Escape hectic philosophies, and why not plunge into vibrant glitz amidst natural splendors? W Bali – Seminyak is a newfound luxury resort playground along the shores of Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia where trendsetting chic restaurants, clubs, fashions and eclectic galleries await discovery.
The hotel has stylish modern design, spacious rooms and bathrooms, huge swimming pool with varieties of sun-beds and cabanas, nice ambience and good choice of music at the restaurants.
The breakfast is amazing, good selection in the buffet along with a le carte menu (4 pages menu with many brkfst specialties). The staff is well trained, attentive and helpful, all of them speak good English, very hospitable and polite.
The hotel location is 10 out of 10, there are many nice cafes, good restaurants, shops in walking distance, money exchangers, supermarkets, pharmacy, small market is around the corner. But at the same time the hotel has their own privacy and if you are inside you feel like far away from the crowds and the entire world.
Loved the Woobar and the drinks selection! The bar is very well managed by Paulie and poolside service is outstanding. Staff are always more than happy to move umbrellas for you to the exact spot you need and service is readily available at the touch of a button (literally!).
The hotel has everything you need for a relaxing weekend away so we pretty much stayed in most of the trip. There is a good variety of food available and we absolutely enjoyed our dinner at Fire.
This hotel has the Wow factor. Guess this is what the W stands for. FRom the check in desks, to the rooms (entry level room chosen, still amazing) to the various pools. Breakfast was out of the world, from steak and eggs to dumplings, to everything in between. Al La Carte and buffet. We ate out in the vening purely because Seminyak has so much to offer.
The pool was great and there are enough chairs for you to find space. They have floating water beds, great drinks and food available by the pool. The pool bar in the evening time is also relaxing and has shisha.
The hotel is located in the heart of Seminyak but is within its own compound. Yes, compound. However venturing out is not an issue. You can easily hail a cab or walk out to the front and be close to local bars, clubs and restaurants.
Ocean facing rooms are spacious with awesome views across the pool and ocean. The restaurants serve a nice variety of both local and international dishes. We love the breakfast with a semi buffet and a vast variety of a la carte options. The attendants around the pool are very attentive and friendly as well. We also love the Woo Bar with awesome views and vibes.
Ocean facing room that had stunning views of the ocean, pool and beach. We loved the design of our room, especially the bath and shower with the retractable skylight. The bed was very comfortable.
The food at the restaurants was quite good, especially Starfish Bloo. We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet. The pool was refreshing to swim in and the outdoor lounge pillows and chairs added a chic touch. My husband scheduled a wonderful and relaxing couple’s massage for us at their Away spa. We definitely recommend their masseuses. The concierge also helped us book a car service to Ubud which was a very enjoyable trip.
Room was the standard garden view room ‘wonderful garden escape option’ which is not facing the sea but on 3rd floor with view from balcony of Palm tree gardens & hammocks, looks chilled. Though the sea is heard clearly.
The room is large & spacious. As you walk in an open plan glass walled large bathroom is displayed. Two sinks for each guest & a huge shower cubicle. Large spacious bath with shower hose as well as large rain shower also with separate hose. The roof is interesting as via remote you can open the roof & let natural light display over the bath. All round very spacious with the generous full set of bliss amenities, plenty of towels, robes & slippers. It’s all glass but a screen can offer privacy from room if needed.
The corridor offers three large wardrobes, one for each person plus a safe, ironing facility & umbrella on offer. A cool feature is the door handles are lit up in pink light.
Next is a large mini bar that offers o only a kettle but large sachets of coffee for pots. But no nice espresso machine. Mini bar is extensive with alongside drink & snacks has intimate pack, sun lotion sets, & even the hotel branded cap. About 6 water bottles are complementary and they keep bring them during turn over. There is also a bug spray in room and a cool complimentary W branded insect repellent.
Huge desk with sliding mirror to move in front of the large TV, other amenities include Bose sound system that plays some dance CD, sort of commercial electronic, some cheese but some chill. Couldn’t figure how to sync with phone since surround sound speakers by Bose sound amazing. The desk has plenty of room to work with ample supply of international plug sockets. Sliding mirror in rails is attached. There is also an interesting mellow light box & wireless phone, guides & stationery. The TV offers plenty of international options such as BBC & movie channels.
For seating there is a spacious comfy corner sofa with boutique hanging lamp in corner.
Two large queen beds with bedside tables plug sockets as well as JBL
Bluetooth connected alarm clock. Plenty of pillows & full light controls between beds.
Decor in the room is quite stylish mellow beige colors with green pillows & bed spreads, very comfortable bed to sleep.
The balcony is nicely fitted with comfy upright arm chair & side bed with pillows to chill out & coffee table to relax have a drink & listen to ocean in the evening. Nice lamps for the exterior lights.
Overall the room is faultless, all furniture was in tip-top condition, very clean & functional, spacious with some quirky art pieces. One of the best if not the best rooms I stayed at in Indonesia.
Facilities
The hotel offers free WIFI and worked well throughout. Business center also exists.
For catering there are two restaurants- Fire & Seafood Starfish blu which is more aimed towards fish. Breakfast in general has ala carte or buffet options at both & was of good standard. Obviously quite expensive.
For drinks, there is the lobby bar & the famous Woo bar. The Woobar is the spot for sunrise, with decent music banging out on their full sound system , lots of arm chairs & sofas right next to beach with great cocktails & Shisha on offer, but the service is a little slow. Expect to pay nearly 500k for shisha & two cocktails. However great ambiance especially for taking photos of sunset. The lobby bar is also jazzed up & quite nice view of the pool & beach area from above.
The pool is of two layers curving around the palm trees with a rice paddy influence to the design. It was open 24 hours & managed to get my swim laps in at 2am before bed. Plenty of sun loungers & even huge cushion to lie on, one can also have cabana beds with curtains next to the beach. There is also a modern gym, which leads to a free spa area offering a oxygen chill out zone, great for hang overs. Very blue velvet lighting style.
There is also a steam room with hot & cold plunge pools. Great for when it’s raining.
Large 24hr massage service area which is not cheap, however the standard of room & therapist is very high. You pay for what you get.
Various shops exist in the lobby from the overpriced W store (40AUD for a T-shirt), plus other clothing & boutique shops seen.
Staff
Staff are just so friendly & welcoming, reception did take a while but staff get on your level with a dedicated guest service ambassador to each guest. Everywhere staff are proactive to welcome & engage but ordering drinks & shish took ages at Woobar.
Overalls clear cut 5 star fun boutique hotel and the resorts of W feel better than some of the city branches. Look forward to Ubud opening up soon. Will definitely come again.

Situated a 5-minute walk from Dhyana Pura Beach, brightly decorated HARRIS Hotel Seminyak offers an outdoor pool as well as free WiFi access throughout the property.
Boasting contemporary
design, the brightly decorated rooms are fitted with a flat-screen , safety deposit box and . The property is also equipped with a minibar and an electric kettle. Attached bathroom comes with a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. Guests can take a dip in the pool, have a relaxing massage at the spa and wellness centre or work out at the gym.Harris Cafe serves a fine selection of Indonesian and Western dishes, while Italian food is available at Harrissimo. Refreshing beverages can be enjoyed at Juice Bar. Room service is also available.
I am delighted I booked the Harris Hotel. The hotel has an excellent location. It is a 10 minute walk to the beach. There is an ATM and supermarket directly across the road. Furthermore, there are lots of restaurants and shops in the area.
The room was very clean. It had everything we needed. Our towels were always changed and we were given lots of complimentary bottled water.
POOLS – They have 4 pools from what I gather, a kids pool, a smaller pool and the main pool on the ground level then a “flying pool” on level 5, we swam in the main pool which it did get sun on the sun lunges provided and the pool was quite nice to take dips in and we also swam in the flying pool at night which had a nice view.
BREAKFAST – we got the breakfast package which included a full buffet breakfast every morning, I thought it was great, loads of variety and if you aren’t one of those foodie snobs then I think this breaky is great!
HARRISMO – thought food was yummy, good for a pizza snack at the pool or for some pasta for dinner when you can’t be bothered leaving the hotel, located right next to the main pool.
STAFF – everyone was so nice, every staff member you walked past always said hello and always had a smile on their face.
GYM – didn’t work out in it however looked fine to me, weights cardio.
SPA – I got a two hours treatment which included full body massage, reflexology massage and a 30 minute flower petal bath: I enjoyed it for $39 and the bath with the bubbles and flowers was great, they also gave me some delicious tea to have while I had my bath 🙂
LOCATION – I liked the location, 5-10 minute walk to the beach when you turn right on Jl Drupadi which I highly recommend going and having a drink at sunset at any of the bars with colourful bean bags and a 10-15 min walk when you turn left on Drupadi to the street where all he main restaurants are. Out the front you have drivers that can take you out, I was priced $50 Aussie or 500000 rupiah for a 6 hour day, we did this twice to Ubud and Uluwatu. If you are unsure where to go the driver will suggest places which is super helpful. And right across the road from the hotel you have three convenience stores and some cafes, there was also a cool bar with a pool table which we liked.
There is a fully equipped gym in the hotel which we used. The hotel has a few shuttle service which goes to the beach and up to one of the main streets. This runs throughout the day
If you are wanting a hotel with a pool that you can lie next to, relax and sip cocktails this is prob not the hotel for you. If you want somewhere near all of the main areas in Seminyak for a decent price, then this is the hotel for you! Definitely recommend.

3. The Haven Bali Seminyak 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Seminyak
A 10-minute walk from Seminyak Hotel offers accommodation with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The elegant hotel boasts a and 2 dining options.
, TheThe elegant rooms at The Haven Bali Seminyak come with balconies and have plenty of natural light. Each room has a tea/coffee maker. Select bathrooms have a bathtub.
Guests can enjoy a range of beauty and body treatments at ATMA Spa, or work out at the fitness centre. For convenience, the hotel also provides laundry services and free parking.
Sabeen Restaurant offers a variety of organic dishes, while Italian food is served at Lemon Cello.
Welcome to The Haven, a resort that brings a natural elegance into one of Bali’s most animated areas. With its sophisticated contemporary design, The Haven sits befittingly alongside the chic shopping strips and eclectic mixture of urban dining and party venues of Seminyak.
Being only a short distance from the ever-famous Seminyak Beach as well, where we have our very own exclusive Beach Club, this resort is made for the modern traveller coming to Bali, the Island of the Gods. Surrounded by verdant landscaped grounds and two refreshing swimming pools to choose from, that tropical holiday feeling is with you throughout your stay.
With 3 complexes of accommodation, our hotel, suites or villas, complete with modern amenities and designer furnishings, there is something for everyone at The Haven Seminyak. This urbane refuge is also home to the alluring Atma Spa, two vibrant international restaurants, a hospitable departure lounge, meeting facilities, a fitness centre and numerous guest activities and facilities. The Haven Seminyak is exactly what it says it is: your exclusive refuge in the very core of Bali’s most happening area.
Location is excellent. On the main street (Jalan Seminyak) but with access direct on to Jln Arjuna (Double 6 street) it was close to the Bintang supermarket, walking distance to Ku Da Ta, close enough to Eat street and Seminyak Square, near many of the notable restaurants, not far north of all that Legian offers and even nearby Kuta if that is your thing. Additionally, it has a beach club with a scheduled shuttle drop off and pick up, yet it is only 10 minutes walk to the beach.
The beach club has limited sun-loungers so book your shuttle and beach space with reception. Or there is an adequate pool that is very popular with sufficient loungers and a swim-up bar. And there is a second pool that is well shaded in the suites area of the hotel that you can use if the pool loungers are all taken. These facilities are far more than many others offer and are highly rated by guests.
This room has been renovated and is recommended if available. It is a junior suite that was spacious and open plan with a superb pool view balcony that was narrow but extensive with furniture and afternoon sun. The room had good lift access to the hotel’s top floor and was well located close to the reception and the restaurant but away from the street. Specify this as the street can be noisy. The suite had a sizeable bedroom, separate lounge area with comfortable seating, two modern wall-mounted TVs, dining area with mini fridge (but no cooking facility), sliding door to separate the rooms and good blackout curtaining. Security is well set up, safe is the usual, plenty of wardrobe and storage space, perhaps a lacking in drawer space if you like to unpack, and a king bed that was comfortable with a mattress topper (and therefore not rock hard as some are in Bali).
The bathroom can make or break a hotel room – ours was the best of what 4 star will offer, modernised it had a separate toilet, a discrete large shower, double hand-basins and a bath, good mirrors and shelving with all amenities and usual array of bathroom necessities.
All in all the room was phenomenal for the price charged and left other 4 star Bali hotels behind in all respects. It is no wonder guests return time and time again.
Breakfast is a clincher for many at the Haven. We saw day after day people coming in off the street to breakfast here. The reason was the excellent price for the quality. Ours was an inclusive of breakfast booking and we enjoyed it with some variety over 5 days. Not the most comprehensive we have ever seen perhaps but it was replenished and for a 4 star at the price was exceptional. All the usual juices, fresh fruits and yoghurts, cereals, bakery items with adequate pastries, an array of Indonesian and Indian hot dishes, an egg station (ask for a poached egg) , they served chicken and pork with yes pork bacon. Increasingly, some Balinese restaurants / warangs and hotels are not serving pork bacon (religious reasons) and beef bacon does not measure up. They provide real coffee on request and the street view over breakfast is interesting and entertaining. One small feature is the need to monitor the smoking around the fringes of the reception and restaurant. The wafting smoke from smokers does ruin breakfast for others and the staff needs to be bold and challenge smokers emphasising the non smoking signs. If you come from a society where smoking is increasingly not viewed well, usually prohibited, to have smokers around meals and reception and the pool ignoring no smoking signs is hard to tolerate.
There are some brilliant cafes (warangs) nearby – Grain, Mozzarella, several on Jln Arjuna / Double 6 – and others that are very ordinary so be prepared to scrutinise carefully. Bluebird taxis are the safe option with meters and venturing from the hotel is cheap indeed. In summary, for an extended stay or a few days the Haven offers a value for money option with some outstanding features. It is indeed popular with European and Australian guests who have discovered this haven in Seminyak, and one we will recommend, and to which we look forward to returning, as it does outclass for value and quality comparable hotels in Bali.
