Discover the 151 rooms and suites at the newly renovated Hotel Alfonso XIII, Seville, totally equipped and furnished with luxury and comfort. The hotel guestrooms have been decorated with three different elegant styles: Andaluz, Moorish and Castilian rooms.

The hotel surpassed my previous experience. The gardens and pool are bijou, offering a relaxing oasis in the centre of the city. The gym is likewise tidy, but well-equipped. The main restaurant, San Fernando, is easy to, but should not be, overlooked (now living somewhat in the shadow of the critically acclaimed Ena, the hotel’s venue for Carles Abellan tapas creativity).

Restaurante San Fernando has an air of formality, but the staff are truly warm and generous (the sommelier remembered my favourite bottles from 5 years’ previously), and the menu is so extensive as to suit the palate and appetite of anyone at any time of day, from a fragrant salad or gazpacho, bursting with flavour, to Hake Romana, tender lamb or a delicious, but wonderfully simple, fillet steak, washed down with a delectable Rioja Reserva. All of these delights are served either within, or overlooking, the hotel’s central courtyard, at its heart a murmuring ivory fountain framed by Moorish arches, all overseen by Seville’s inevitable clear blue sky. There were several other restaurants we particularly enjoyed during our stay: Restaurante Oriza.

Location is perfect for walking everywhere in Seville. Cafes, landmarks, etc are super close. The hotel itself is pure Spanish old world charm…the patio for a drink or restaurant for breakfast (buffet is huge and delicious) and dinner was lovely as well.

The property is so beautiful and more than lived up to its reputation. Several friends have commented to us that the Hotel Alfonso XIII is among their favorite places to stay anywhere, and we agree. All aspects of the hotel operate at the highest standards and the staff is both professional and very friendly at the same time.

Breakfast was beautiful with the largest buffet we’ve ever seen and fresh local food.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable: close to the Seville Cathedral, Barrio Santa Cruz, Plaza de Espana and most of the famous parks of Seville. The suite room we stayed in was spacious and well decorated and every morning we were able to witness a beautiful Spanish sunrise through the large windows. What an excellent hotel.

The breakfast buffet sitting in the outdoor courtyard every morning was phenomenal and quite an experience. The housekeeping and hotel staff were extremely kind and courteous. In particular the housekeepers would always offer me and my wife additional water bottles in the afternoon when the Spain heat was most intense which we were definitely thankful for.

Located in Seville’s picturesque old town and 10 minutes’ walk from the Cathedral, Hotel Casa Imperial is set in a beautiful Andalusian-style mansion. It has a colourful façade and a lovely interior courtyard.

Hotel Casa Imperial features original, brightly coloured tiles, charming stone archways, fountains and peaceful galleries. Each spacious room has bright, traditional décor with wooden and wrought-iron finishes.

All rooms have air conditioning and a small seating area with a flat-screen TV. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public courtyard.

With the city and old town having so much history and character we wanted to stay somewhere that reflected this also. Casa Imperial more than meets this. Set in a 16th century mansion with beautiful terraced courtyards the hotel has amazing old world charm.

The room itself again is world charm , clean and comfortable and the air conditioning unit is amazing which we appreciated after a day out in 40 degree heat. We also had a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival . From a location perspective the neighborhood is great and the hotel is in a perfect position. Some fantastic places to eat and grab a drink at very reasonable prices being that you are not in the Centre.

Would recommend to eat and bars to explore around Alfalfa which is a square 5 mins walk away and then it’s another 5 min walk down to the main square for the Cathedral and the Real Alcázar etc… People who love history , character and a unique stay will love this place. If you want modern luxury then this may not be for you.

Privately owned and carefully restored to 4-5 star standard, Casa Imperial is gorgeous on the eye, and retains its 16th century charm with what guests expect of 21st century living. Every room overlooks one of the interior courtyards, bursting with plants, geraniums, exotic grasses , distressed antiques, tiled benches, delightful wrought iron tables and chairs and the sound of tinkling water from gamboling fountains. Rooms are sympathetically and simply furnished in Southern Spanish style; swagged curtains, crisp linen etc.

Comfortable beds. Immaculately clean. Snowy white bedding. Bronzed tapped double sinks in bathrooms, good shower, deep bath, bidet etc. Outside each room overlooking inner balconies are comfortable tapestry covered/wicker chairs and table, perfect for reading in the cool of the evening and aperitifs. All courtyards have a slightly different ‘look’. Roof terrace has commanding view of city skyline. Staff delightful, warm, welcoming and well informed. A splendid, relaxing and typically ‘Old Sevilla’ experience sited down a quiet, cobbled side street. A real find. Almost felt reluctant to review it as wanted to keep it a secret!!

Breakfast cost 12 euros each and consisted of a relatively modest choice of cereals, breads, fruit, boiled eggs and luke warm bacon and mini sausages.

3. Patio de La Alameda 3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Sevilla

Set in a restored 19th-century mansion in the centre of Seville, Patio de la Alameda features an internal courtyard typical of the city.

Each room has air conditioning, a minibar and satellite TV. Rooms also have an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi access in public areas.

Patio de la Alameda was once the home of a famous Spanish sculptor, Antonio Susillo. It is set in the beautiful Plaza de la Alameda Square. This lively square has many restaurants and gay bars in Seville.

It is a hotel in the central square of Alameda with all the charm of Seville patios. Sevilla Enjoy your way. Old mansion of the last century, in which lived the sculptor Antonio Susillo, now converted into a hotel with style.

This colorful full, handsome mansion had been the property of a distinguished sculptor. It is located on an “alameda”, a very large oblong plaza that has a long history. It is now surrounded by numerous restaurants, bars and social hang-outs, filled at almost all hours by families, couples celebrating life.
It is about a fifteen minute walk from the historic center of Seville (Alcazar, Cathedral, etc.), and there is a bus that runs on a circular route from the Guadalquivir to that area, about ten minutes away from the hotel for 1.40 Euros.

This little hotel has a very singular charm. You will not mistake it for a Holiday Inn or a Hilton. This cozy, definitely Andalusian hotel will enchant you with color, decor, friendly service. Our room was extremely tidy and clean with just enough room for two.

The staff make sure you are happy and are always there to answer questions and to be helpful. The breakfast is very good! The square out front can be crowded if groups are following ballgames on the TV but once that is over, the place is quiet and serene. There are many restaurants and bars right outside the hotel. A fifteen minute walk brings you to the center of Seville.

This boutique hotel located in the Hercules area turned out to be a wonderful spot. The neighborhood is about a 25 minute walk to the Cathedral and very lively. Has a festive, family atmosphere with people enjoying. Beer or glass of wine in the plaza and families having ice cream, kids playing soccer and a nice flow of people all around. There are many good restaurants in the area too.

The hotel itself is really nice with flowers everywhere, a nice rooftop restaurant and comfortable rooms.

Rooms are arranged around pleasant courtyards and feels very much more homely than your box standard chains in the city stayed at previously. The room itself was nice if not a bit dark as all the windows are internal to the courtyard and have cute little shutters. Very Spanish and nice. Staff were all lovely. Location very good set in large avenue area surrounded by loads of cafes and restaurants, small shops and small supermarket.

Lovely hotel, well located for bars cafes and sightseeing. lovely clean airy rooms, good wifi, beautiful inner courtyards with rooms set off each floor. nice little rooftop bar, only fault for us was no kettles in the rooms so we brought one as we like a cuppa in the morning.

4. Las Casas de los Mercaderes 3* – Gay Friendly Hotels Seville

Gay Hotels Seville

This hotel is located in an 18th-century house in Seville’s old trading centre, within 300 m of the Cathedral and Giralda Tower. It has a 24-hour reception.

All air-conditioned rooms at Las Casas de los Mercaderes by Silken include satellite TV, a safe and a mini bar. Each has a private bathroom with bathtub including a hairdryer.

Las Casa de los Mercaderes by Silken has a beautiful central courtyard with a bright glass roof. The cafeteria serves snacks and meals all day. Room service is also available.

The location of this delightful hotel in the traffic-free streets of the old town is excellent, being about 5-10 minutes’ stroll in any direction from the main sights and about 15 mins to Triana on other side of river. It is literally 2 mins from San Salvador where you could by a combined ticket to include the cathedral too and thus avoid long queues to enter the cathedral. Plenty of bars and restaurants around to choose from. The breakfasts were amazing with a good choice from the usual continental fare of rolls, bread, meats/cheese and very large selection of fresh fruit.

The room was lovely and clean and the reception staff friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend paying extra for a balcony room on a higher floor. The standard rooms located in the interior are very claustrophobic and sad looking. In the balcony room, the street noise was noticeable but it did not bother us (there was a lot of Christmas street festivities when we were there). The room was clean and sparsely decorated. The balcony room was roomy and had a sofa bed, ample closet space, a fridge and a safe. The A/C was functional. Bathroom amenities were sufficient. However, they do not provide face (small) towels and facial tissues.

PROS:

– centrally located hotel – 5 mins walk to the cathedral, Alcazar, Santa Cruz. 2 mins walk to supermarket MAS which sold 1.5 litre bottled water for 49c rather than 2€ for 500 ml bottle from hotel
– 10 min walk to El Cortes Ingles and other shops
– surrounded by banks, restaurants, bars, cafes, shops
– spacious room with king sized bed, lounge and strong shower pressure
– efficient house cleaning of room with fresh towels every day
– helpful and friendly reception staff- could not do enough for me
– quite a few of the reception staff speak English which is helpful when you need directions
– 10 min walk to the Speed Queen laundromat- 5€ for -12 kgs load and 1€ per 10 mins in dryer
– Semana santa procession underneath my balcony last night

5. Eurostars Sevilla Boutique – Gay Friendly Hotels Seville

Eurostars Sevilla Boutique
Eurostars Sevilla Boutique

Located in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood, Eurostars Sevilla Boutique is set on a XVI century palace and is 150 m from the Giralda and the Seville Cathedral.

The hotel has a business centre, restaurant and café-bar. Fresh dishes and drinks can be served on the terrace, with views over the Giralda and the Cathedral. The design of the building includes original paintings by local artists, which can be bought on site. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a Turkish bath and free WiFi.

The outdoor pool, set in a plant-filled courtyard, can be used 6 months of the year.

Great location in the old town. Everything you’ll want to see is walking distance if you are reasonably mobile. Pluses: big room, big comfy bed, courtesy fruit tray (not sure if this was normal), courtesy bottled water at the pool. Possible refinements: soap (was out of stock) and conditioner; provide 2 each of full caffeine coffee and breakfast tea; a couple more shelves or drawers and a full length mirror would be easily added in the spacious room.

There’s a great rooftop bar location, better than many others we tried, but it was not open much of the time.

Eurostars Sevilla Boutique is the perfect location to explore the Old Town and the major sights. There are some real Pros and a few Cons.
The Pros: In the heart of the old town back streets so very authentic. A cool feel (both decor and temperature) from the moment you enter the hotel. Once in the atrium area there is a lift to all floors. Our room had a view over the pool area with twin patio doors.

Room came equipped with a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Clever use of space for the wardrobe which contained a safe and sufficient hangers. The king size bed in our room was massive and very comfortable with a choice of pillows. There is a superb roof terrace with numerous comfortable chairs and couches with amazing views over the city There is a small pool Breakfast was quite good with a good choice of food both Spanish and International

Fantastic location in Barrio Altro and close to Cathedral. Room was exceptionally comfortable (junior suite overlooking pool) and bed the most comfortable I have ever slept on!

The pool area was small (not surprising for a city centre hotel) however the hotel benefits from a spacious split level terrace on the top floor, with views of the Cathedral. On our first night we popped up there for a couple of evening drinks. During the day time there was no bar service on the terrace, but it did provide some extra space to sit in the sun for an hour or so.

Breakfast was included – mainly buffet style with egg dishes served to order. All nicely done with good service.

Seville had plenty to see – including the Alcazar, Plaza de Espana and a show at the Museo del baile Flamenco, and the Fontecruz proved to be an excellent base.
