guide as well as our hiking guide were professional and charming with excellent English.

Staying in the newer Moreno Building made our stay perfect. These are some of the finest hotel rooms in the world- ours had a two person whirlpool tub with windows and views on three sides….just spectacular.

The original hotel building is very charming and iconic. Inside it’s warm and and cozy, even in it’s grand scale. I can’t comment on the quality of the rooms in this older building…but i imagine they would be smaller, louder/creakier and have less impressive views…so not sure if these would be a good value, or not.

We used the spa and fitness facility and both were nice and well adequate. Happy hour was great, but the food in the Patagonia restaurant was just so-so. The complimentary breakfast was very nice.

My partner of 25 years and I celebrated our anniversary at Llao Llao this week, and although I was wrong about how to pronounce it (think Zsa Zsa Gabor, but with an ‘ow’ like WOW), this place knocked our socks off. We had a room in the Moreno wing with a view to die for. To be quite honest neither of us wanted to leave at all. The staff was very gay-friendly (as is all of Argentina, really) and they wished us Happy Anniversary all day long on our special day. We very much liked breakfast but the walking tour along the grounds and the lake was a highlight. I’m hoping we can make it back to celebrate our 50th. Loved you, LLAO LLAO.

2. Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels San Carlos de Bariloche

Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa offers exclusive bungalows overlooking Nahuel Huapi Lake, only 12 km from Catedral Ski Center. The property offers plush rooms with private hot tubs. Spa facilities include an outdoor heated pool.

Boasting balconies with stunning lake views, rooms at Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa feature plasma TVs and minibars. They have gabled wooden roofs and tiled floors. Most have a home theatre and a private spa with aroma and ozone therapy. A stone fireplace and heated flooring are available too.

Ski lessons can be booked and both ski storage and ski equipment are available. Spa facilities include a hammam, a sauna and 2 hot tubs.

Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa, built on the bluff of a cliff, delights with panoramic vistas of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the Andes mountains range. The lodge’s wood and stone work is reminiscent of a small alpine village. The large balconies of each residence and suite are suspended over the bluff. Just below, the waves crash upon Playa Bonita and the sides of the cliff. The hotel’s interior is just as unique. Total comfort is offered in the Private Spas that form part of each suite.

One can choose between a dry sauna, a double jacuzzi with ozone therapy and an LCD TV, a scottish shower, and a finnish shower with aroma color therapy. Each of these options are integrated into each suite, allowing the guest total control over his or her relaxation. Charming is a place designed to astonish its guests with its beauty, luxury, tranquility, comfort, unforgettable views, and amiable service.

The hotel is quite near the city centre and the Cerro Catedral. There are also nearby restaurants with delicious food. I do recommend Stag to lunch the ” Ojo de bife” or the “cordero” which I did find very exquisite.

The hotel has some spectacular views as it sits upon the bluffs overlooking Lake Nahuel Huapi and has walkable access to its own beach (playa) and its own warm heated pool! It truly is a luxury lodge with big rooms and bathrooms. The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful. In fact, Roberto at the front desk helped us with some tips regarding hikes. Every member of the front desk staff helped us with questions, helped us call restaurants for reservations, or called us cabs whenever needed.

They also provide free wifi and free breakfast with hot items which further adds to its value and allows you to power up before daily excursions/hiking! The location of the hotel is also great as it is near some great restaurants – Butterfly (very short walk), Las Morillas (very short walk), and La Salamandra Pulperia (walk or very short cab ride). The hotel location makes it easy to get into the city to try other restaurants/chocolate/bars or head out to the various hiking excursions/viewpoints such as Cerro Catedral, Cerro Campanario, Cerro Otto, or all the way out the Llao Llao Peninsula. Bariloche is an amazing place full of beauty and tranquility. And staying at the Charming is the perfect mix of luxury, location, and value!!

TIP: Room 13 has the best view of any of the standard rooms, although with the incredible views from the common areas, sauna, and pool area we found the view from the room a nice bonus, but we spent most time in the common areas or trekking in the nearby hills.

The most amazing views throughout the property. The window in our room looked like an HD Television is was so amazing. The property is well thought out and has everything one needs to relax. We enjoyed the sauna and steam room in our bathroom. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds and the waves crashing onto the beach. The location is perfectly set between the center of Bariloche and Circuito Chico.

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable (we had a spa bath!). The hotel facilities are excellent with a fitness room, heated outdoor pool with incredible view, sauna and two jacuzzis. The restaurant serves delicious, home-cooked food in an amazing setting with views of the lake and mountains. Breakfast was the best we had in Argentina.

What more could you want. Highly, highly recommend staying here. You won’t be disappointed.

3. NH Bariloche Edelweiss 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels San Carlos de Bariloche

NH Bariloche Edelweiss
NH Bariloche Edelweiss

The 4-star Edelweiss offers spacious and bright rooms facing the Nahuel Huapi Lake and snow-covered mountains. Located in Bariloche, the property features ski storage services. Catedral Ski Centre is a 25 minutes drive away.

Ranging between 20 m² and 30 m², each room features an exclusive design. All of them are fitted with spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds, flat-screen cable TVs and other luxurious amenities.

Guests staying at NH Bariloche Edelweiss can enjoy a varied breakfast buffet. At lunch and dinner times, La Tavola Restaurant features Argentinean cuisine and wineries.

A gym and indoor pool with great lake views are also available on site. At an additional cost, guests can spoil themselves in the spa, which is open between 16:30 hs. and 21:00 hs.

We will not only stand out for an excellent service… but we will also be remembered for the pleasure of staying at NH Bariloche Edelweiss.Conveniently located in the downtown area, only steps away from Nahuel Huapi lake and the Civic Centre, our refurbished and modernized infrastructure is in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings; mountains, forests and lakes. It is a place that feels like home.

This Hotel was in the middle of town , very close to many restaurants and the shopping precinct and chocolate shops. Disadvantage is that it is right on the main street and at night is quite noisy.

Our room was facing away from the main street and was quiet. The location is great – very near the city center, and on bus lines. The staff was also extremely helpful when we had trouble finding a place to buy a bus pass. They were all very friendly and nice, and spoke English. The breakfast was good. The one minor complaint is that the WiFi was a little slow and didn’t always work perfectly at busy times of the day. Overall, we had a great stay and would stay there again.

It’s located 15kms from airport (240 pesos in a taxi), and is in the main part of town about 1.5 blocks from the Centro Civico. The Centro Civico is a beautiful place to stop and take photos and there is a museum there also. There are two arch ways and from that the main street with all the touristy shops, cafes and restaurants begin – that street is called Mitre. one of the nicest places to visit is the Cathedral. Beautiful photos opportunities there. All the streets felt safe both day and night.

The hotel itself is really well kept and lovely. A few reviewers commented about the 60’s vibe. Yes the decor is a little 60’s but it feels cosy, clean, the rooms are spacious, warm and inviting. I highly recommend a mountain view if u can get it. I’ve been to countless 4 star hotels and I can honestly say I really loved this place.
